Oracle’s comprehensive hybrid cloud portfolio provides you with more flexibility and control over your cloud deployments than other vendors. Global customers are using Oracle’s hybrid cloud solutions to support their cloud transformations without the trade-offs in scale, data sovereignty, and control that they have had to make in the past.
Oracle Roving Edge Infrastructure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's (OCI) newest hybrid cloud offering, brings core infrastructure services to the edge with Roving Edge Devices (REDs) – ruggedized, portable, scalable server nodes. Using REDs running Oracle Roving Edge Infrastructure, organizations can run cloud workloads wherever they need them, even in the world’s most remote locations.
Enterprises get the exact same complete set of modern cloud services, APIs, industry-leading SLAs, superior price-performance, and highest levels of security available from Oracle’s public cloud regions in their own datacenters.
Only Oracle could offer the range of services to fuel ADC’s modern, scalable, secure data center.
With Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer, we’ve been able to achieve the same level or even better performance than our existing on-premises system while continuing to maintain the high level of availability we need.
Tomoshiro Takemoto Senior Corporate Managing Director, NRI
OCI provides a dedicated, cloud-native VMware-based environment enabling customers to maintain a high level of control while increasing their scalability and lowering costs.
Deploy mission-critical, enterprise-class workloads in Oracle Cloud VMware Solution—just as you would in your data center.
Oracle Cloud VMware Solution allowed us to quickly increase our capacity, implement hybrid and cloud-first architectures with complex connectivity, and offer low-latency connectivity to end users and other OCI cloud services.
Jeff Marraccini Senior Vice President, IT Strategy and Technology, Altair
We are rapidly increasing the amount of cloud services we offer, but also developing hardware to be used for on-prem deployment, hybrid cloud, and within our public cloud. Adoption of our hybrid solutions is strong. Many customers need the flexibility to consume cloud services in a specific location, with a greater level of control.
We today provide connectivity from OCI to Azure in multiple of our regions and believe in truly multicloud, hybrid environments. This is a good example of an Interconnect customer - https://www.oracle.com/customers/infrastructure/mestec/. We also have the ability to support connection between OCI and AWS through our partners Equinix and Megaport:
Roving Edge Devices are individually controlled locally (or across the cluster), with connectivity back up to the OCI tenancy. Roving Edge Devices do not require ongoing connectivity to operate; they are designed to operate in a disconnected or intermittently connected model.
Roving Edge Devices can be connected to each other to form a cluster. We offer 5 to 15 node clusters. As such, they share control and data planes across the cluster and are managed via a single interface.
It’s designed for tougher, intermittently connected or disconnected environments, as well as low-latency scenarios.
Roving Edge Devices are designed to be rugged and operate in various conditions around the world. We are in the process of doing independent lab testing in order to publish specific parameters for harsh environments.
Yes, the same levels of SLA apply for DRCC. OCI supports and operates the service.
All the cloud operational services are located on site at the Dedicated Region, so there is no disruption.
There is isolation between the parts managed by Oracle (the infrastructure) and those managed by customers. In addition, customer data can be encrypted using customer-controlled keys.
Fundamentally, we provide customers with full control, unlike our competition. We fully deploy the automated infrastructure, and once we’ve handed off to customers, they have root access and can customize and utilize their VMware tooling as needed.
OCVS is a customer-managed VMware solution, just like your on-premises VMware environment. The learning curve is not steep. Backup and Dedicated Region use cases are excellent initial opportunities to take advantage of cloud scalabilty and availability for a company new to cloud. These give a company the ability to use existing VMware skills and tools to deploy and maintain workloads to the cloud for business continuity purposes.
Licenses for VMware platform components such as vSphere, vSAN, NSX, HCX are included in the service. Customers can bring their licenses for tooling—including vRealize Suite and others—to the cloud after consultation with their local VMware team.
