Feature Summary

Column Definitions:

Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.

UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.

UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.

Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.

Ready for Use by End Users
(Feature Delivered Enabled)

Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features.

Customer Must Take Action before Use by End Users
(Feature Delivered Disabled)

Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing.

Monthly Update Schedule

Test Environments: Oracle will apply this monthly update during the first daily maintenance that occurs at or after 22:00 UTC on Friday, August 5, 2022.

Production Environments: Oracle will apply this monthly update during the first daily maintenance that occurs at or after 22:00 UTC on Friday, August 19, 2022.

NOTE: The monthly update will not be applied to any environment for which this monthly update is requested to be skipped using the EPM Automate skipUpdate command or service request to Oracle.

NOTE: Backing up the daily maintenance snapshot and restoring the environment as needed are self-service operations. Oracle strongly recommends that you download the maintenance snapshot every day to a local server.

The Oracle Help Center provides access to updated documentation. The updates will be available in the Help Center on Friday, August 5, 2022.

NOTE: Some of the links to new feature documentation included in this readiness document will not work until after the Oracle Help Center update is complete.

Documentation Updates Available One Week After Readiness Documents

Updated documentation is published on the Oracle Help Center on the first Friday of each month, coinciding with the monthly updates to Test environments. Because there is a one week lag between the publishing of the readiness documents (What's New and New Feature Summary) and Oracle Help Center updates, some links included in the readiness documents will not work until the Oracle Help Center update is complete.

Fixed Issues and Considerations

Software issues addressed each month and considerations will be posted to My Oracle Support.

NOTE: Fixed issues for EPM Cloud Common components (Smart View for Office, EPM Automate, REST API, Migration, Access Control, Data Management/Data Integration, Reports, Financial Reporting, and Calculation Manager) are available in a separate document on the My Oracle Support “Release Highlights” page.

This provides visibility into EPM Cloud release contents.

Updates to the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Operations Guide

The Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Operations Guide now contains an application design checklist for Account Reconciliation Implementation Success Program enrollment request. Additionally, this guide has been updated with information on a new request for blocking access from specific countries to OCI (Gen 2) environments.

Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: The application design checklist streamlines the information you need to provide for application design document review as a part of Implementation Success Program for Account Reconciliation.

The new request provides the ability to block connections originating from unwanted countries to OCI (Gen 2) environments.

EPM Automate Updates

A new version of EPM Automate is now available. This version introduces the calculateModel, clearDataByPointOfView, copyDataByPointOfView, deletePointOfView, executeReportBurstingDefinition, getIPAllowlist, setIPAllowlist, and validateModel commands. Additionally, this update contains changes to the addUsers, recreate, replay, and updateUsers commands.

Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

calculateModel Command

This command runs the calculation process in Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management applications.

clearDataByPointOfView Command

This command clears data within a specific Point of View (POV) for an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management cube.

copyDataByPointOfView Command

This command copies data from a source POV in a cube to a destination POV in the same or another cube in an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management application.

deletePointOfView Command

This command deletes artifacts and Essbase cube data from a POV in an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management application.

executeReportBurstingDefinition Command

This command executes bursting for a single report or book for more than one member of a single dimension, and publishes a PDF or static (not refreshable in Oracle Smart View for Office) Excel output for each member.

getIPAllowlist Command

This command displays the IP addresses and Classless Inter-Domain Routings (CIDRs) included in the current allowlist in an OCI (Gen 2) environment.

setIPAllowlist Command

This command configures an allowlist of IP addresses and CIDRs that are permitted to access an OCI (Gen 2)  environment. This command can be used to add or remove IP addresses and CIDRs.

validateModel Command

This command validates an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management model and writes validation output to a file.

Changes to the addUsers and updateUsers Commands

Additional validations have been added to the addUsers and updateUsers command. Each column in the user definition CSV file used with these commands must have valid information such as first name, last name, user login, and email ID for each user. These commands validate each definition for mandatory values and display error messages that identify each missing or invalid value.

Changes to the recreate Command

The behavior of this command has been modified to retain the current version of Essbase if a value for the EssbaseChange optional parameter is not specified. Previously, the command used to change the Essbase version to hybrid Essbase if the environment was created after April 20, 2020 and EssbaseChange=Downgrade was not specified.

Changes to the replay Command

The lagTime optional parameter, which specifies the number of seconds that the command should wait between the execution of each HAR file included in the replay file, has been updated to use a default value of 5 seconds. The command now displays an error if you specify a value less than 5 seconds.

Business Benefit: The calculateModel command helps you automate the calculation process in Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management applications.

The clearDataByPointOfView, copyDataByPointOfView, and deletePointOfView commands help you manage data in Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management cubes.

The executeReportBurstingDefinition command helps you automate the process of bursting a report or book.

The getIPAllowlist and setIPAllowlists commands provide a self-service method to configure and manage allowlists for OCI (Gen 2) environments without requiring a service request to Oracle.

This ValidateModel command helps you automate the process of validating Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management models.

Changes to the addUsers and updateUsers commands provide user-friendly error messages to help you fix the input file provided in the command.

Changes to the recreate command ensures that the current Essbase version is not changed unless you request a change using the essbaseChange optional parameter.

Update to the replay command enforces a minimum lag time between replay execution to mimic real-life scenarios that exert processing load on an environment.

New Version of Migration REST APIs

A new, simplified v2 version of several Migration REST APIs has been released. This new version contains all parameters in the payload and does not require URL encoding while calling the REST APIs. The new version is backward compatible, so no changes are needed for existing REST APIs.

The new v2 version applies to these REST APIs:

  • Copy to Object Store (v2)
  • Copy From Object Store (v2)
  • Send Email (v2)
  • Delete File (v2)
  • Run Recreate on a Service (v2)
  • Restart the Service (v2)

Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: The new version of the REST APIs is easier to use, and does not require URL encoding.

Update to the EPM REST API for Run Recreate on a Service

The EPM REST recreate API has been changed to not update the Essbase version if the EssbaseChange parameter is not specified. Previously, the API used to change the Essbase version to hybrid Essbase if the environment was created after April 20, 2020 and EssbaseChange=Downgrade was not specified.

Applies to:  Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: This ensures that the Essbase version is not updated if you run recreate on your environment unless you request a change using the EssbaseChange optional parameter.

Ability to Keep the Daily Maintenance Start Time of Target Environment in Clone Environment

A new check box Daily Maintenance Start Time is now available in the Clone Environment feature. By default, the maintenance start time of the target environment is reset to that of the source environment. Deselect this check box to keep the current maintenance start time of the target environment.

Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

Clone Environment

Business Benefit: While cloning an environment, you now have the option to not change the daily maintenance start time of the target environment. This is especially useful if you have different daily maintenance start times for test and prod environments, or for primary and disaster recovery environments.

Key Resources

Modified Sorting in Access Control

In Access Control, the searched information is now displayed in a default sort order. Additionally, the User Group and Role Assignment reports list the direct groups and predefined roles in bold font.

Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

Default Sort Order

The screens in the following table have a default sort order for the listed information.

Screen Sorted By
Manage Groups Group Name
Manage Users User Login
Assign Application Roles
  • for Users - by User Login
  • for Groups - by Group Name
Role Assignment Report
  • for Users - by User Login
  • for Roles - by User Login, and by application roles
User Login Report Access Date and Time
User Group Report User Login

Differentiate Values in Reports

The following reports differentiate these values by bold font.

  • User Group- Groups
    • Direct groups
    • Indirect groups
  • Role Assignment report - Roles
    • Predefined roles
    • Application roles

Business Benefit: The default sort order makes it easier to scroll down the information that matches your search criterion. Additionally, you can now easily identify the predefined roles and the application roles in Role Assignment report. You can also easily identify in the User Group report, the direct and indirect groups that user belongs to.
