Leading chip designer advances its ‘Journey to the Cloud’ with OracleMunich and Reading UK—May 12, 2021
Oracle today announced that German-British chip manufacturer Dialog Semiconductor has partnered with Oracle to migrate its product development functions to the Cloud as part of the company’s multi-year technology transformation initiative.
Dialog, whose customers include Apple, Samsung, and Microsoft Xbox, is a leading manufacturer of mixed-signal integrated circuits optimized for smartphones, computing, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, LED solid-state lighting and smart home applications. As part of the latest stage in the firm’s ‘Journey to the Cloud’, which began four years ago, Dialog will start running all testing and analysis around its product design – a critical stage in ensuring the success in the chip manufacturing process – on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Exadata Cloud Service.
Migrating its operations to the Cloud from an on-premises environment will enable Dialog to drive data integration across its manufacturing operations while achieving not only significant operational cost savings and but also higher productivity to drive innovation.
“As we considered migrating to a pure cloud environment, OCI was the best option for us given its performance, stability, and security. Against the backdrop of a highly competitive semiconductor market, Oracle Cloud’s flexibility and scalability have also proven to be major advantages,” said Jochen Hinderberger, Director of IT Applications, Dialog Semiconductor.
Oracle has been supporting Dialog with Cloud infrastructure solutions for more than a decade and has enabled the firm to achieve significant savings by utilizing Oracle Cloud resources delivered as a managed service in its own data centers. The Oracle roll-out concludes this year with the migration of Dialog’s development processes to the Cloud and that of its Oracle Database estate to Exadata Cloud Service.
"With Oracle Cloud, Dialog Semiconductor is benefitting from reduced costs and higher security, as well as significantly higher performance and productivity. This places the company in a perfect position for the future," explains Stefanie Kemp, Country Leader, Oracle Germany.
"The key to achieving the goals of this project was our long-standing relationship with the Oracle team which meant that they simply know our requirements very well. We are looking forward to continuing our successful collaboration," added Hinderberger.
Customers can accelerate their most challenging transaction processing and data analytics projects with Exadata Cloud Service in 26 global cloud regions. With architectural identicality across cloud and on-premises, Oracle Exadata Cloud Service makes it easy for customers to move even the largest and most demanding databases and workloads seamlessly to the cloud with no changes to applications. Breakthrough performance, scale and elasticity enable Exadata Cloud Service in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to run applications needing multiple workloads and data types in a single converged Oracle Database.
