ACSLS (Automated Cartridge System Library Software) is a control server for Oracle StorageTek tape libraries. The ACSLS server accepts client requests for tape mounts and dismounts and related tape library operations. It provides APIs for client applications (such as backup software) using tcp/ip/rpc, and SCSI.  ACSLS offers an optional web-based graphical user interface (GUI) for many operational and administrative functions.  Additionally, all operational and administrative functions are accessible from a command-line interface for physical libraries or logical libraries.  Installation, configuration, and diagnostic functions are accessible by means of Unix shell commands.

When running on Microsoft Windows, the Java Access Bridge for Windows must be installed to support assistive technologies.

Steps required to configure accessibility modes in ACSLS.

GUI Tree Menu

The ACSLS GUI allows for an expanded or collapsed tree menu. By collapsing the tree menu, the complexity of the menu is hidden behind a few initial selections which become expanded as the menu portions are selected. But for some users who may rely on keyboard navigation or an audio summary of the menu, a collapsed tree menu may keep large portions of the GUI hidden from view. To enable an expanded tree menu, follow this procedure:

  1. Locate the 'Preferences' button. Asserting the 'Preferences' button will cause the Preferences page to be displayed.

  2. In the 'Per-user Preferences' portion of the Preferences frame, locate the 'Default Tree Menu' drop-down menu.

  3. Assert the drop-down arrow and select "expanded".

  4. Once the 'expanded' choice has been selected, choose the "set" button to assert the change.

This document describes the extent to which the product conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 'A' and 'AA' levels as described at http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/, and the applicable U.S. Section 508 standards. We are using a format similar to the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template, or VPAT®. There are three columns in the tables. The first column contains each of the WCAG 2.0 A and AA Success Criteria or Section 508 criteria; the second column indicates whether the product meets the criterion, and the third column contains remarks about the product with regard to the criterion, including known defects, if any.

2.1.1 Keyboard:All functionality of the content is operable through a keyboard interface without requiring specific timings for individual keystrokes, except where the underlying function requires input that depends on the path of the user's movement and not just the endpoints. (Level A)
Note 1:This exception relates to the underlying function, not the input technique. For example, if using handwriting to enter text, the input technique (handwriting) requires path-dependent input but the underlying function (text input) does not.

2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide:For moving, blinking, scrolling, or auto-updating information, all of the following are true: (Level A)
  • Moving, blinking, scrolling:For any moving, blinking or scrolling information that (1) starts automatically, (2) lasts more than five seconds, and (3) is presented in parallel with other content, there is a mechanism for the user to pause, stop, or hide it unless the movement, blinking, or scrolling is part of an activity where it is essential; and

CLI testing has verified that once the product is operational, no moving, blinking, or scrolling content appears in this product. 

   Exception: When the user enables the product from non-operational status, dynamic status information will be displayed to the screen for several seconds until the product is fully operational.  Testing has verified that the user may obtain the current status of the product at any moment in time with the keyboard command, 'acsss status'.

The GUI masthead provides auto-updating of alarm status information in the event of any component interruption that affects overall library operation.  The user may sample the GUI masthead periodically to obtain such dynamic status information.  Or the user may periodically execute the CLI keyboard command, 'acsss status'.
2.3.1 Three Flashes or Below Threshold:Web pages do not contain anything that flashes more than three times in any one second period, or the flash is below the general flash and red flash thresholds. (Level A)

Regarding CLI:

Oracle non-Web software products, including bundles and suites of software, do not behave as a set of software programs as the term is defined. Therefore this guideline is automatically met.

Regarding WEB UI:

  • Product testing verifies that most web pages are navigable via the main menu and from other relevant contexts with some exceptions. 
  • Exceptions: Pages intended for user-configuration of a table display, are navigable only from the table display page.
2.4.6 Headings and Labels:Headings and labels describe topic or purpose. (Level AA) Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

The product was tested for:

  • Headers describe the topic or purpose of the content below them

  • Visual indication of the active frame within the browser.
  • Visual indication of the current cursor location within the active frame.
3.1.1 Language of Page:The default human language of each Web page can be programmatically determined. (Level A) Does not Support

The ACSLS GUI/CLI supports only English text,  therefore it is expected that the user is also running their assistive technology in English, where applicable.
3.1.2 Language of Parts:The human language of each passage or phrase in the content can be programmatically determined except for proper names, technical terms, words of indeterminate language, and words or phrases that have become part of the vernacular of the immediately surrounding text. (Level AA) Does not Support

For WEB UI:

Long narrative text (involving three or more sentences) does not exist in this product.  Nearly all of the content contains technical terms, but that content can generally be resolvable by translation software.  Comprehensive translation testing has not been conducted to support this assertion.

For CLI:

This application only runs in English, therefore it is expected that the user is also running their assistive technology in English, where applicable.
3.2.1 On Focus:When any component receives focus, it does not initiate a change of context. (Level A) Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

The product was tested for:

  • When an element receives focus, it does not result in a substantial change to the user interface of the software, an additional change of keyboard focus, or the spawning of a new window
3.2.2 On Input:Changing the setting of any user interface component does not automatically cause a change of context unless the user has been advised of the behavior before using the component. (Level A) Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

The product was tested for:

  • Changes in the value of user interface components does not result in a substantial change to the user interface of the software, an additional change of keyboard focus, or the spawning of a new window
3.2.3 Consistent Navigation:Navigational mechanisms that are repeated on multiple Web pages within a set of Web pages occur in the same relative order each time they are repeated, unless a change is initiated by the user. The product was tested for:

  • Pages that are grouped together into sets with a common navigation mechanism utilize that navigation mechanism in the same fashion, with navigation elements appearing in the same relative order each time
3.2.4 Consistent Identification:Components that have the same functionality within a set of Web pages are identified consistently. (Level AA) Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

CLI testing reveals that user input errors are consistently detected and a meaningful message is printed to the screen to allow the user to understand and correct the error.

Testing reveals that user input in the ACSLS GUI  is highly constrained, allowing only user selection of already verified (menu-driven) parameters for any given operation. 
3.3.2 Labels or Instructions:Labels or instructions are provided when content requires user input. (Level A) Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

3.3.4 Error Prevention (Legal, Financial, Data):For Web pages that cause legal commitments or financial transactions for the user to occur, that modify or delete user-controllable data in data storage systems, or that submit user test responses, at least one of the following is true: (Level AA)
