SPARC T5-8 Server Delivers Best Eight-Chip, Two-Tier SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark Result

Oracle's SPARC T5-8 server set a new eight-chip world record for the SAP Enhanced Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 Two-Tier Standard Sales and Distribution (SD) Benchmark, passing the IBM Power 780 eight-chip server and IBM Power 760 eight-chip system SAP SD Two-Tier results. (1,2,3)

The SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark is a two-tier ERP business test that is indicative of full business workloads of complete order processing and invoice processing, and demonstrates the ability to run both the application and database software on a single system. The SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark represents the critical tasks performed in real-world ERP business environments.

The SPARC T5-8 server with 8 processors, 128 cores and 1024 threads achieved 220,950 SAPs with 40,000 users for the two-tier SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark using SAP Enhancement Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 running on Oracle Solaris 11 and Oracle 11g Database.(1)

The SPARC T5-8 server is 57% faster than the IBM Power 760 eight-chip running SAP Enhancement Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0.

The SPARC T5-8 server delivers 5% more SAP users per chip than the IBM Power 780 12-chip running SAP Enhancement Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0. (5)
