MoneyGram International Inc. is a global provider of innovative money transfer and payment services and is recognized worldwide as a financial connection to friends and family. Whether online, or through a mobile device, at a kiosk, or in a local store, MoneyGram connects consumers any way that is convenient for them. The company also provides bill payment services, issues money orders, and processes official checks in select markets. The rapidly growing financial services company was looking to expand its business by integrating its human resources (HR) capabilities across its global workforce.

Challenges
  • Use a single human capital management (HCM) system across 40 global locations—and consolidate two HR databases in the United States and United Kingdom—to ensure consistent HR policies and processes and improve employee data accuracy
  • Eliminate manual processes and increase visibility into HR data across 40 global locations, ensure compliance with country-specific security requirements, and provide employees and managers with access to actionable information
  • Improve efficiency throughout HCM processes from recruitment and onboarding to compensation, performance, goal, and talent management
  • Improve employee productivity and satisfaction by allowing users to easily access and update information
Results
  • Deployed a scalable, multi-country, multi-language human capital management (HCM) solution to provide employees, managers, and the HR team with a single source of truth for all HR data
  • Reduced effort for U.S. payroll processing by using Oracle Human Capital Management to eliminate manual processes and effectively manage compensation for a global workforce across 40 countries
  • Enabled MoneyGram to further explore its HR data by creating a secure, single source of truth for global reporting
  • Provided a unified self-service platform for accessing and managing candidate applications and accelerated hiring procedures, ultimately supporting the company’s growth in the money transfer and payment services market
  • Automated employee recruitment and onboarding processes to enable MoneyGram to reduce the time to offer from 62 days to 40 days and time to start from 88 days down to 60 days, as well as ensured 50% savings in overall recruiting and onboarding efforts
  • Achieved seamless integration between the Oracle Cloud solutions that the company expects will generate a 10-fold return on investment with increased data integrity
  • Streamlined user identities and access rights management and automated enforcement of segregation of duties policies to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Deployed a cloud platform that can scale with business growth, enabling the company to continually upgrade and update its systems so that HR can continue to run smoothly
  • Positioned the company to, in the future, improve efficiency and simplify processes by enabling users to access important information—including payroll, benefits, or personal information—anywhere and from the device of their choice

We wanted a global, centralized, standardized HR environment to effectively manage our employees located in 40 countries. Oracle HCM Cloud met all our needs and provided a secure and scalable cloud platform that will continue to grow with us.

Execution

MoneyGram took a phased implementation approach. The company went live with Phase One on March 12, 2016 which included recruiting, core HR, and U.S. payroll.

MoneyGram has been working toward its Phase Two go-live, which will include workforce compensation, performance management, goal management, and succession planning. MoneyGram is targeting these modules to go to the business in late Q4, 2016 and early Q1, 2017. Additionally, the company plans to lay out an HR IT technology roadmap to track progress over the next three to five years.

“I cannot stress enough the importance of change management. We carefully planned our implementation by hosting office hours for employees and on-site trainings to ensure our HR team and subject matter experts were well versed on the new Oracle system,” Peacher said.
