Oracle Container Cloud Service - Overview of the setup process
Set up your account
1. Obtain subscription
- Go to cloud.oracle.com/container.
Don't have an oracle.com account? Click here to sign up.
- Obtain a subscription for Oracle Container Cloud Service.
- Request a trial subscription by clicking Try It in the page header
- Purchase a subscription by clicking Buy Now on the Pricing page
When approved, you'll get a welcome email titled:
"Welcome to Oracle Cloud. Your Oracle Public Cloud Services are ready
for use."
Set up your service
2. Set up your security
- Click the My Services URL link under My Services Administration in the
"Welcome to Oracle Cloud" email.
- Sign in using the details provided in the email, then change your
password and set up security when prompted.
3. Add users and administrators
- Add users so they can begin to use the service.
- You're automatically an administrator for the service. You can add
more administrators as needed.
- Sign in to My Services.
- Click Users.
- On the Users tab, click Add.
- Enter the user details, assign the appropriate roles, and click Add.
4. Create your service instance
- On the Oracle Cloud My Services page, click the menu icon next to the
Oracle Container Cloud Service entry, and choose Open Service Console.
The first time you go to the Oracle Container Cloud Service Console,
you'll see the Console's Welcome page, which has links to several useful
learning resources.
- On the Oracle Container Cloud Service Welcome page, click Go to
Console.
- On the Oracle Container Cloud Service Console, click Create Service
and specify:
- a name (and optionally a description) for the new service instance
- the SSH Public Key to use, along with the username and password for
the service instance administrator
- the resources to allocate to the service instance
- a username and password for the Admin user
- Click Next, check the details are correct, and click Create to create
your first service instance.

5. Display the Container Console
- When the new service instance has been created and provisioned, you'll
see it on the Service Console.
- Click the menu icon next to the new service instance and choose
Container Console.
- Sign in to the Container Console as the Admin user, using the username
and password you just specified.
The Container Console is where you'll manage and deploy services and
stacks as Docker containers.

6. Deploy and run a Docker container
- On the Dashboard page, click Services.
- On the Services page, click the Deploy button beside the helloworld service.
- In the Deploy dialog, click Deploy to accept the default values and deploy and start the service.
The Deployments page appears showing the Docker image being pulled from the Docker Hub Registry, and then started as a Docker container.
Congratulations! You've just run your first Docker container from Oracle Container Cloud Service!
