Oracle WebLogic Server 12c (12.2.1): Creating a JRF Domain

Purpose

This tutorial creates a WebLogic Server 12c (12.2.1) Restricted JRF domain that supports WebLogic Server, Coherence and Fusion Middleware Control.

What Do You Need?

The following is a list of hardware and software requirements:

  • A Linux development machine with sufficient CPU, memory, and hard disk space
  • Sufficient hardware to run WebLogic Server (For details, see the list of certified platforms.)
  • Installing the following products in these locations has been tested with this tutorial:
    • JDK 1.8 version 60 - jdk-8u60-linux-x64.gz  - in location /u01/jdk1.8.0_60
    • WebLogic Server 12c (12.2.1) - wls_jrf_generic.jar - /u01/wls1221

    While other versions of these products may function for this tutorial, they have not been tested.

  • Completed the prerequisite tutorial: WebLogic Server 12c (12.2.1): Installing WebLogic Server Using the JRF Installer.

Creating a WebLogic Server Restricted JRF Domain

  1. Open a secure shell terminal session to the Linux development machine and login as the oracle user.

  2. Navigate to the location of the WebLogic Server installation common/bin directory: /u01/wls1221/oracle_common/common/bin.

    $ cd /u01/wls1221/oracle_common/common/bin
  3. Execute the config.sh script to start the Fusion MIddleware Configuration Wizard: 

    $ ./config.sh
  4. After the Fusion Middleware Configuration Wizard opens, use the guidelines in the following table to create a WebLogic Server JRF Domain:

    Step Window/Page Description Choices or Values
    a. Page 1 of 8 Click Create a new domain.
    For Domain Location, enter /u01/wls1221/user_projects/domains/jrf_domain
    Click Next.
    b. Page 2 of 9 Select Create Domain Using Product Templates.
    From Available Templates, select: Oracle Enterprise Manager-Restricted JRF - 12.2.1 [em], Oracle Restricted JRF - 12.2.1 [oracle_common], WebLogic Coherence Cluster Extensio - 12.2.1 [wlserver]
    Click Next.
    c. Page 3 of 9 Accept the default Application location.
    Click Next.
    d. Page 4 of 9 For Name, enter weblogic
    For Password, enter welcome1
    For Confirm Password, enter welcome1
    Click Next.
    e. Page 5 of 9 For Domain Mode, select Development.
    For JDK, select Oracle HotSport 1.8.0_60 /u01/jdk1.8.0_60
    Click Next.
    f. Page 6 of 9 Do not make any changes in Advanced Configuration.
    Click Next.
    g. Page 7 of 9 Review the Configuration Summary.
    Click Create.
    h. Page 8 of 9 Click Next.
    i. Page 9 of 9 Click Finish.
