Yonehachi Group Gains Real-Time Visibility into Shop Profitability, Enables Easy User Adoption, and Enhances Competitive Edge with Oracle

Yonehachi Group, K.K. specializes in providing take away or catering service for hand-made Japanese Bento lunch boxes and other traditional Japanese food via more than 100 retail shops in major train stations, highway service areas, and large department stores.

Due to its traditional branding and business model, senior shop managers were reluctant to adopt new technology and used paper forms to manually compile daily financial reports and faxed them to the head office. This caused significant delay in decision-making and negatively impacted company profitability. To increase its competitive edge in the industry, Yonehachi Group wanted to implement an enterprisewide ERP cloud solution to easily and accurately monitor business activities and support future growth into the ecommerce space.

  • Enable head office to make timely decisions and maximize shop profitability by automating the daily financial reporting process and providing real-time visibility of business performance, such as sales revenue for each food product
  • Improve collaboration efficiency between head office departments, including accounting, HR, procurement, and business development, and respond rapidly to new opportunities and the changing food service business environment, such as economic downturn
  • Improve user adoption—particularly for those senior shop managers who are reluctant to learn a new IT system—by providing an intuitive ERP system to access financial information anytime, anywhere from a familiar mobile device
  • Reduce initial IT investment and avoid hardware risk to ensure stable shop operations
  • Increased the profitability for each retail shop by providing drill-down visibility of the sales volume and revenue apportioned for different products with Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Cloud, enabling head office to make faster strategic decisions, such as launching promotions to focus on selling more profitable food products
  • Realized an extremely easy and smooth user adoption by adopting an intuitive Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning Cloud (Oracle ERP Cloud) and allowing users—even with lower IT literacy—to easily use the system with nearly zero training requirement and access data from smart phones and tablet devices they use in their daily life
  • Improved team collaboration and enhanced competitive edge by using an integrated Oracle ERP Cloud rather than disparate systems from multiple departments, giving the company better ability to expand to new business areas, such as introducing ecommerce to the food service, and respond faster to changing economic environment
  • Ensured data accuracy and reduced burden on shop managers by automating the aggregation of financial data across all the retail shops in the country and allowing head office to gain real-time access to live financial data, such as daily revenue and ingredients expenses for each shop
  • Enhanced control for the production, logistics, and quality assurance processes and minimized food waste by providing real-time view of production volume, abandonment rate, and stock level by each product and retail shop, thanks to Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence for Financials Cloud Service
  • Supported business growth by using Oracle ERP Cloud’s social network to enable head office departments, shop managers, and employees to instantly share knowledge and information that helps to boost customer satisfaction and sales, such as window display for different lunch boxes and pop banners
  • Avoided substantial initial IT costs and ongoing maintenance burden for a medium-sized enterprise without in-house IT staff by moving from the on-premises to Oracle ERP Cloud
  • Ensured continuous shop operations by using a highly available Oracle ERP Cloud and eliminating system downtime with the legacy hardware

Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning Cloud is flexible and scalable, enabling us to reduce initial IT costs and respond quickly to new opportunity and changing business environment. The intuitive interface also helped our users to easily and rapidly adopt the new system from day one.
