21st Century Change Agent Awards
Oracle Change Agents of
Finance Awards

Celebrating the future of finance, one change agent at a time.

Introduction

Every corporation has a finance organization, but not every CFO has a change agent in his or her organization dedicated to transforming finance for the 21st century. It takes a special breed of finance professional who is able to capitalize on the cloud to identify the right digital KPIs driving value today; streamline and automate reporting for better, faster decision-making; and partner more effectively with the business to thrive during turbulent times.

Here at Oracle, we want to celebrate these unsung soldiers of finance with their very own awards: the Oracle Change Agents of Finance Awards. The awards program will be open to any individual or finance team using an Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) solution, either deployed alone or in conjunction with Oracle EPM Cloud, Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud, Oracle Procurement Cloud, Oracle Project Management Cloud, or Oracle Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Cloud. The program is global in nature and encompasses 10 categories that we believe celebrate the best of twenty-first century finance.

Individuals and/or finance teams are encouraged to nominate themselves or others in one or more of the categories. Oracle partners are also welcome to nominate their clients. The winners will be honored at Modern Finance Experience, presented by Oracle, February 13-15, 2018, in New York City.

Fast Finance Award

For a cloud ninja like you, implementing a new ERP or EPM cloud system is a breeze. Where others deliver results in months, you think in weeks—recognizing that the company that puts the pedal to the metal and implements sophisticated new solutions first stands to reap the largest rewards.

But speed alone isn’t enough to ensure your success. A truly great implementation starts with a clear plan and precise time-line, and gets users involved from the get-go.

If you’ve turned a great plan into a great implementation—and a great implementation into major business transformation—in a matter of weeks, you’re just what we’re looking for.

How fast is fast?
For this award, we’re looking for nominees that have achieved significant results with Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Cloud or Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Cloud in around 8 to 12 weeks.

Award Criteria
The Fast Finance Award will celebrate organizations with the fastest, highest-impact implementation of Oracle Cloud for finance applications (Oracle ERP Cloud or Oracle EPM Cloud). The submissions will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Implementation speed and quality, including the quality of the project plan and system design, adoption of best-practice business processes, successful execution of implementation timeline, a strong data migration strategy, and high user engagement and adoption
  • Implementation business impact, such as how the new system is enabling the organization to grow, absorb a new acquisition, roll out a new subsidiary or business unit, evolve the business model, and/or generally succeed in today’s fast-paced economic environment

Think you measure up?
If you think your implementation could put you in pole position, we want to know! Visit our nomination page today, and your heroic efforts could be officially recognized at the Oracle Change Agents of Finance Awards.

Frugal Finance Award

Benjamin Franklin famously said, “A penny saved is two pence clear.” It’s as true today as it was in 1737. The only thing that’s changed is the way we save money.

According to a new study by Nucleus Research, cloud applications now deliver a whopping 2.1 times the ROI of on-premises deployments. Of course, that should come as no surprise to you, an Oracle Cloud for finance customer who’s been using Oracle ERP Cloud or Oracle EPM Cloud to deliver some pretty extreme cost savings.

Whether you’ve improved budgeting, made processes more efficient, or automated tasks that previously consumed hundreds of man hours, we want to hear how you’ve looked after your pennies with Oracle Cloud for finance.

It’s All Relative
For this award, we’re not just looking for the largest amount of money saved; we want to see high savings relative to the size of your business and how you measured those savings.

Award Criteria
The Frugal Finance Award will honor an organization that has achieved dramatic cost savings using Oracle Cloud for finance applications (Oracle ERP Cloud or Oracle EPM Cloud), based on the following criteria:

  • Implementation cost savings, such as savings due to lower initial and ongoing costs to implement, including the ability to deliver greater value over time without the cost and disruption associated with upgrading, expanding, or changing business applications
  • Process-driven cost savings, due to automation of key back-office processes or rollout of new cost-reduction strategies such as zero-based budgeting

Have you been watching your pennies?
If you think your savings fit the bill, we want to know! Visit our nomination page today, and your heroic efforts could be officially recognized at the Oracle Change Agents of Finance Awards.

Procure-to-Payday Award

In your world, P2P isn’t peer-to-peer—that’s so 1999. You know that automation is the key to clearer, more-efficient procurement processes, and more-efficient spending across the business.

But automating procurement isn’t just about saving money. It’s also an important part of helping procurement become a more-strategic driver in the business—freeing procurement experts from long, paper-based processes so that they can focus on improving supplier relationships and internal practices.

From more-touchless transactions to smarter spending, we want to hear how you’ve turned procurement into a major payday.

Everything's Better When Everyone’s Connected
A key reason to use Oracle Procurement Cloud is to automate and improve collaboration across procurement processes. To have a chance of winning this award, we want to see how you’re helping everyone work together to improve procurement.

Award Criteria
The Procure-to-Payday Award honors an outstanding procurement executive who has transformed the P2P process using Oracle Procurement Cloud, based on the following criteria:

  • Uses self-service procurement to control maverick or off-contract spend
  • Uses spend analytics to make the P2P process more strategic, negotiating better contracts with key suppliers and predicting future spending patterns
  • Automates the payables process with touchless transactions to strengthen control and eliminate errors

Think you fit the bill?
If that sounds like you, we want to know! Visit our nomination page today, and your heroic efforts could be officially recognized at the Oracle Change Agents of Finance Awards.

Modern Close Award

Closing isn’t the flashiest or the most glamorous finance process, but it is one of the most critical to your operations.

Do it wrong, and you’ll be neck-deep in paperwork up until the last minute. But do it right, and you can give your top finance talent the time and freedom to make a real difference to the rest of your business.

As a master of close, you’ll be used to streamlining close processes and running them in parallel to your other operations. You also recognize the value of closing the books as quickly as possible, so that you can provide the right people with the right insights, at the earliest possible opportunity.

What does world-class close look like?
With this award, we’re looking for some truly exceptional close processes, typically those taking five or fewer days. But, the award is also open to those who have reduced their close times by a large percentage.

Award Criteria
The Modern Close Award recognizes outstanding achievement by a controller or finance executive using Oracle Cloud for finance applications, based on the following criteria:

  • Reduction in days to close the books
  • Reduction in the number of chart of accounts to reduce or eliminate account reconciliations
  • "Ruthless standardization" to ensure that the close process is repeatable, predictable, and scalable
  • Strong governance and data management processes in place to ensure data quality

Crystal Ball Award

If you rely on guesswork palm readers or psychic intuition to make financial planning decisions, this award definitely isn’t for you

We’re looking for a financial planning and analysis guru who knows that a successful business is fueled by data-driven insights, not gut instincts.

If you spend your days turning structured and unstructured data into actionable business insight that helps your company make better-informed decisions, you just might be able to walk away with our Crystal Ball Award.

What makes a true financial planning and analysis (FP&A) guru?
To have a chance of winning this award, you need to be making the most of all of the valuable data available to you—from structured enterprise data to unstructured sources—then using that data to guide the business forward profitably using Oracle Cloud for finance applications.

Award Criteria
The Crystal Ball Award recognizes outstanding achievement by an FP&A professional, based on the following criteria:

  • You leverage advanced analytics to continuously refine and test the business model and strengthen finance’s impact on business outcomes
  • You ensure that everyone is making decisions based on the same source of high-quality data
  • You invest in the right design and tools (dashboards, visualization tools, mobile BI, for example) to deliver right-time insights to decision-makers

Can you see a win in your future?
If all signs point to your being a perfect nominee, we want to know! Visit our nomination page today, and your heroic efforts could be officially recognized at the Oracle Change Agents of Finance Awards.

Roll with It Award

If you rely on weather forecasts created months in advance, pretty soon you’ll end up waist-deep in snow, wearing your best Bermuda shorts and Hawaiian shirt. Much like those fashion choices, acting on outdated forecasts isn’t a great look on anyone.

For a forecast to stay accurate, it must be changed frequently using the most recent and relevant data available—and doing that at speed requires both sophisticated technology and an agile approach to planning.

If you’re constantly re-forecasting to get ahead of change and using best-practice methodologies like driver-based rolling forecasts to plan at the speed of business, we want you!

Do your plans go with the crowd?
The best plans pull data and insight from across the business and your extended network. To have a chance of winning this award, you need to harness the “wisdom of crowds” to create the most accurate forecasts possible.

Award Criteria
The Roll with It Award honors an organization that has significantly increased its agility using the continuous planning functionality in Oracle EPM Cloud to adopt a rolling forecast model. Special consideration will be given to organizations that use Oracle EPM Cloud to:

  • Significantly reduce the use of manual spreadsheets in the planning process
  • Speed response time-to-market challenges or opportunities using drive-based rolling forecasts
  • Exploit the “wisdom of crowds” to drive planning across the extended enterprise

How's your outlook looking?
If the clouds are parting and a beam of light is shining down on you, we want to know! Visit our nomination page today, and your heroic efforts could be officially recognized at the Oracle Change Agents of Finance Awards.

Better Together Award

Do you hear that? There’s something going on in your back office. It’s a match made in heaven that’s happening right under your nose, but there’s certainly nothing forbidden about this romance.

When Oracle ERP Cloud is deployed on its own, it’s great. But once you tightly integrate it with another Oracle Cloud solution, that’s when the sparks really start to fly.

We want to hear about the romances going on in your back office, between Oracle ERP Cloud and whichever other Oracle Cloud solution it has taken a fancy to across Oracle’s portfolio of ERP, EPM, and Oracle Supply Chain Management Cloud solutions.

True Love Knows No Bounds
No matter which Oracle Cloud solutions you’ve integrated with Oracle ERP Cloud, as long as the results have been significant enough, this is the award for you. Think Oracle ERP Cloud and Oracle EPM Cloud to gain a single source of financial truth for reporting and performance management; Oracle ERP Cloud and Oracle Supply Chain Management Cloud to optimize operations, or Oracle ERP Cloud and Oracle Project Portfolio Management Cloud to gain greater visibility into project financial performance and profitability.

Award Criteria
The Better Together Award honors an organization that has achieved significant benefits across the business by tightly integrating Oracle ERP Cloud with another core Oracle Cloud solution.

Whichever suite you’ve integrated with Oracle ERP Cloud, we want to know—so long as the results have been meaningful for you and your business.

Is something going on in your back office?
If your office is playing host to two Oracle Cloud solutions that were clearly made for each other, we want to know! Visit our nomination page today, and your heroic efforts could be officially recognized at the Oracle Change Agents of Finance Awards.

Shared Services Superstar Award

If there’s a robot in your shared services organization, it’s time to give them a well-deserved high five. We’re talking robotics process automation, the latest craze in next-generation shared services. Unfortunately, according to McKinsey (2016), the vast majority of organizations still haven’t developed digital capabilities within their shared services organizations; in fact, just 25 percent have rolled out any kind of automation at all!

As a shared services trailblazer, you know that automating routine tasks is the key to freeing your people up to focus on the things that really matter—like innovation, service improvement, and other value-adding activities.

What has digital done for you?
We’re not just interested in hearing how you’re using Oracle Cloud for finance in shared services; we want to hear about the results it’s had for you! From greater economies of scale to higher levels of service delivery, this award is as much about the results as it is about the applications.

Award Criteria
The Shared Services Superstar Award recognizes a shared services organization using Oracle Cloud for finance applications to develop digital capabilities to achieve best-in-class service delivery. Special consideration will be given to organizations that can demonstrate:

  • Development of centers of expertise to support strategic processes
  • Development of analytics-based capabilities that support improved decision-making
  • Incorporation of next-generation technologies and methodologies—such as process automation, artificial intelligence, or agile methodologies—to drive large-scale automation, free up capacity, and increase flexibility

Is it time we shared your success?

Oracle Billion-Dollar Story Honorary Award

In 1999, Oracle Founder Larry Ellison made a famously bold claim to financial analysts. He said that by using its own e-business applications, Oracle could save US$1 billion annually. It seemed steep—almost impossible at the time—but one year later, Ellison made good on his word.

Oracle didn’t just save more than a billion dollars. It also improved its operating margins by 11.7 points the next year—thus beginning the legend of the Oracle Billion Dollar Story.

Today, we’re looking for exceptional organizations that are following in our footsteps—using Oracle Cloud for finance applications to deliver monumental savings, similar in scale to those famously achieved by Oracle. You don’t have to save a billion to win. We’re looking for huge savings, but they don’t have to exceed a billion dollars for you to stand a chance of winning. Show us how you’ve made your own huge savings, and tell us how your own story is progressing.

Award Criteria
If you’re using Oracle Cloud for finance applications to create your own Billion Dollar story, we want to hear from you! Nominations for the Oracle Billion-Dollar Story Honorary Award must meet the following criteria:

  • You’ve simplified your environment by standardizing—or moving to standardize—on a single instance using Oracle ERP Cloud or Oracle EPM Cloud
  • You’ve centralized processes when it makes sense, to strengthen control and eliminate duplication
  • You’ve streamlined and automated as many processes as possible, embracing touchless transactions
  • You can demonstrate quantitative savings through your IT transformation (maybe not quite a billion dollars, but you get the idea)

Ready to share your story?
If you’re on your way to saving a billion, we want to know! Visit our nomination page today, and your heroic efforts could be officially recognized at the Oracle Change Agents of Finance Awards.
