Chris Armes

Chris Armes
Vice President Systems Engineering, Oracle Corporate
Chris Armes is the Vice President of Revenue Products Engineering (RPE) for Oracle's Systems business unit. Although based out of the UK, Chris claims no timezone. He spends a significant portion of his time visiting customers and partners to help them understand Systems' products and support strategy. That combined with the global responsibility of his organization, keeps him on the move.

RPE consists of some 300 engineers and is primarily focused on providing sustaining engineering for products including Solaris, Solaris Cluster, SAM/QFS, Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center, and the Storage Server 7000 series. The team also provides the engineering support for Engineered systems like Solaris Exadata and SPARC SuperCluster. In addition, the team provides Software Lifecycle Engineering, and owns a large number of products being sustained but no longer actively developed.

Chris joined Sun in 1999, becoming part of Oracle with the acquisition of Sun. He has over 20 years of experience in the industry including leading large organizations in the software engineering of operating systems and application software for military usage. He has a BSc (HONS) degree in Computing Science from Staffordshire University. When Chris is not working, he enjoys amateur dramatics, skiing with his wife and children, and walking the family dog.

Further speakers for the "Breakthrough with Extreme Performance Events" will be announced shortly.
