Launch elements include but are not limited to buttons, icon buttons, menu items, standard Web widget options, and links.

Dialog Box Details on a Row Item

The details of a dialog box can be updateable or read-only. If updatable, the dialog box should be modal, and the window toolbar should include a Cancel button. If the dialog box contains read-only information, the window should be nonmodal, and only the Done button is required.

  • If read-only:
    Use this format:<Object Type>: <Object Name> (for example, Expense Report: WBJ3008D).
  • If the dialog box contains editable fields, use this  format: <Action> <Object Type>: <Object Name> (for example, Approve Expense Report: WBJ3008D).

Dialog Box Buttons
  • Done: (If read-only) Closes the dialog box.
  • Cancel: (If the dialog box contains editable fields) Cancels the transaction and returns the user to the previous page.
  • Save and Close: Commits the transaction, closes the dialog box, and optionally displays a confirmation message.
