Founded in 2003, Billups, Inc. specializes in out-of-home (OOH) media services, serving a robust client base that includes communications agencies as well as national and global brands. The full-service firm delivers traditional, non-traditional, and digital OOH advertising, including outdoor advertising, as well as experiential/stunt media. Billups also provides concept development; media planning, buying, production, and posting; and post-buy evaluation services.

Projects such as the creation, production, and installation of distinct advertising programs are the foundation of Billups’ business model. The firm was running its business on a set of disperse, legacy applications that were highly customized, increasingly difficult to manage, and offered limited visibility into individual projects and key performance indicators. As Billups continued to grow, it looked to modernize its enterprise applications to expand business insight, ensure scalability, and reduce IT complexity. The company selected Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Cloud to help it improve business performance by extending visibility across its financial, project, procurement, and sales processes.

Even as the company continues to roll out Oracle ERP Cloud, Billups is experiencing several early benefits, including the ability to drill-down into financial, project, and sales data, as well as streamlined reporting capabilities. For example, with Oracle Financials Cloud and Oracle Project Portfolio Management Cloud, Billups can easily create a high-level income statement for senior executives, while providing account managers with the detailed financial and schedule information they need to manage individual projects more precisely.

Native integration with other Oracle solutions, including Oracle Financials Cloud, ensures consistent data across the organization, while avoiding the costs, time, and complexity associated with one-off integrations. For example, in the media industry, clients frequently realign their advertising buys, such as extending the contract for a transportation shelter ad from one-month to three-months. Previously, Billups had to manually update multiple systems to capture and execute these changes. Oracle ERP Cloud has an integrated data model that enables the firm to record these changes once and have the updated data immediately available to its other Oracle applications. In the future, Billups looks to benefit from Oracle’s open API strategy to streamline integration with the company’s proprietary order management system.

The company’s new cloud applications deliver several additional benefits to the company. For example, Billups has reduced its IT management burden and can rapidly take advantage of new application functionalities as they becomes available—empowering the company to focus more resources on its core mission of delivering exceptional experiences to agencies and brands.
