Leading Thailand financial services institution, TISCO Bank Public Company Limited (TISCO), has selected the recently introduced Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer X9M to help power its digital transformation. Using this high-performance, fully-managed cloud service, deployed in TISCO’s own data center, the bank can consolidate its business-critical Oracle Databases to help it adapt to changes and mitigate risks.

TISCO was established as the first investment bank in Thailand and offers a growing range of financial products and services to meet ever-growing market demands. To match this need, the bank wants to invest in technology that could enable it to modernise its IT capabilities and operations, and better meet changing regulatory requirements. By selecting Exadata Cloud@Customer X9M, TISCO expects it to optimise its IT spending by moving to a consumption-based model, help simplify its IT infrastructure, and help reduce support requirements by having a single vendor, and redirect time and resources towards innovation.

“The Thai banking industry continues to be resilient but there remains significant turbulence in the market. To meet the needs of our customers in this environment, we undertook a major upgrade to our IT systems by consolidating our business-critical Oracle databases to a single high-performance, high availability cloud platform managed by Oracle in our own data center which lowers our TCO,” said Wanthana Chotchaisathit, CIO, TISCO Bank Public Company Limited. “With Exadata Cloud@Customer X9M, we reduced the number of suppliers supporting our database infrastructure from five to one. As a result, our IT team can now spend more time delivering innovative services and supporting our growth initiatives. Exadata Cloud@Customer X9M also helps us comply with banking data security regulations and policies, which is very important to us.”

Since Exadata Cloud@Customer X9M is fully compatible with TISCO’s existing Oracle databases, the migration is anticipated to be simplified and fast. Established as the highest performing, most cost-effective and highest available platform for deploying Oracle databases, TISCO can benefit from scale-out database servers and intelligent storage servers, cloud automation and resilience, helping to ensure high application reliability and availability. Additionally, with Exadata Cloud@Customer X9M’s deployment behind TISCO’s firewall, the company can meet the requirements for strict data sovereignty and security while gaining the benefit of the high-performance Exadata Cloud Service.

“Customers’ expectations for quick and easy to use services continue to reign high, especially in the competitive financial sector,” said Taveesak Saengthong, Managing Director, Oracle Thailand. “There is an urgent need for banks in Thailand to move to the cloud to become more agile and flexible to meet ever-changing customer needs. In highly-regulated sectors, such as banking and finance, where sensitive data is processed daily, Exadata Cloud@Customer X9M offers the best solution in the industry to embrace the benefits of the cloud and keep within the privacy boundaries set for the industry.”
