SRACO Improves Productivity and Tracking Across Lines of Business with Oracle Cloud

SRACO is a construction, consulting, and facility maintenance conglomerate operating throughout Saudi Arabia with a focus on general contracting and commercial plant and facility maintenance. Its Contracting division directs its activities towards commercial general contracting and high-end government and semi-government projects. SRACO’s business activities were previously managed using various stand-alone on-premises applications and servers, making it difficult to provide management insights to enhance operations. The company decided to move to an integrated cloud platform to unify processes and increase transparency and project efficiency.

Challenges
  • Increase the profitability of maintenance and construction projects through improved cost controls, which required full transparency throughout the organization
  • Optimize internal coordination and follow-up of procurement and project activity, requiring integration across all business operations including finance, project management, purchasing, and human resources
  • Provide managers with better, more comprehensive reports on each business area, and reduce the effort required to collate information from disparate systems and paper-based processes
  • Improve relationships with more than 100 private, government, and semi-government clients by enhancing service delivery and providing clients with up-to-date and accurate reports on the status of their projects
  • Reduce the cost of IT operations and technical resources, a large portion of which was spent on administration and maintenance of non-integrated, on-premises systems
Results
  • Enhanced client service thanks to full transparency and seamless data flow throughout the organization—enabling SRACO to update oil and gas companies, banks, colleges, and government entities with reports regarding the status of their projects and related incidents
  • Increased operational efficiency, transparency, and profitability across all lines of business and subsidiaries, using Oracle ERP Cloud, Oracle HCM Cloud, and Oracle Database Cloud Service as a unified platform
  • Improved purchasing schedules, inventory planning, supplier management, construction project costing, and valuation accuracy with a connected cloud to manage financials, purchasing, and inventory
  • Used Oracle Project Portfolio Management Cloud to define service management contracts and tasks, track accrued costs and earnings, and highlight construction project progress and risks—improving service delivery and resource utilization throughout the country
  • Replaced numerous on-premises applications with Oracle ERP Cloud—eliminating costs for networking, infrastructure, disaster recovery, and backups, while also enabling new construction, maintenance, and consulting branch offices to be set up in days instead of months
  • Improved strategic decision making by providing managers with a global overview of operational efficiency in each department through intuitive dashboards and analytical reporting—for example, highlighting bottlenecks to enable improved cost controls and profitability
  • Ensured that all 25,000+ employees receive their salaries on the first day of the month by accelerating and automating payroll processes using Oracle Global Payroll Cloud Service (part of the integrated Oracle HCM Cloud suite)—previously, payroll was fragmented by departments and involved lengthy manual entries and delays
  • Replaced on-premises servers with Oracle Database Cloud Service, reducing infrastructure costs by more than 50% and eliminating associated employment costs for database administrators, systems administrators, and technical maintenance staff
  • Boosted employee productivity by increasing system uptime to 99.9%—a significant improvement over the previous setup where applications could be offline for up to 3 days at a time
  • Accelerated recruitment and onboarding and reduced staffing costs using Oracle Recruiting Cloud Service to manage the complete hiring cycle—including automatic posting of vacancies and searching for and ranking candidates according to job criteria—eliminating previous spreadsheet-based recruitment involving heavy reliance on external agencies
  • Enabled employee information to be seamlessly maintained throughout the employment lifecycle from hiring through retirement, streamlining information management and providing new business insights to improve human capital management

Compared to other vendors, only Oracle had the maturity of cloud offerings to meet the needs of our large and diverse organization. This greatly reduced our risk and enables us to focus on our core business, safe in the knowledge that our applications are managed by a world leader in the cloud domain.
