dooApp and Java

dooApp Goes Green with Java

Creating a greener, more sustainable infrastructure is important to all of us. The buildings in which we live, work, and play protect us from nature's extremes, but they also affect our health and environment. As the environmental impact of buildings becomes more apparent, Java is helping dooApp develop software tools and applications that enable architects and engineers to design green buildings that improve environmental performance.

dooApp chose Java for a number of key reasons, including its multiplatform support, integrated development environment, animation and effects capabilities, and the fact that it offered a wide of range of mature tools that helped to produce stable code. What’s more, JavaFX enabled the company to develop rich, user-friendly client interfaces, and its tooling and binding features helped to close the gap between design and code and reduced time to market. The company is currently using Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE), and JavaFX 1.3, and plans to migrate soon to JavaFX 2.0.

Antoine Mischler, dooApp cofounder, points out that in addition to Java’s features and capabilities, the support and resources of the Java community were essential. dooApp participates in local Java User Group (JUG) events, and also gives back to the community by leading open source projects such as FXForm2, a library that provides automatic JavaFX 2.0 form generation, and by writing a technical blog.
