Oracle today announced that  Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) has been independently assessed by an Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessor against the Information Security Manual (ISM) PROTECTED controls.

The assessment covers Oracle’s Sydney and Melbourne Cloud regions and includes 37 OCI services which will help public sector customers, quickly, easily and cost effectively move to the cloud to gain more value from their data and drive better outcomes for citizens.

The latest IRAP assessment is part of Oracle’s continuing momentum in the federal government market and follows the November 2020 assessment at PROTECTED level of key Oracle SaaS applications including Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM.

Assessment at PROTECTED level provides assurance to customers that Oracle has the appropriate security controls in place for the processing, storage and transmission of information classified up to and including the level of PROTECTED.

Among the 37 services available is Oracle Cloud VMware Solution, which gives government customers a fully dedicated VMware environment and administrative control to migrate or extend their existing VMware solutions. At present no other major cloud infrastructure provider has announced similar services assessed against PROTECTED level controls for their Australian data centers.

“For regulated workloads moving to the cloud has not always been an easy process even when cloud services have been readily available. For many public sector organisations, moving large databases containing critical data is seen as simply too risky. Our Oracle Cloud VMware Solution makes it easier and safer for them to move data to the cloud – and back, without having to rewrite applications,” said Ryan.

About IRAP

The Information Security Registered Assessor Program (IRAP) is a security compliance framework comprised of security assessment processes and a security assessor program. It was developed by the Australia Signals Directorate (ASD) and the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) within the Australian government. IRAP supports Australian commonwealth government entities in maintaining their security assurance and risk management as well as assessing cloud service providers and their cloud services’ security controls against the Australian government security policies and guidelines.
