Updates to the Clone Environment Feature
The Clone Environment feature is now available for all EPM Cloud business processes including Enterprise Data Management. This feature provides a screen-based method to clone environments. It is an alternative to writing EPM Automate scripts to clone an environment.
Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting
NOTE: This feature supports the cloning of both Classic and OCI (Gen2) EPM Cloud environments. For Classic EPM Cloud environments, security (users and their predefined and application role assignments, and group assignments) cannot be cloned using this feature.
Cloning of environments is useful in migration scenarios, including the following:
- Production to test cloning
- Test to production cloning
When you clone an environment, EPM Cloud automatically completes all the actions required to create an exact copy of the current application in the target environment. Because this process recreates the target environment, be sure to backup data and artifacts from the target environment before using this feature.
Business Benefit: Using the Clone Environment feature allows you to clone EPM Cloud environments without writing EPM Automate scripts.

Create Unbound Dimensions for Custom Data Sets
Unbound dimensions can be created in an application to manage data sets which are not natively handled by the adapter for a particular application type. These dimensions are created in application inspector and support user defined node types, hierarchy sets, node sets, viewpoints, and properties to model the enterprise data within the dimensions. Data can be loaded into unbound dimension viewpoints using request files and distributed to consuming systems using extracts.
Business Benefit: Complex data sets such as related value sets, account combinations, and multi-dimensional mappings may need to be maintained in Enterprise Data Management but are not supported by an application adapter. These data sets can be modeled and managed within unbound dimensions.

A Custom Validations Report provides a complete listing of validations for all node types and hierarchy sets to easily identify which custom validations have been defined. Custom validations can be filtered by application, dimension, node type, or hierarchy set. You can inspect a validation from the report to view more details or make changes to the validation.
Business Benefit: Users, with the Owner permission to the application or dimension, who are managing custom validations need a way to view validations which have been defined across all applications and dimensions. This allows them to determine which validations have been configured and if changes are necessary.

Derived Values and Property Transformations for List Data Type Properties
List data type properties can be configured with an expression to derive a value or transform a value for a property using custom business logic. Use the Derived default type for List properties to derive property values for specific applications and node types. Setup a property transformation for a List property in a node type converter to calculate a value when sharing, mapping, and synchronizing nodes across applications.
Business Benefit: List property values can be calculated using business logic rather than manually defining them resulting in reduced maintenance and improved data quality.

Disable Existing Subscriptions for Viewpoint
Subscriptions can be disabled to prevent new subscription requests from being generated without the need to delete the subscriptions from their viewpoints. Existing subscription requests will remain and can continue to be processed while a subscription is disabled. Disabled subscriptions can be enabled again when necessary or deleted if no longer required.
Business Benefit: Disabling a subscription allows a user with the Owner permission to the application or dimension to stop changes from being synchronized from a source to target viewpoint. This may be necessary when attempting to compare and manually align the viewpoints or isolate and resolve unexpected changes.

Enrich Request Items During Approval
Request items can be enriched by approvers during the Approve stage of a request. This allows users who are involved in a request after submission to make corrections or additional changes to the request items based on their Write data access. The Allow Enrichment During Approval option can be enabled for specific approval policies where enrichment is necessary. Enrichment may result in additional required approvals for a request based on the changes that are made and the approval policies which are active.
Business Benefit: Some approvers need the ability to make changes to request items while approving a request.

Global Connections to Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning Cloud and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud
Global connections can be defined to Oracle ERP Cloud and Oracle EPM Cloud in order to share data with those external applications using dimension extracts in Enterprise Data Management. Oracle ERP Cloud connections send data to a Universal Content Management document account for use by an File Based Data Import process. Oracle EPM Cloud connections send data to an Enterprise Performance Management inbox for use by a metadata import process. These connection types can be restricted for use by specific Enterprise Data Management applications.
Business Benefit: Global connections to Oracle ERP Cloud can be used to transfer data such as account combinations, mapping sets, and related value sets for import into Financials Cloud. Global connections to Oracle EPM Cloud can be used by Universal applications which manage dimensions for the Account Reconciliation business process.

Inspect Request Items and Delete Individual Request Actions
Request items can be inspected directly from the request details pane in an open view. This displays all of the actions for the request item along with the user who made each change. Individual request actions can be deleted from an item in the request inspector based on a user's data access, and validation issues are now displayed for each action in the request inspector.
Business Benefit: Request users sometimes need to identify the individual actions for a specific request item. In cases where multiple users have made changes to the same request item, it is helpful to know which user made a particular change. In some situations, changes which were made in a request need to be removed. The ability to delete a request item or item instance was previously available, but those operations remove all actions for a particular node or node instance. Sometimes a user only wants to remove individual changes.

Match Nodes Across Viewpoints Using Alternate Name
Alternate names can be defined for nodes in viewpoints in cases where similar nodes have completely different primary names across multiple applications. Nodes can matched using their alternate name during a locate or compare operation. The Core.Alternate Name property can be added to node types where nodes will use alternate names. Alternate name values can be imported, loaded from a request file, copied or transformed from another viewpoint, or manually entered. Locate and compare operations across viewpoints will attempt to use alternate names where they are defined when a node cannot be matched using its primary name.
Business Benefit: Alternate names allow you to find a similar node in a viewpoint where its primary name is different. It also enables nodes with different primary names to be treated as similar nodes when identifying differences during a comparison.

Original Request and Subscription Links in Request Inspector
The inspector for a subscription request includes links to the original request and the subscription(s) which generated the request items for the subscription request. You can navigate to the original request to get more details about the source changes including user comments and attachments. You can also inspect the subscriptions for the request to better understand how the changes originated.
Business Benefit: When reviewing a subscription request, users may need more information about how the changes in the request originated. This includes being able to view the details of the original request as well as the subscriptions which generated the subscription request.

Participant Permission and Granular Data Access by Action and Property
The Browser and Submitter permissions for users and groups have been combined into a single permission named Participant, which can be assigned at the application, dimension, node type, or hierarchy set level. Participants can view data as well as submit and enrich requests based on their data access.
The Participant permission can be configured with Read or Write data access. Data access can be filtered to specific request actions and properties at the node type or hierarchy set level. Each property can be configured as displayed, editable, or hidden.
Business Benefit: Application and dimension owners need to assign users with limited access to read and write data. This includes the ability to restrict users from performing certain types of changes or viewing specific properties.

Recall Requests Awaiting Approval
In Flight requests in the Approve stage can be recalled by the submitting user to make changes to request items or withdraw the request entirely. When a recall is performed, approvals are cleared and the request is returned to the Submit stage. The original submitter is reassigned the request where they can modify the request and resubmit it, or delete the request if it is no longer needed.
Business Benefit: Users who have submitted requests sometimes need to make changes to a request which have not yet been approved. Instead of asking an approver to push back the request, the submitter would like the ability to recall the request without having to involve the approver.

Reconnect Parents, Header/Footer, and Zip File Options in Dimension Extracts
Additional options are available for dimension extracts to further customize the results of an extract process. The Reconnect Parents option outputs the closest ancestor that is not excluded by the node filter expression in the Parent column for each extracted node. The Custom Header and Footer options allow for user-defined text to be output at the beginning or end of the extract file. The Zip File option enables the extract file to be compressed and output in a zip file format.
Business Benefit: These additional extract options can be used to produce a variety of different file formats required by external systems which consume enterprise data from Enterprise Data Management.

Suffix for Node Type Qualifiers
Suffixes can be used for node type qualifiers to make node names unique within an application or dimension for referential integrity purposes. Default and alternate qualifiers support both prefixes and suffixes. This allows node names which use suffixes for uniqueness purposes in one application to be matched with similar nodes in another applications where the suffix is not used.
Business Benefit: Similar nodes existing in different node types where they have different naming conventions need to be properly located, compared, and synchronized across viewpoints.

The Enterprise Data Management Home page includes a Tools cluster which contains the Access Control, Migration, Daily Maintenance, and Appearance cards that were previously available as well as the new Clone Snapshot card. The Tools cluster is displayed and accessible to Service Administrators only.
Business Benefit: The Tools cluster groups related modules together and reduces the number of cards displayed on the Home page and in the filmstrip to reduce scrolling.
Request Object in Expressions for Validations, Policies, and Subscriptions
Information about the current request can be accessed in an expression for a custom validation, policy filter, or subscription filter. This allows for different behavior based on the characteristics of a particular request. The following request attributes are available:
- Title
- Description
- Owner
- Status
- Stage
- Type
- IsNull
Business Benefit: In some cases, validations, policies, or subscriptions need to behave differently for some requests versus other requests. Examples include custom validations based on the type of request or approval policies based on who submitted the request.
