New Throttling Limits for Web Services APIs
Oracle Responsys has implemented throttling limit changes on its APIs. These changes included imposing throttling limits on APIs that did not have limits before.
The following APIs are affected:
- retrieveListMembers
- login
- Content Library APIs
To obtain the current list of throttling limits for your account, use the Get Throttling Limits REST API.
New Asynchronous Web Services APIs
Oracle Responsys Web Services now support asynchronous Merge & Trigger REST APIs and a polling API request to check the completion status by transaction ID.
Asynchronous APIs give developers a shorter and more predictable time to get status back after submitting an API request.
IMPORTANT: The asynchronous Web Services APIs are currently released under our Controlled Availability program. To request access to this feature, please log in to My Oracle Support and create a service request.
New REST API to Get All SMS Campaigns
This new REST API can get all of the SMS campaigns in an Oracle Responsys account. The API is similar to the existing REST APIs for getting all email campaigns and all SMS campaigns.
Update RIID-to-Organization Scope Mapping
A new API mergeOrgProfileExtensionRecipients is now available to update one or more recipient's RIID to their organization scope code mapping. Previously, you could only use Connect to update the RIID-to-organization scope code mapping.
IMPORTANT: This API only applies if Targeting by Organization is enabled for your account.
Send Time Optimization Using Past Push Event Data
Send time optimization can now generate optimal send times for the Push channel using past Push event data.
IMPORTANT: Send Time Optimization is currently released under our Controlled Availability program. To request access to this feature, please log in to My Oracle Support and create a service request.
New Content Widgets for the Email Message Designer
New content widgets are available for the Email Message Designer:
- RSS Feed: Add the latest from your RSS feed to your email message. You can define the maximum number of items from your feed and use widget tokens to manage what information from the feed to display in the email.
- YouTube: Add YouTube video link and thumbnail to your email message. Search for the video you want to use, and Oracle Responsys inserts a thumbnail in the email message. You can change the size of the thumbnail.
- Social Follow: Make it easy for subscribers to tweet about your campaign or follow you on Facebook. This widget adds clickable social media icons to your email. You can add the following social media icons: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest.
Content widgets make the creation of dynamic content easier. Marketers can now simply drag-and-drop widgets onto the email canvas in order to define regions and configure their dynamic content.
You can now create email templates using the Email Message Designer. Templates are presented to marketers when they create new campaigns using the Email Message Designer. These templates do not appear in the Create from Template wizard.
IMPORTANT: Email Message Designer templates are only available if you are using the Email Message Designer and your Account Administrator has disabled the rich text editor.
Available Options When in Full Screen Mode
In the Email Message Designer, if you are in full screen mode, you can now access the Dynamic Content and Split View buttons. These buttons allow you to work with dynamic content and HTML code, respectively.
IMPORTANT: This feature is available if you are using the Email Message Designer and your Account Administrator has disabled the rich text editor.
Open a Campaign Workbook in a New Tab
From the Manage Campaigns page, you can now open a campaign workbook in a new tab. You cannot open Classic campaigns in a new tab.
Users with the Campaign Director role or an Account Administrator can use the Campaign Monitor to pause, resume, or stop a campaign that is currently sending in the last 24 hours. An overlay with coaching tips is displayed, to help guide your use of the new options.
- Pausing the send will prevent further messages being sent. A paused campaign can be resumed.
- Stopping the send will completely stop the launch. A stopped campaign cannot be resumed.
No action can be taken if all the messages are sent, that is, if the launch status is Done or Active.
Support for Campaign Approvals in Programs
Email campaign approvals are now supported in Programs. By extending email campaign approval feature support in Program, campaign approvers can ensure that only approved email campaigns are launched from Program. Campaign approvals are enforced only for bulk launches.
IMPORTANT: This feature is only available if Campaign Approvals is enabled for your account. In addition, your account administrator must enable the Require approvals for all new and modified campaigns setting.
Navigation Options from Email Message Preview
When previewing a message created using the Email Message Designer, navigation options are now available to go directly to either the Campaign Workbook or the Email Message Designer.
Exclusions in External Campaign Management PET
In addition to referencing an External Campaign Management Profile Extension Table (ECM PET) in an email campaign, marketers can define exclusions by referencing one or more supplemental tables, views, or domains.
IMPORTANT: The ability to create and reference an ECM PET is currently released under our Controlled Availability program. To request access to this feature, please log in to My Oracle Support and create a service request.
Split View Editor Availability
We have made it easier to toggle between the Rich Text Editor and Split View Editor. By disabling the Rich Text Editor in the account settings, you will automatically get the Split View Editor in the following message designers: Email, Push, In-app and Content Library Editor.
If you need to disable the Split View Editor altogether for your account and continue to use the legacy Source Only Editor, login to My Oracle Support and create a service request.
Sample processes are now available for Collaboration users. You can use these processes to refer to or build upon. There is an Express campaign sample process and a Distributed Content Collaboration sample process with Direct Launch.
You can now use the Tasks user interface to view tasks that you completed in the last 30 days. Completed tasks also include the task details.
Task management users, such as local marketers and campaign or content approvers, previously did not have the option to view tasks that they had acted on.
Calendar Option Available for Configure Schedule Step
You can now use a calendar to choose the schedule in a Configure Schedule process step. This allows easier selection of dates and is available in both Process Designer and Express Campaigns.
Improved Manage Connect User Interface
The Manage Connect user interface has been updated. It now has a similar UI to other manage pages in Oracle Responsys.
Use the Manage Connect page to:
- Review jobs, job groups, and completed jobs.
- Easily search for jobs and filter jobs by job type, schedule type, and group name
New Connect UI for Omniture Jobs
Using the new Connect user interface, you can now create Omniture Genesis (also known as Adobe Genesis) import and export jobs.
IMPORTANT: The new Connect user experience is currently under measured deployment and will be rolled out over time.
The Job Group user interface has been updated. It now has a similar UI to the rest of the new Connect user experience.
Set Expiry Date for Connect Job
You can now set an expiration date for Connect jobs. After the job expires, Oracle Responsys deletes the job. The default expiration date for new Connect jobs is 30 days after the creation date. However, you can customize the expiration date or configure the job to never expire. Existing Connect jobs will not have an expiration date set.
IMPORTANT: This feature is only available in the new Connect user experience. This new experience is currently under measured deployment and will be rolled out over time.
Schedule Connect Jobs for Specific Days of the Month
You can use the monthly schedule and specify up to 6 days of the month on which the Connect job should be run.
IMPORTANT: This feature is only available in the new Connect user experience.
Additional Connect Details and Options from Global Search Results
You can now view additional information about Connect jobs in the global search results. You can also take actions on the job from the global search results including:
- Edit
- Copy
- Run now
- Stop
- Delete
Sort Order of PETs in Filter Designer
Profile Extension Tables (PETs) in the Filter Designer are now sorted alphabetically, making it easier to locate the appropriate PET.
In this update, we have included two enhancements:
- An asynchronous process to remove personal data records you have identified in Lists, Profile Extension Tables (PETs) records, App Channel Lists, and App Channel List PET records.
- The ability to delete App Channel List records (devices).
Here is how this behaves:
- When you delete List records, Oracle Responsys does the following:
- Marks the profile record deleted. A system process permanently deletes the records at a set time daily.
- Removes the data from any associated PET. A system process permanently deletes the PET records at a set time daily.
- If applicable, removes the associated data from the App Channel List. A system process permanently deletes the records at a set time daily.
- Permanently deletes associated App Channel List PET records. No system process is necessary.
- When you delete PET records without deleting the associated List record, the record is deleted. No system process is necessary.
- When you delete an App Channel List record, Oracle Responsys does the following:
- Marks the App Channel List record as deleted. A system process permanently deletes the records at a set time daily.
- Removes the data from any associated App Channel List PET. No system process is necessary.
- When you delete an App Channel List PET record without deleting the associated App Channel List record, the record is deleted. No system process is necessary.
Oracle Responsys now supports an SMS Public Aggregator Network. If you use the SMS channel for your marketing campaigns, you can now choose your SMS aggregator from which you can order services. You can also order and procure the codes to use for sending messages.
Launch SMS Campaigns from the Campaign Workbook
Similar to email campaigns, you can now use the SMS Campaign Workbook to launch your SMS campaigns rather than creating a Program. In cases where the SMS campaign expects a mobile originated (MO) message, the keyword must be activated before the launch. SMS campaign launches are available in Campaign Monitor.
External Tracking Parameters in SMS Campaigns
The external tracking parameters that are defined for your account are now available for SMS campaigns. Marketers can now add the available external tracking parameters to links in an SMS campaign.
Expected Mobile Number Import Format
For new accounts, when importing mobile numbers into a List, the expected format is now E.164.
Short URL Support for SMS and Mobile App Campaigns
Short URL is now supported by Mobile App campaigns.
In Automatic Failover for Transactional Messaging (ATFM) environments, Short URLs are also supported by SMS messages and Push notifications.
Message Center Enhanced Infrastructure
The back-end infrastructure for the Message Center has been enhanced. The Mobile App Message Center feature allows marketers to persist Push Notifications within an app’s Message Center / Inbox / Notification Center. With the new infrastructure, you now have greater storage capacity for Message Center campaign messages. As a result, marketers will be able to launch a greater number of Message Center campaigns.
IMPORTANT: The Message Center feature is currently released under our Controlled Availability program. To request access to this feature, please log in to My Oracle Support and create a service request.
Email Conversions from Mobile Apps
When your email campaign has deep links to your mobile app, you can now track downstream mobile app events such as Conversions and Purchases. These Conversions and Purchases will be attributed to the email campaign that led users to the mobile app.
Whenever a user clicks a tracked link in their email and lands in your mobile app, the Oracle Responsys mobile app platform initializes and maintains a Conversion context.
Your mobile app developers can use the platform to decide whether or not to raise a Conversion or Purchase Event. Marketers can then track Conversions and Purchases generated by their email campaigns.
Interactive Dashboards allows you to report on these mobile app events. The Browser Types report on the Device dashboard will now help you compare conversions across mobile apps, mobile browser or web browser for your email campaigns.
More Behavioral Attributes for App Channel List Filters
New recency and interaction behavioral attributes are now available for use in filters and Classic filters. These attributes enable you to more effectively retarget Mobile App users based on behavioral data. You can use these attributes with new or existing App Channel List filters.
The following new recency attributes are available:
- Push bounce date
- Last Push click date
- Last App Uninstall date
- Last Msg. Center sent date
The following new interaction attributes are available:
- Push Skipped
- Push Bounced
- Push Clicked
- App Uninstalled
- Msg. Center Sent
Export App Channel List Filter Results with Connect
Using the new Connect user interface, you can now export App Channel List filter results.
IMPORTANT: The new Connect user experience is currently under measured deployment and will be rolled out over time.
Orchestrate Campaigns with Near Real-Time Latencies
You can now orchestrate campaigns with near real-time latencies (under 30 seconds) so that customers, especially on mobile channels, are sent campaign messages (such as coupons or promotions) without a delay.
Account Administrators configure the events that can should have near real-time latency.
IMPORTANT: This feature is currently released under our Controlled Availability program. To request access to this feature, please log in to My Oracle Support and create a service request.
Support for SMS Bounce Data from SMS Aggregators
With the new SMS Public Aggregator Network, SMS aggregators can map their delivery receipt codes to standardized bounce categories (that is, hard bounce, soft bounce, or DND). You can report on these bounce categories from Interactive Dashboards using the following metrics:
- Hard Bounce
- Hard Bounce Rate
- Soft Bounce
- Soft Bounce Rate
- DND
- DND Rate
These metrics are available from all mobile dashboards.
Interactive Dashboards Enhancements
Interactive Dashboards includes several enhancements for this update:
- Mobile App Dashboards: Aggregate measures such as Opens, Actives, and Clicks now appear by default on the standard Mobile App dashboards.
- Email Dashboards: Spam Complaints, Total Orders, and Average Order values are now included in the standard Email dashboards.
- Org Dashboard: The following clarifying note was added: The org units on this dashboard represent the recipient's organization assignment and will only be applicable if the targeting by organization feature is used to send email messages.
- ISP, Region & Domain Name Change: For the domain sbcglobal.net, the ISP was changed from Yahoo to ATT Global, and Region from Global to North America.
Interactive Dashboards Plus Enhancements
Interactive Dashboards Plus has the following enhancements:
- Event Week: Similar to the Sent Week, the Event Week is now available on Interactive Dashboards Plus to help with custom reports that need a week-by-week analysis of events.
- Proof Launches: Proof launches for SMS are included in the SMS Subject Area, and you can use the Launch Type to filter out proof launches if you do not need them on your custom report. The email subject area already includes proof launches. Analyzing proof launches helps you validate your link, dynamic content, and segment group reporting before including them in the actual launch.
NOTE: Interactive Dashboards Plus is only available for the Email and SMS channels.
The link to the Oracle privacy policy has been updated in the following locations:
- Oracle Responsys Sign In page
