Self-driving cars, drones that will deliver packages to our doorsteps, household robots that express emotion – these are examples of innovative technology, cloud development and machine intelligence demonstrating how science fiction is rapidly becoming science fact. In fact, more than three quarters of brands are said to deliver customer experience through VR and chatbots in the next four years.
A recent Oracle report “Can Virtual Experiences Replace Reality?” revealed how the use of emerging technologies is set to surge in the next 5 years. It found 80% of brands will be using chatbots for customer interactions by 2020 with 36% having already implemented them. With the rise of chatbots growing, how do you engage the customers and employees on their mobile devices in both a timely and personalised, manner?
As the on-demand economy scales, we expect fast and accurate service from their apps. If we don’t get it, we simply switch to another app. In this very large, low-entry, hyper-competitive, on-demand market, we fight for share-of-mind and time. Often, the only way organisations can remain relevant is to create timely and useful “mobile moments”. These are real-time, intent driven interactions that require only a glance – yet deliver information users can consume and take action on immediately.
Now imagine a world in which there is no requirement for users and consumers to download and install an application, whilst providing them the quickest and most accurate way to consume information. A chatbot. This is a computer program designed to assist human users’ access services with a conversational interface with zero installation. Most chatbots use a dialog-guided system to communicate with real users on a conversational channel.
Chatbots employ a conversational interface that is both lean and smart, and if designed properly, is even charming. They can help people find the things they want and need, in real-time, without the hassle of searching online or navigating a complex customer service organisation.
