Oracle Linux
Switching from CentOS to Oracle Linux: a hands-on example
On December 8 via the CentOS blog, Red Hat announced that CentOS Linux 8 would reach end-of-life in December 2021, which is eight years before the original expected EOL date. Anyone currently using CentOS Linux 8 as a drop-in RHEL replacement has to decide whether to switch to CentOS Stream (and thus lose 1:1 compatibility with RHEL, which has implications for development and test environments) or switch to RHEL which requires paid support subscriptions.
Oracle Solaris
Teaching an old ps command new tricks
Starting in Oracle Solaris 11.4.27 (released to support customers on November 18), /usr/bin/ps sports a number of changes.
Oracle Virtualization
Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager adds support for Oracle Linux 7 Update 9 and the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 6
Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager has expanded support for Oracle Linux KVM host to include Oracle Linux 7 Update 9 and the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 6 (UEK R6). The additions enable customers to access the capabilities introduced by the new Oracle Linux releases, particularly the latest hardware platform support.
