Technology 'In Action' sessions

  • Highly available LDOMS - Terry Smith - Systems Engineer, Oracle EMEA

The new servers T5 and M5 have enhanced I/O options based on PCI-E v3 and LDOMS have evolved to offer industry leading capabilities in the areas of performance, security and flexibility. Learn from Oracle experts how to design a highly available architecture using the PCI-E root complexes of the T5/M5 and advanced capabilities of OVM Server for SPARC v3, such as secure live migration.
  • Extreme Consolidation with Supercluster - Mike Ramchand - Engineered Systems Lead Oracle EMEA

Supercluster is an engineered system that leverages advanced SPARC technology combined with Exadata and Exalogic extreme performance software and hardware. Supercluster delivers extreme levels of consolidation, performance and investment protection - a true 'data centre in a box'. Supercluster is the ideal environment for mission critical applications. Oracle recently switched its entire 'Global Single Instance' to Supercluster representing one of the largest Oracle E-Business Suite implementations in the world. Learn from an Oracle Expert how this advanced service was architected and how such a physically small design can support a global workforce of 120,000 active users.
  • High Performance Oracle Databases and Java with Solaris 11 - Duncan Hardie - Principal Product Manager, Oracle Solaris

Solaris 11 has advanced features that significantly improve Oracle database, Oracle RAC and Oracle Java performance and observability. These optimisations only exist for Solaris 11 and makeit the most natural choice for Oracle deployments. Learn from Oracle experts on how to exploit these features in your data centre
  • Systems Management with Oracle Enterprise Manager – Simon Hayler- Principal Product Manager, Oracle Enterprise Manager

Oracle is the only vendor offering an "End to End" management product, Enterprise Manager, that understands all layers from "app to disk". Fundamental to management in a shared service infrastructure is the concept of tight integration between hardware system data and application and database service level objectives. The new Oracle servers standardise on ILOM3 which works closely with Ops Center and Oracle VM Manager to control the life-cycle of the virtual and physical entities. Learn from Oracle experts how to manage the life cycle of Solaris and Linux operating systems and Virtual Machines working with SPARC, X86 servers and engineered systems and how these form a complete service management framework within Oracle Enterprise Manager.
