The Oracle database Kubernetes operator is a set of controllers that extends the  Kubernetes API to automate the management (creation, provisioning, binding, configuration, start, stop, backup, patching, and so on) of Autonomous Databases (ATP, ADW, AJD, APEX), containerized Oracle database instances (single instance, sharded, RAC), and VMDB/ DBaaS.

The end user interacts with the operator via the kubectl command line interface.
