Announcing the Only MySQL Service with an Integrated Analytics Engine, HeatWave

Oracle MySQL Database Service with Analytics Engine

HeatWave, developed for Oracle MySQL Database Service by the Oracle MySQL engineering team, is a new, in-memory analytic accelerator that scales to thousands of cores, supports real-time analytics, and is 2.7 times faster and up to 66 percent less expensive than Amazon Redshift. The service is optimized for and exclusively available in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This is the only MySQL offering in the industry that provides a single, unified platform for both online transaction processing (OLTP) and online analytics processing (OLAP) workloads.

During our tests of the new MySQL Database Service with HeatWave, we discovered astonishing performance improvements, reducing query times from hours to literally seconds in cases of nonindex-based queries. This enables us to expand services to new levels and opens the door to many more analytics-based capabilities.

Nipun Agarwal, vice president of research and advanced development at Oracle, demonstrates the only service available today that enables database admins and app developers to run OLTP and OLAP workloads directly from their MySQL database.

Delivering simplicity, performance, and cost savings

SCSK achieves faster results (0:58)

“HeatWave is 10 times faster than the analytics service of another major cloud vendor. Now there is no need for ETL. Compared to MySQL on-premises, the HeatWave is 4000 times faster.”

Square Enix sees performance gains (1:00)

“We ran the analytic workload of the Social Game Infrastructure group with HeatWave without requiring ETL or changing our application. It is up to 500 times faster than our current on-premises MySQL 5.7 instance.”
