Cloud Connectivity Services with FastConnect

Physical Connectivity

FastConnect: With an Oracle Provider

FastConnect Partner

You can establish a FastConnect connection from your on-premise or remote data center to the data center where your Oracle Cloud resources are provisioned by requesting cloud connectivity services from any of Oracle's FastConnect partners. Oracle has integrated the FastConnect service with a geographically diverse set of IP, VPN, and Ethernet network providers and cloud exchanges to make it easy for you to establish a connection to Oracle Cloud services.

See Oracle FastConnect Partners for a full list of data center locations.

This connectivity model is suitable if you plan to use or are already using network connectivity services from any Oracle FastConnect partner. Depending on the partner of choice, you may have to order redundant cloud connectivity services from the Oracle FastConnect partner.

FastConnect: Colocation with Oracle

Logical Colocation

If you have purchased colocation space from a data center provider, you can use Oracle FastConnect to establish connectivity from your network equipment in that colocation facility to your Oracle Cloud services provisioned at this location. Oracle will provide you a letter of authorization (LOA) that the data center provider will need in order to establish a direct cross-connect into Oracle's FastConnect edge devices.

This connectivity model is suitable if you already have presence at an Oracle FastConnect location or are looking to establish a colocation presence there. You can order two such connections to a data center if you need redundancy.

FastConnect: With a Third-Party Provider

Third Party Network Carrier

You can establish a FastConnect connection from your remote data center to the Oracle data center where your cloud resources are provisioned by ordering a private or dedicated circuit from a network carrier that is not an Oracle FastConnect Partner. This third-party network carrier, typically an MPLS VPN provider, will be responsible for the physical connection between your on-premise network and Oracle's FastConnect edge devices, including the last-leg of connectivity within Oracle's data center. Oracle will provide a letter of authorization (LOA) that you will need to provide to the network carrier of your choice, who will then provision the circuit. You can order two such circuits from your network carrier to the Oracle datacenter if you need redundancy.

This connectivity model is suitable if you have existing relationships with certain network carriers, and/or if your on-premise or remote data center location is not served by any of Oracle's FastConnect Partners.

Routing Models

Once you have established physical connectivity using one of the above models, you will also need to ensure you can reach Oracle Cloud services over FastConnect by exchanging IP routes between your network and the Oracle FastConnect service. This exchange of routes is accomplished by industry standard BGP routing protocol. The routing model is based on your physical connectivity model.

If you are connected directly to Oracle (colocation or third-party network carrier) your network equipment will be establishing BGP directly with Ora FastConnect devices.

Logical Colocation

If you are using an Oracle FastConnect network provider or exchange partners you may have to establish a BGP session either with this partner's devices or directly with Oracle FastConnect devices. Please check with the Oracle FastConnect Partner on the correct means of establishing BGP routing.

FastConnect Private and Public Peering

Private Peering

FastConnect Private peering enables you to extend your on-premise private (RFC1918) networks to Oracle Cloud. You can connect to Oracle Cloud resources like Compute IPNetworks or Private Subnet resources in VCNs from your on-premise private (RFC1918) networks without the need to use IPSec VPN or network address translation (NAT). There is bidirectional exchange of private IP prefixes between your on-premise networks and your private prefixes in Oracle Cloud (directly or via a partner’s network).

FastConnect Public Peering

FastConnect public peering enables you to access public services in Oracle Cloud without traffic traversing the internet path. Using FastConnect public peering, you can connect to public services like Oracle Object Storage, public load balancers in your VCN, public IPs on compute, or supported SaaS services. Oracle will advertise IP prefixes that belong to all public services in the region where you establish FastConnect public peering. Depending on the connectivity model you choose, you will either need to advertise public prefixes that you own, or use a partner who will NAT your RFC1918 prefixes to public IPs that will be advertised to Oracle.
