Juan Loaiza is the executive vice president of mission-critical database technologies at Oracle, reporting to Oracle Chairman of the Board and Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison. Juan is responsible for leading product strategy, product development, and product management for the world’s leading transaction processing and engineered systems technologies—both in the public cloud and on premises.

Juan holds BS and MS degrees in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 1988, he left the MIT doctoral program to join the Oracle Database engineering team and has been an innovator in database technologies ever since.

Andrew Mendelsohn
Andrew Mendelsohn Executive Vice President, Database Server Technologies, Oracle

Andrew Mendelsohn is executive vice president for database server technologies at Oracle. He’s responsible for products and services centered around Oracle Database, including development, test, and product management of much of the core Oracle Database product. In addition, Andrew’s responsibilities encompass Oracle’s cloud services, including Autonomous Data Warehouse and Autonomous Transaction Processing on shared infrastructure, Cloud SQL, Data Safe, and Big Data; developer tools such as Application Express (APEX) and SQL Developer; and database security products including Key Vault and Audit Vault/Database Firewall. Finally, Andrew also runs customer support for Oracle Database Cloud Services and Oracle Database on Exadata.

Andrew began his career at Oracle as a developer on Oracle Database 5.1 in 1984. Prior to joining Oracle, he worked at HP and ESVEL. He holds a BSE in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University and did graduate work in computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Chris Chelliah
Chris Chelliah Senior Vice President, Technology and Customer Strategy, Asia Pacific & Japan

In this role, Chelliah is responsible for the Japan & Asia Pacific go-to-market, aligning Oracle’s hypergrowth innovation in Cloud Infrastructure and Autonomous Database with customer adoption. He also runs the Oracle Cloud Insight team, which brings together experience from top-tier strategy firms to provide a consultative framework for customers to realize the potential of their digital roadmap.

Chelliah has more than 28 years of experience with digital and data driven systems; 25 of those years have been with Oracle across different portfolios in Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America.

Chelliah has held other roles within the company, where he focused on consulting and implementation services in large, global projects across the telecommunications, financial services, and government sectors, driving disruptive & innovative software solutions.

Chelliah holds a post grad degree in computer and mathematical sciences, from the University of Western Australia. He has been published in a number of trade and industry journals and is the coauthor of Professional Oracle Programming, a Wiley publication. He is a featured speaker on Oracle’s vision, strategy, and architecture, and consults on critical and key customer projects throughout the region.

Maria Colgan
Maria Colgan Distinguished Product Manager, Oracle

Joining the company in 1996 when version 7.3 of the database was released, Maria Colgan is currently a distinguished product manager at Oracle. Maria’s core responsibility is to advocate for Oracle Database and the best practices for incorporating it into customer environments. She is also responsible for ensuring feedback from our customers and partners is incorporated into future product releases. Prior to this role, Maria was the product manager for Oracle Database In-Memory and the Oracle Database query optimizer.

Paul Sonderegger
Paul Sonderegger Senior Data Strategist, Oracle

Paul Sonderegger is a senior data strategist at Oracle where he helps executives among Oracle’s customers and partners understand the effects of data capital on competitive strategy and the future of enterprise computing. He also works with Oracle’s data management product teams in setting future product direction. Prior to joining Oracle, Paul was chief strategist at Endeca, a discovery analytics company. Before Endeca, Paul was a principal analyst at Forrester Research, specializing in search and user experience design. Paul has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University. Jenny Tsai-Smith
Jenny Tsai-Smith Vice President, Product Management, Oracle

Jenny Tsai-Smith is a vice president of product management at Oracle. Since joining the company in 1993, Jenny has held leadership roles spanning technical support, content development, education delivery, plus Oracle Cloud acceleration of startups and scientific research. In her current role as the leader for database product management, Jenny works with release and development management to take products and services from design through development to production. Her team runs the customer advisory board, drives technology adoption by partners, delivers field enablement, assists with migrations to Oracle Database, and works directly with a wide range of customers. He is the original architect and developer of Oracle Application Express (APEX), and he develops APEX apps every day. Some of Mike’s popular web apps include asktom.oracle.com, livesql.oracle.com, and apex.oracle.com. Mike also leads driver development for Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), python, .NET, and others. Prior to this role, Nipun directed a number of research initiatives at Oracle Labs with the aim of transferring these technologies into Oracle products. He also worked in the Oracle database group for about 15 years. Nipun has a MS in computer science and has been awarded more than 175 patents.

Melli Annamalai is a distinguished product manager at Oracle. She has more than 20 years of experience working with unstructured and semistructured data in the database, including multimedia data, data in Apache Hadoop platforms, property graphs, and RDF knowledge graphs. Michael Brey

Shasank Chavan

His team develops customer-facing, performance-critical features for Oracle’s In-Memory Column Store architecture which, as Larry Ellison proclaimed, “processes data at ungodly speeds.” His team is currently hyper-focused on leveraging emerging hardware technologies to build out Oracle’s next-generation, highly distributed data storage engine that powers the cloud. Mike Dietrich
Mike Dietrich Distinguished Product Manager, Oracle

Based in Bavaria, Germany and with almost 30 years of experience in the IT industry, Mike Dietrich is currently a distinguished product manager at Oracle focused on database upgrades and migrations. He is responsible for evangelizing, influencing, and demonstrating Oracle technology solutions related to database upgrades, migrations, and consolidation to Oracle customers and partners worldwide. He also works consistently with customers in key reference projects, both onsite and remotely, and he has become a patching specialist, troubleshooting upgrade and migration issues. During his 24 years at Oracle, Mike’s held senior and management roles in both the sales and support organizations before joining the database development organization. An experienced conference speaker, he frequently delivers technical workshops between the Arctic and Antarctic. Sanjay Goil
Sanjay Goil Vice President, Product Management, Oracle

Sanjay Goil is vice president of product management for messaging and microservices in Oracle Database. With more than 30 years at Oracle, Sharon Kennedy is currently a consulting member of technical staff specializing in Oracle Application Express (APEX). Her primary responsibility is special projects that involve Oracle APEX and data modeling. Her first Oracle APEX task was writing the company’s first conference room scheduler applications. Tirthankar Lahiri
Tirthankar Lahiri Senior Vice President, Data and In-Memory Technologies, Oracle

Tirthankar Lahiri is senior vice president of the data and in-memory technologies group for Oracle Database. He is responsible for Oracle Database In-Memory, Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database, Oracle NoSQL Database, and the Oracle Database engine including data and indexes, space management, transactions, and the database file system. Tirthankar has 25 years of experience in the database industry and has worked extensively in a variety of areas including manageability, performance, scalability, high availability, caching, distributed concurrency control, in-memory data management, NoSQL architectures, and more. Juan Loaiza is the executive vice president of mission-critical database technologies at Oracle, reporting to Oracle Chairman of the Board and Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison. Andrew Mendelsohn
Andrew Mendelsohn Executive Vice President, Database Server Technologies, Oracle

Andrew Mendelsohn is executive vice president for database server technologies at Oracle. He’s responsible for products and services centered around Oracle Database, including development, test, and product management of much of the core Oracle Database product. In addition, Andrew’s responsibilities encompass Oracle’s cloud services, including Autonomous Data Warehouse and Autonomous Transaction Processing on shared infrastructure, Cloud SQL, Data Safe, and Big Data; developer tools such as Application Express (APEX) and SQL Developer; and database security products including Key Vault and Audit Vault/Database Firewall. Finally, Andrew also runs customer support for Oracle Database Cloud Services and Oracle Database on Exadata.

Andrew began his career at Oracle as a developer on Oracle Database 5.1 in 1984. Prior to joining Oracle, he worked at HP and ESVEL. He holds a BSE in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University and did graduate work in computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Kuassi Mensah
Kuassi Mensah Director, Product Management, Oracle

As director of product management at Oracle, Kuassi Mensah is responsible for multiple product areas including Java connectivity to Oracle Database—both in the cloud and on-premises—and in-place database processing with an embedded Java Virtual Machine. He also works on microservices and relational database management system (RDBMS) connectivity along with related topics such as data and Tx models, Kubernetes, Sagas, and compensation. Serverless functions, database connectivity, asynchronous and reactive database access, RxJava, Project Reactor, Akka Streams, and Reactive Relational Database Connectivity also fall under his purview. He oversees zero downtime, multitenancy, and sharding for Java apps and is experienced with turning RDBMS database tables into Hadoop and Spark datasources. He is a database Kubernetes operator.

Kothanda Umamageswaran is senior vice president of the Exadata team at Oracle. He has more than 23 years of experience building distributed storage, databases, and mission-critical systems. In his current role, he leads a worldwide organization responsible for the design and development of software on Oracle Exadata. He is responsible for solutions that coengineer hardware and software, enabling a ten-fold increase in performance. He pioneered the use of persistent memory with remote direct memory access to revolutionize online transaction processing workloads. Kothanda began his career at Oracle in 1997 and developed the virtual operating system that enabled Oracle to run on multiple platforms. He was a member of the C-language standard. Patrick Wheeler
