Founded in 1996, Taikang Life Insurance (Taikang Life) is one of China’s leading life insurers, offering products such as enterprise annuity, asset management, retirement community, and health insurance. The company also developed a range of integrated online and offline insurance services, including life, health, accident, variable life, and annuities insurances. Taikang Life is preparing an initial public offering for the Shanghai and Hong Kong stock exchanges.

With more than US$100 billion customer assets under management, Taikang Life wanted to transform its insurance services and improve customer experience. By partnering with Ctrip.com International Ltd., China’s largest online travel agency, it delivers online insurance sales and related services to 250 million Ctrip.com members and supports business growth.

Execution

After evaluating various leading IT infrastructure providers, Taikang Life implemented Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 to upgrade and build an enterprise-grade online insurance sales platform. Assisted by Oracle Consulting, Taikang Life deployed Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 in just four days—from hardware installation to database migration. Oracle’s engineers also performed power-up checks for hardware devices and configured system software on-site, enhancing overall performance of the database and critical online insurance sales applications.
