Marie Anne Morgan Marie-Anne Morgan
Vice President Human Resources, Elizabeth Arden International

Graduated from the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland) in Psychology of work, Marie-Anne has always been interested by the interaction between people and business. She has built her career with the strong belief that you can’t support an organization from an HR stand-point unless you understand the economics of its business.

Marie-Anne has worked in small/family companies as well as in large international groups such as Unilever. During 6 years, she had her own consulting firm in HR interim management. She has participated in a number of due diligence processes in view of M&A and subsequent organization re-designs.

In all the positions she held, she considered that a key factor to success is to build a real strategic partnership between HR and the business it supports. This way, decisions around opportunities and challenges are made as a team and therefore take into consideration not only the pros and cons at strategic and operational levels, but also anticipate the organizational impact of those decisions.

Elizabeth Arden is a global prestige beauty products company with an extensive portfolio of prestige fragrance, skin care and cosmetics brands. In the last few years, Elizabeth Arden has grown organically, geographically and through acquisitions. This required the HR team to attract and recruit in territories new to them, to manage talents in a creative way and in some instances, to re-allocate resources behind new strategic priorities.

The International business of Elizabeth Arden is constituted by a sum of small nimble structures in each country. It is therefore imperative to attract and retain talents through pay-for-performance compensation and have strong assessment tools in place to manage the business and the individual performance in a fair manner. It also requires demonstrating creativity to offer development opportunities to the best performers.

The Company always had robust data systems to support business decision making. In 2012, it was decided to implement Oracle Fusion so organizational decisions could be taken using similar rigorous and data driven tools. Elizabeth Arden has successfully implemented Fusion across all its International sites.
