Business challenges

Ailos, a credit cooperative in Brazil with more than a million members, wanted to elevate its fraud and financial crime defenses to ensure compliance as risk increased and incidents grew in frequency and severity. This goal was also important because the company had ambitious growth goals and a commitment to digital transformation, which require modern fraud detection capabilities.

The financial institution decided to focus on boosting defenses on its Electronic Available Transfer (Transferência Eletrônica Disponível or TED) transfer environment, a payment system in Brazil that allows same-day compensation. Nearly 70% of all fraud losses for the institution were related to TED transfers.

Why Ailos Chose Oracle

Ailos considered several options in its pursuit of new financial crime and compliance management solutions. It chose Financial Crime and Compliance Management for its strong reputation in the market, robust functionality, synchronous versus asynchronous mode, and Rest API versus HTTP API capabilities.

Results

With Oracle Financial Crime and Compliance Management as the foundation for its new financial crime and compliance environment, the company also deployed Oracle Financial Services Behavior Detection, Oracle Financial Services Enterprise Fraud Management, Oracle Financial Services Enterprise Case Management, Oracle Financial Services Financial Crime, and Compliance Management Analytics for an end-to-end solution.

Since deploying the Oracle solutions for its TED transfer environment, Ailos has eliminated all fraud losses associated with the product offering.

With Oracle, the organization also has introduced significant process automation that has improved case management efficiency by reducing false positives and associated research time. The organization has lowered overall risk while improving confidence—internally and externally—in the effectiveness of its fraud detection initiatives.

Oracle’s financial crime and compliance management solutions also support Ailos’s digital channel expansion strategy, which is key to its growth.
