The Oracle Database offers SAP customers a range of features and options that help ensure the best availability and reliability available.
ORACLE DATA GUARD
Oracle Data Guard creates, maintains, and monitors one or more standby databases to protect enterprise data from failures, disasters, errors, and corruptions and maintains these standby databases as synchronized copies of the production database. These standby databases can be located at remote disaster recovery sites. If the production database becomes unavailable because of a planned or an unplanned outage, Data Guard can switch any standby database to the production role, minimizing downtime and preventing data loss.
Oracle Flashback Database quickly rewinds an Oracle database to a previous point in time to correct any problems caused by logical data corruptions or user errors—eliminating the time required to restore backup files.
With Oracle's Cache Fusion cluster database architecture, a new shared cache architecture that overcomes the limitations of traditional shared-nothing and shared-disk approaches to provide highly scalable and available database systems, RAC provides SAP users with uninterrupted server access regardless of hardware and/or software failures.
