Senior Vice President, User Experience Design
Hillel Cooperman is senior vice president of user experience design at Oracle, where he is transforming Oracle’s user experiences for customers. Cooperman is focused on bringing state-of-the-art, consumer-grade user experiences across devices to enterprise software scenarios. His goal is to raise the bar on every interaction customers have with Oracle software and with Oracle itself.
Most recently Cooperman served as design director of Microsoft’s Azure Data and Machine Learning Platform. Prior to that he was cofounder of Jackson Fish Market, a design and digital transformation agency that he built with longtime colleague Jenny Lam. Previously, Cooperman worked for Microsoft from 1997 to 2006. His most recent role during that stint was as product unit manager of the Windows User Experience team delivering the Windows AERO desktop user experience. Cooperman has also been a speaker at numerous design and industry events including San Francisco Design Week, the Seattle Interactive Conference, DesignThinkers, CreativeMornings, Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference, O’Reilly Tools of Change, Microsoft Ignite, and TED.
Cooperman has a BA in history from Brandeis University, and his interests are diverse. He is the coauthor of a series of design books called Making Things Special and a series of novels called The Madrona Heroes Register. Cooperman has served on the board and as a technical advisor for BlackPast.org—the largest resource of African-American history on the internet. He was also the first food blogger to ever be nominated for a James Beard award.
