OPERA Cloud’s Post it Helps Hotels Serve Grab’n’go

Grab’n’go food and drink offerings are becoming more prevalent in hotels. Consumer trends have veered away from traditional sit-down restaurants. Guests want to be able to take something and consume it on the go or in their room. However, having staff members employed solely to process charges and payments in this area is a convenience that hotels can no longer afford with labor shortages and rising costs.

What is Post It?

Post It delivers a flexible solution that meets the needs of hotels without a full-service food and beverage offering, that require a full Point of Sale system. This may be hotels where the reception team also covers the bar and sundries shop, or where the restaurant only offers a very limited menu selection.

To provide a quick and simple way of processing these items, the Post It option within OPERA Cloud Property Management allows reception or concierge staff to quickly access a posting screen. From this screen, they can make the necessary charges and payments. Payments can be charged to a room or credit card/cash. This eliminates the need for dedicated sales staff and makes it easier and efficient for your front desk staff. It also creates a better experience, saving time for your guests.

How does Post It work?

The Post It function is in essence a mini-POS (Point of Sale) solution which allows hotels to configure articles with a pre-defined price. These items can be color coded and grouped into sections, such as Food, Drinks, Toiletries, etc. Staff select the items on the screen that the customer is purchasing and then simply charge to their room or cash/credit card with the option to print a receipt. Barcode scanners can also be used with the UPC 12-digit product code entered against the article configured in OPERA Cloud to make the process even faster.

Post It can also manage sales of other hotel consumables such as gift shop sales or spa treatments, extending its value even further. With the ability to also be used on a mobile device, charging for minibar items can be done instantly from the room.

What are the benefits of Post it?

All sales made through Post It are recorded within OPERA Cloud. A detailed breakdown of sales using the articles configured in Post It can also assist in taking and reconciling stock. This gives management an easy way to monitor sales across all revenue centers and improves customer satisfaction.
