Norwegian hotel chain modernizes with the OPERA Cloud platform to streamline its global operations and continue to deliver excellent guest services
Austin, Texas—Jun 24, 2024Thon Hotels, one of the largest hotel chains in Norway, has migrated its portfolio of hotels to the Oracle Hospitality OPERA Cloud platform. With OPERA Cloud Property Management (PMS), Sales and Events Management, and OPERA Cloud Central, Thon now has a unified suite of technology solutions that can support its strategic growth and help deliver stellar guest experiences. Benefits include more effectively and efficiently managing its guest loyalty program, mobile-enabled on-site services across its properties, direct distribution via its online booking engine, and contact center operations.
Working closely with Oracle, Thon transitioned 96 properties and customer data to OPERA Cloud in a single day. With a unified profile of its guests and operations, Thon can make better business decisions at the corporate and individual property levels, empowering staff with the real-time data they need to create consistent, personalized guest and loyalty experiences no matter which property a traveler stays.
“Moving to the cloud has helped us optimize operations both on and above our properties,” said Morten Thorvaldsen, CEO, Thon Hotels. “We saw the value in migrating all properties under 24 hours and Oracle went above and beyond to help ensure the migration of all properties happened in such a short timeframe. This helped ensure our staff could keep our operations running smoothly and our guests could continue to enjoy the consistent, high level of services they have come to expect.”
With the OPERA Cloud platform, Thon is reducing check-in and -out times by enabling staff to see room occupancy information, future reservations, staff information, and more, all in one location. Additionally, the mobile-friendly platform has enabled staff to make real-time decisions that can benefit guests anywhere on the property, not just the front desk.
”As Thon Hotels continues to expand, they require a modern, cloud-based hospitality platform with the tools and information required to evolve with the needs of its business and expectations of its guests,” said Alex Alt, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Hospitality and Retail. “Thon took a thoughtful and measured approach to change management that was essential to the success of this project and the ability to migrate so many hotels in one day. With our comprehensive, unified hospitality cloud platform, Thon is now equipped to offer hands-on guest services throughout the property, further enhancing its already stellar reputation.
Thon Hotels is one of Norway's largest hotel chains and is part of the Olav Thon Group. In Scandinavia there are approx. 90 hotels, 8 in Brussels and 2 in Rotterdam.
