Oracle Communications Mobile Synchronization Server

Oracle Communications Mobile Synchronization Server (formerly Sun Java Mobile Communications) enables users to synchronize calendar, task, and contact data from Oracle Communications Unified Communications Suite to virtually any SyncML-capable client and device. Acting as a gateway, the Oracle Communications Mobile Synchronization Server expands the suite's client spectrum from desktop and Webtop to include mobile devices. It is available as an add-on to Oracle Communications Unified Communications Suite.

BENEFITS

  • Highly scalable—Offers RIM-like service for the mass market, increasing utilization of the data network for operators
  • Highly secure—Sends data over the Internet via SSL
  • Based on open-standards protocols—Both the OMA-DS (SyncML) engine and OMA-CP Client provisioning engine is based on open standards
  • Unique zero-footprint architecture—Provides a faster take-up rate for mobile synchronization than competing solutions; no installation necessary on the mobile device
  • Authentication—Integrates with Oracle Communications Unified Communications Suite using LDAP to authenticate the user pursuant to his credentials in the directory
  • Item serializers and Dynamic Device Configuration (DDC)—Enables the gateway to stay constantly up-to-date with changes to configurations of phone manufacturers and models through a live update mechanism
  • Flexible deployment—Can be deployed on Sun Application Server 9.1 and multiple platforms—Including Oracle Solaris 9 or 10 OS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 U1 or 4.0
