Tracking Time with the Help of Java

Keeping track of time is important—especially in the business world, where the value of billable hours can directly affect the bottom line. Gridvision’s easy-to-use Gleeo time tracking application is a simple project- and task-based time-recording tool that supports an unlimited amount of tasks per project. It includes a server component and is available as a Web front-end client, a mobile client (Android) application, or a desktop client. The desktop client is based on the Swing framework for rich client solutions and is distributed using Java Web Start technology.

Thanks to the widespread adoption of Java, Gridvision was also able to integrate Gleeo Time Manager with a well-established payroll application, creating a user-friendly licensing process. The company plans to use JavaFX in the next version of the Gleeo desktop application. According to Stefan Marty of Gridvision, the solution will incorporate rich, high-performance graphics, made possible by Java, and will be a state-of-the-art rich internet application (RIA).

In addition to Gleeo, Gridvision offers a wide range of applications developed in Java, including Java applets that simulate the behavior of medical equipment; applications for handheld devices, such as PDAs and mobile phones; and highly complex distributed applications designed for high-availability, clustered platforms.
