Oracle SQL Developer

New Features in Release 18.x

    Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud

SQL Developer 18.x offers built-in support for the Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud Service (ADWC) . A key feature ADWC is the new end-to-end migration of AWS Redshift systems to our new Oracle Cloud Service. This new capability is driven by a simple wizard that eases the entire process. This includes the data definitions, offloading data into AWS S3, creating the new data structures in ADWC, then finishing up with loading the data directly from AWS S3.

Another greatly enhanced feature is the import wizards which now add support for data loads into new or existing tables in the Autonomous Data Warehouse service from your Oracle Object Store (OSS). Easily sample and define your external data formats with our wizards for your data stored in Oracle Object Store, Oracle Object Store Classic, AWS S3, and Azure Blob Storage. The data import wizard also supports the creation of external tables on top of data stored in the object store to make the data available from within SQL for transparent processing without prior loading.

A number of other enhancements have been made in SQL Developer 18.x to make the user interface ADWC aware. This includes ease of wallet based connection management, object browsing of only supported objects, simplifying create/edit dialogs of various objects and more have been customized to the Service feature offerings.
