Work package structure and modifications

Oracle Construction and Engineering’s AWP solution provides a consistent and structured approach to packaging work with the construction sequence. Any modifications to a work package are automatically captured and become part of the audit trail, so details such as which constraint was cleared and what may have been reconstrained are clearly communicated and become part of the project record.

Procurement Work Package

Integrated processes, systems, and data are key to the Advanced Work Package solution. Project stakeholders and AWP practitioners can manage and track material requisitions, purchase order line items, and supplier information from the integrated system of record, generally the ERP system. The Procurement Work Package consolidates relevant information from the Engineering Work Package, Construction Work Package, and construction work area. The integrated AWP solution and seamless data flow minimize errors, rework, and administrative overhead.

Construction Work Package

The Oracle solution provides visibility into the package scope and schedule. AWP practitioners can see the relationships between scopes of work packages that contribute to a Construction Work Package (CWP) from a single view without having to move between screens or systems. Additionally, work packages follow a predefined, guided workflow process to ensure that constraints are identified and resolved prior to the workflow proceeding.

Engineering Work Package

Relationship management is automated in terms of documentation, status and access, drawings, and specifications that support the scope of work within the context of the Engineering Work Package (EWP). The EWP informs the status of engineering readiness to the CWP as well as the Primavera P6 schedule so that project managers can transparently see what work has been completed so far and how much work is remaining.

Installation Work Package

Relationships between Installation Work Packages (IWP) and Construction Work Packages are managed along with constraints associated with the IWP through a system-generated audit log coupled with a workflow engine. All information needed to complete the scope of the IWP is organized within a single view. For the WorkFace Planner, the IWP is integrated with the 3D model so that IWP planning can be performed directly from the 3D user interface. The IWP also includes integrated data from the Primavera P6 schedule so that progress and status of the IWP can be reflected in the project schedule.

Integration between the Advanced Work Packaging solution and UPV visualization tool provides a model of the asset, the construction work area of that asset, and the detail of each Installation Work Package within that construction work area.

Tagged asset management

Asset tags are the identifiers that are used to tie the element on the model to the installation bill of materials and the associated Installation Work Package to help ensure that all the materials needed for a given IWP are onsite. So missing or incorrect materials will not become a constraint.

The clear and complete checklist within the Installation Work Package form helps ensure the IWP is ready and no constraints remain.
