Oracle Database for SAP


The Oracle Database is the #1 database among SAP customers around the globe, with a large customer base that gains long-term cost benefits from the two companies’ integrated technologies. Organizations can run SAP applications with Oracle databases on the same code base on Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems.

Oracle Database 12c for SAP

Oracle Database 12c (both 12.1 and 12.2) is certified for all NetWeaver-based SAP products and solutions. See SAP Notes 2133079, 1914631, and 2470660 as entry points.

Oracle Database 12c comes with major new options (Oracle Database In-Memory, Oracle Multitenant) and features (Deferred Compression, Information Lifecycle Management) which can be used by SAP customers. Oracle Database 11g for SAP

The Extended Support fee for Oracle Database 11g Release 2 ( will be waived for the period of February 2015–December 2018. During this period, customers will receive Extended Support as described in the Oracle Software Technical Support Policies. See also SAP Note 2098258.

Oracle Database Roadmap for SAP NetWeaver

Starting 2018, new releases of Oracle Database will be provided annually, and patch sets will no longer be released. In addition, a new numbering schema for the Oracle database software has been implemented. Instead of the legacy nomenclature for patch sets such as or, a three-field number 'year.update.revision' will be used.

SAP Core Data Services for Oracle Database

With the most recent SAP NetWeaver version released in September 2014 and in accordance with SAP's "commitment to openness and innovation," SAP has begun to provide an Oracle-specific implementation of SAP's Core Data Services (CDS). This will allow SAP applications and application developers to push application functionality down to the database, i.e. to call procedures stored in the Oracle Database.
