Extend Oracle Analytics Architecture and Security Models to Enhance Functionality and Connectivity

Why Are We Building This?
To enable the many functional improvements articulated in this roadmap and tailor how the suite behaves in a test/production environment, new and enhanced capabilities for Oracle Analytics’ underlying architecture are necessary. Security and connectivity protocols expand options for how you can connect to data sources and how the system will authenticate users.

What are enterprise architecture extensions?

The following enhancements are planned to the supporting architecture for the enhanced security of Oracle Analytics:

  • Provide networking options to enable customers to: allow private connections to their Oracle Analytics Cloud environments, connect Oracle Analytics Cloud to on-premises data sources, and connect Oracle Analytics Cloud to other Oracle Cloud services.
  • Enhance the security model so that customers can tailor user capabilities. These privileges can be macro- or micro-functions such as: restricting who can upload files and limiting which options are available when right-clicking on a menu.
  • Enable anonymous user login when content is stored on a public site.
  • Improve the security of connections to data sources by using mechanisms such as Kerberos and SSL.
  • Activate simultaneous multiuser access to analytics objects.
  • Provide self-service metadata management for business-driven knowledge fabric creation.
  • Provide customers with fine-grained control to manage the environment lifecycle. For example: require patching of development/test environment before committing patches to production environment.

How does this benefit you, the customer?

The architecture and security model supporting Oracle Analytics enables an expanded set of options that will allow you to tailor the system to your organization’s needs. Some of these capabilities may not be apparent through an interface, but they will unlock more advanced features in releases to come.
