In many ways two years ago feels like a lifetime ago – little did we know at the time the challenges that 2020 and 2021 had in store for us. The human cost of the pandemic has, of course, been tragic. However, in many ways, the pandemic has also been the cloud’s coming of age moment. Suddenly millions of previously office bound employees were working from home, digital transformation plans were brought forward and companies like Zoom (an Oracle customer) became household names.
Of course our legacy in the cloud stretches back much further than two years. We actually have more than a decade of cloud experience in the ANZ market. We first had a cloud data centre in Australia in 2010. However, it was our next generation cloud launch in 2019 that really pushed things forward.
As I reflect on what we’ve achieved in those two years, I’m filled with an enormous sense of pride. Over and above the cloud regions – we’ve added:
But some things haven’t changed. When we launched our next generation cloud we made the point that not all clouds are created equal. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure was designed from the ground up to be a true enterprise grade cloud with security built-in. We knew our customers needed high performance computing, built-in analytics leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning, and a complete suite of modern front and back office and industry applications built for the cloud to truly unleash the potential of their data.
And this is all underpinned by the incredible price-performance Oracle Cloud offers.
