Business challenges

Levi Strauss & Co. is an iconic jeans maker with nearly 150 years in the textile market. In addition to jeans, today it manufactures casual, sports, and children’s clothing, footwear, and accessories with a focus on reducing its environmental impact. Ninety percent of the company’s products are sustainably made with a commitment to reduce GHG emissions across the supply chain by 2025.

With the arrival of COVID-19, Levi Strauss de Mexico recognized the need to accelerate digital business and direct consumers beyond physical stores to digital shopping channels. The problem was that the organization did not have a solution in place that would allow it to quickly adapt to the increasingly booming digital environment.

During the evaluation of the project, we ran financial scenarios where we estimated a one-year recovery timeline. In actuality, we recovered our investment by month five.

Why Levi Strauss de México chose Oracle

Levi Strauss de Mexico needed to realize a fast return on investment and a robust email messaging tool at a reasonable cost. Early involvement of Oracle and BDS Consulting as partners, establishment of a clear implementation timetable and goals, and dedication from both parties played a critical role in Levi’s choice.


Results were immediate. In less than 6 months, Oracle Responsys Campaign Management became Levi’s #1 conversion tool, generating 10% of all sales and surpassing a 4% to 5% conversion rate during large promotional periods. Additionally, Levi’s achieved a 98%-plus delivery rate across email deployments, increased open rates from 12% to 20%, and obtained an unsubscribe rate of less than 1%.

Thanks to the robust, automated, and flexible campaign management tool, part of the Oracle Advertising and Customer Experience suite of applications, Levi’s can manage the entire process from strategy development to the design and distribution of email messages with only two people working a couple of hours per week. Finally, the organization recovered its investment in Oracle Responsys in half the expected time, generating a return in just 5 months.
