Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Fleet Application Management simplifies centralized management, IT automation, and full-stack patch compliance at scale for any technology deployed in OCI. With autodiscovery of software inventory and patch data, easy management with Fleets, and powerful IT automation with a catalog of prebuilt customizable Runbooks, the service enhances standardization, governance, and operational efficiency across the enterprise.
Increase IT productivity and efficiency with a centralized solution that reduces complexity and management overhead for day-2 patch operations for any technology deployed on OCI.
Reduce risk by improving patch compliance at scale, IT processes’ standardization, and resiliency—enhancing your security posture across your cloud stack.
Manage large-scale cloud resources as a group in an easy, centralized way. Simplify IT automation, resource management, scheduling, visibility, and patch operations across your entire footprint.
OCI Fleet Application Management enables full-stack software patching and compliance management at scale for any software deployed on OCI—including operating systems, database, middleware, or any third-party components in your stack, such as load balancers, gateways, and other technologies. Customers can reduce the complexity, effort, and cost of patch operations and centralized management of large-scale footprints—ensuring they are always up to date and compliant without having to do the heavy lifting.
Organize thousands of cloud resources across your portfolio in hierarchical groupings that can then be easily provisioned, updated, governed, patched, managed, and reported on with a single click.
You can group resources based on environments, applications, products for patching, or custom tags to identify different business units, cost centers, or customers. You can also create Fleet-of-Fleets to cascade updates across nested groups.
Autodiscovery of the software inventory deployed in your fleets along with its patch compliance data, audit reports, and automatic drift detection help ensure that you’re always running the latest, most secure patch version. Discovery and governance of tenancy provisioning and service configuration are coming soon.
Fleet provides out-of-the-box runbooks for patching Oracle technologies (WebLogic, Fusion Middleware, Oracle Database, Oracle Linux, and more), along with a library of customizable prebuilt runbook modules for common IT tasks—including Terraform provisioning, configuration updates, service restarts, setting and monitoring system blackouts, and ITSM API invocation—and a powerful GUI.
These enable customers to design and orchestrate patch operations or other IT automation to meet their specific needs. Users can also connect existing automation scripts or external systems involved in their processes.
Customers can trigger runbooks based on governance policies, changes to the environment’s state, or a recurring schedule or maintenance window, which can be set using the scheduler.
Easily patch specific components, an entire stack, or roll out a patch across thousands of resources. Hardened processes, state management, and validation of the patch are handled automatically. You can schedule touchless patching to run during specific maintenance windows or trigger patching on demand to remediate compliance issues.
Curated catalogs of standardized Terraform templates, deployable via runbooks, enable self-serve automated provisioning across the organization while preventing drift.
In the public catalog, customers can choose from prebuilt templates, such as OCI Landing Zones, to quickly provision secure, well-architected tenancies and cloud services with optimal configurations, or to deploy common workloads. Customers can also customize templates or use existing Terraform code they can share with different teams via the private catalogs. Platform administrators can lock approved configurations to help ensure that deployments comply with organizational policies (security, quota, cost, etc.).
This boosts DevOps productivity by enabling teams to self-serve their infrastructure needs (such as provisioning compute or updating network configurations) while promoting standardization, operational consistency, and compliance.
Enable line-of-business, IT admins, or release managers to create and run patching via the GUI or work through API CLI. Easily connect your existing automation scripts, CI/CD processes, compliance policies, or other tooling.
Coming soon: Customers will be able to curate standardized runbooks and other artifacts to share with specific teams in the organization. This enables line-of-business admins and other staff to take an active role in patching and operating their environments without the need for senior IT expertise or coding experience. It also helps ensure that organizational policies and required processes are followed.
