Oracle Appoints Seema Verma to Lead Oracle Life Sciences

Austin, Texas —Apr 20, 2023

Oracle today announced that Seema Verma has been named senior vice president and general manager, Life Sciences. In this role, she will lead the Oracle Life Sciences and Oracle Cerner Enviza lines of business.

A leading expert in health policy, Verma brings decades of experience working across the healthcare system. Most recently, she served as a senior advisor to private equity firms Cressy & Co. and TPG. Prior to those roles, she was administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) where she had one of the longest terms in modern CMS history and was responsible for 6,000 employees and 100,000 contractors, as well as coverage for 145 million beneficiaries.

“Seema has a proven track record of success in both public and private sector healthcare,” said Mike Sicilia, executive vice president of Oracle Global Industries. “Because of this, she has a unique understanding of how to bring together those on the cutting edge of innovation and those in charge of regulation to help our customers make critical medical breakthroughs and bring new therapies to market.”

During her tenure as the CMS administrator, Verma played an important role in advancing value-based care, innovation, interoperability, and price transparency, while reducing drug prices and regulations through her historic Patients over Paperwork Initiative. In addition to these accomplishments, her leadership on the White House COVID-19 Task Force led to the widespread adoption of telehealth, Hospital at Home, and no-cost vaccines for the entire country.

Prior to her role as CMS administrator, Verma founded and sold a national consulting company and worked as a vice president for policy and planning for a public hospital, public health department, and health system. She has also served on the Board of Directors for Lumeris, Monogram, Wellsky, ClaimsXten, Lifestance and ShiftKey.

Verma is a graduate of the University of Maryland and received her master’s in Public Health, Health Policy & Administration from The Johns Hopkins University.
