Brenda Banning Vice President, Industry, Value and Architecture – Japan Asia Pacific

Brenda leads the Industry, Value and Architecture team for Japan and Asia Pacific. This team engages with customers to understand their challenges, inspire change, design solutions and set a course for optimising future technology use.

She has over 30 years of ICT experience focused on delivering quality outcomes to clients through using a pragmatic and team approach. Brenda has gained ICT experience spanning business transformation, enterprise architecture and interoperability of information systems.

Brenda’s career began as an Air Navigator in the Canadian Armed Forces where she flew in maritime patrol in anti-submarine, maritime surveillance and search and rescue missions. Following operational postings, Brenda was posted to Headquarters where she worked in workforce planning and eventually held the role of Application Architect for the implementation of a new Human Resources system for Department of Defence.

Upon leaving Defence, Brenda became a consultant at PeopleSoft/Oracle and had a diverse array of implementation and advisory assignments across Defence, Public Sector, Financial, Higher Education, Retail and Utilities clients in Canada, US, Australia and New Zealand.

Brenda has been a board member for Women in IT and Communications (WIC) in Canberra. She holds a MSc IT from University of NSW ADFA and a BSc in Kinesiology from University of Guelph.

Brenda lives in Christchurch NZ with her husband and 21-year-old son. She enjoys skiing, hiking and practices martial arts.

Stephen Bovis Regional Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, Oracle

Stephen Bovis is responsible for Oracle’s overall business in Australia and New Zealand and ensuring it delivers on its values of trust, customer success, innovation, and equality for its customers, partners, and communities across the region.

Stephen has more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry across a wide range of roles, functions, and marketing segments. Most recently, he was at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where he was vice president and managing director of the South Pacific region. Prior to that, he was based in Singapore leading HP’s Enterprise Group sales account management team for Asia Pacific, whose portfolio included hardware, services, and software.

Chris Chelliah Senior Vice President, Technology and Customer Strategy, Oracle Japan and Asia Pacific

Chris Chelliah is responsible for driving digital transformation for Oracle’s customers in the Japan and Asia Pacific region. He's accountable for the organization’s hypergrowth in cloud infrastructure and autonomous database. Chris leads cloud specialist sales teams, industry architects, and the Oracle Insight team to bring together the expertise needed to provide a collaborative, consultative approach to help customers achieve their objectives.

Chris has nearly 30 years of experience across a variety of portfolios in Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America. Previously at Oracle, he focused on customer success with consulting and implementation services in global projects in the telecommunications, financial services, and government sectors, implementing disruptive and innovative software solutions.

Chris holds a post-graduate degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Western Australia. He’s a frequent industry speaker and contributes regularly to trade and industry journals and opinion pieces on applications for emerging technologies.
