Behind the Scenes: Meet Your Learning Cloud Service Manager (LCSM)
A failed stand-up comedian, ex-HeavyMetal/Punk Guitarist/Keyboardist, ex-Rocket Scientist and maker enthusiast, I enjoy helping customers automate their business processes. “Only put in work that optimizes, enhances or prevents future work!” NetSuite, just like any other large system has many opportunities to streamline, automate and connect processes. I’ve worked with many customers, across industries to educate them about how to use their systems better, better yet, how to make their systems work better for them. Over 20 years of experience in technical education has given me a great job: helping customers solve technical problems.
I work with LCS customers as a technical trainer where business process automation, data analysis and/or integration is needed. Working with customers to help them automate tasks is one of the greatest opportunities I have at LCS. Seeing them optimize processes and automate workload is extremely satisfying, and ultimately the main reason I’m still here.
Outside of work, I’m active with the local STEM education community to help keep kids curious and learning within the world before adulthood tries to beat the curiosity out of them. I’m an aquaponics gardener, combining Hydroponics and Aquaculture to efficiently grow fish and greens. I’m also a maker with projects in IoT, Ergonomics, Mobile/Wearable Computing, Home Automation and Security, Artificial Intelligence and green building.
Customer Success with LCS
An Interview with LCS Passholder Josh James
Note: Interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.
Q: How have [you] been using your LCS Pass?
A: This is the second company I have worked with NetSuite. The first time I used NetSuite, we went through implementation and learned on the fly just by setting it up. There was a lot that was intuitive about NetSuite…You guys have such an advanced tool that until I got into using LCS, there were a lot of features I did not even know [were] there.
Q: Of the courses you’ve taken…have you been able to dive into with the content you have been accessing?
A: I fully made it through fundamentals and that was such an interesting one because being in NS for 2 1/2 years, I thought I knew everything there was to need to know about NS. Every couple of minutes, they would show something that I had not been aware of before because I had not had formal training.
Q: Have any of the courses stood out to you?
A: Reports and Saved Searches. I would highly recommend this course because it is such an incredible tool. I found functionality that I did not know was there, it made me look back and think about projects that I could have done much differently and more easily. Right now, I am diving into the Advanced Reports and Saved Searches. It is a wealth of knowledge and there is a lot more to find out. The processes, reports and automation that you can do by just knowing reports and saved searches certainly revolutionized the way I was doing business with my company.
Q: How do you go about finding new courses to take?
A: Navigating courses was easy and straightforward. The first course I took was ERP Fundamentals, which was a suggested resource for getting my first certification. I specifically looked that one up, but going through some of the other ones, being able to browse and sort by feature or role helped make the pertinent stuff stand out.
Q: Have you been sharing the things you’ve learned in the courses with your community?
A: Yeah, absolutely. It’s one of those things where when you find something useful, and if someone had known about those features and had let me know, it would have made my life so much easier. So hopefully I can pass on as much of the knowledge as possible, but obviously having your own license, you’re going to get so much more value out of that.
Josh James’ experience only provides a snapshot of the stories and successes gained from the LCS Pass. This Q&A session provides his story of the LCS Pass benefits, courses, and highlights. You too can explore the Learning Portal and expand your understanding of NetSuite.
