Share

We have 50 users of Oracle EPM Cloud and they can all testify to the fact that budget work is now done faster and easier than before. A great benefit is that we can use it as a tool in our strategic activities.

Norwegian Nurses Organisation Streamlines Planning, Budgeting, and Strategic Activities with Cloud Service, Cutting Time and Costs

Norwegian Nurses Organisation (Norsk Sykepleierforbund), NSF, is Norway’s nationwide trade union of nurses, certified nurses, specialist nurses, midwives, and nursing students. NSF works for the interests of its members, including items such as terms of wages, working hours, employment, and pension rights. It is Norway’s fourth largest trade union with over 108,000 members.

Challenges
  • Upgrade or replace the nurse union’s existing planning and budgeting solution that had become unstable
  • Streamline and simplify NSF’s planning and budgeting process, and minimize system downtime
  • Implement a planning and budgeting solution to better achieve the association’s strategic goals, for example determining members’ wages
  • Improve the basis for mission-critical operational and tactical decisions through enhanced financial analysis and reporting
  • Lower the costs of operation and management of the planning and budgeting solution, and free up resources for the IT staff that could instead be used to develop the solution
Results
  • Implemented Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service and successfully streamlined, sped up, and simplified the planning and budgeting process, making great time savings in the process, and minimized the risk of downtime
  • Made it possible to use the cloud service as a tool to better achieve the association’s strategic goals, for example when it comes to members’ wages, and the administration of the association’s assets
  • Improved the basis for the management team’s mission-critical operational and tactical decision-making through the cloud solution’s improved analysis and reporting capabilities, for example in terms of the membership development
  • Created a stable foundation for further development of the planning and budget process on account of Oracle’s continuous upgrading and development of the cloud solution
  • Freed up resources for the IT staff, who no longer have responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and updates of servers, which can instead be used to develop the planning and budgeting solution—and made savings of around $25,000 a year as investments in hardware are no longer needed

Oracle was the natural choice given our positive experience with Oracle Hyperion Planning that we previously had for several years as an on-premises solution. Oracle is a stable vendor, and we look forward to an exciting future with the cloud service.

“Oracle Platinum Partner Sucaba Norway helped us implement the solution. The existing infrastructure was integrated into the new solution, and the entire process from the very first meeting to go live was only 4–5 months. Sucaba has also helped us on other levels, such as how to use the solution as a strategic tool,” said Pål Kristen Rønnevik at Norwegian Nurses Organisation.
