Oracle on Your iPhone: Design Patterns for Mobile, Compliments of ADF advocate presentation

Presenters: Ultan O'Broin, Director, User Experience, Oracle Applications User Experience, and Fusion UX Advocate; Lonneke Dikmans, Managing Partner for Vennster, and Oracle ACE Director

The workforce has changed—employees are mobile, work in varied locations, and expect technology to keep up with them. Almost all businesses support mobile devices in some fashion, and many are also producing their own mobile. Mobile design requires a deep understanding of its users, the tasks that need to be performed, and elegance in making these tasks easy to do. Oracle's Applications User Experience team and ADF have worked together to produce smartphone design patterns that will allow you to get started now on your mobile apps. The patterns include how to design your navigation, to the best layout of a list, to making edits on a business object, to how to invoke actions that yield a simple and apparent way to complete a task. These patterns work well across platforms (e.g. iOS, Android, and BlackBerry) and are supported by ADF. They have been vetted in Oracle's own mobile products (e.g., Sales, Time Entry, Expenses, Field Service), and work across different user roles and product lines. Using ADF to build Oracle's mobile design patterns will get you quickly and efficiently to a smartphone application that your users will find intuitive, easy, and productive to use. Don't re-create the wheel; start driving now!
