Key Resources
A new version of EPM Automate is now available. This version introduces the calculateModel, clearDataByPointOfView, copyDataByPointOfView, deletePointOfView, executeReportBurstingDefinition, getIPAllowlist, setIPAllowlist, and validateModel commands. Additionally, this update contains changes to the addUsers, recreate, replay, and updateUsers commands.
Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting
calculateModel Command
This command runs the calculation process in Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management applications.
clearDataByPointOfView Command
This command clears data within a specific Point of View (POV) for an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management cube.
copyDataByPointOfView Command
This command copies data from a source POV in a cube to a destination POV in the same or another cube in an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management application.
deletePointOfView Command
This command deletes artifacts and Essbase cube data from a POV in an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management application.
executeReportBurstingDefinition Command
This command executes bursting for a single report or book for more than one member of a single dimension, and publishes a PDF or static (not refreshable in Oracle Smart View for Office) Excel output for each member.
getIPAllowlist Command
This command displays the IP addresses and Classless Inter-Domain Routings (CIDRs) included in the current allowlist in an OCI (Gen 2) environment.
setIPAllowlist Command
This command configures an allowlist of IP addresses and CIDRs that are permitted to access an OCI (Gen 2) environment. This command can be used to add or remove IP addresses and CIDRs.
validateModel Command
This command validates an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management model and writes validation output to a file.
Changes to the addUsers and updateUsers Commands
Additional validations have been added to the addUsers and updateUsers command. Each column in the user definition CSV file used with these commands must have valid information such as first name, last name, user login, and email ID for each user. These commands validate each definition for mandatory values and display error messages that identify each missing or invalid value.
Changes to the recreate Command
The behavior of this command has been modified to retain the current version of Essbase if a value for the EssbaseChange optional parameter is not specified. Previously, the command used to change the Essbase version to hybrid Essbase if the environment was created after April 20, 2020 and EssbaseChange=Downgrade was not specified.
Changes to the replay Command
The lagTime optional parameter, which specifies the number of seconds that the command should wait between the execution of each HAR file included in the replay file, has been updated to use a default value of 5 seconds. The command now displays an error if you specify a value less than 5 seconds.
Business Benefit: The calculateModel command helps you automate the calculation process in Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management applications.
The clearDataByPointOfView, copyDataByPointOfView, and deletePointOfView commands help you manage data in Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management cubes.
The executeReportBurstingDefinition command helps you automate the process of bursting a report or book.
The getIPAllowlist and setIPAllowlists commands provide a self-service method to configure and manage allowlists for OCI (Gen 2) environments without requiring a service request to Oracle.
This ValidateModel command helps you automate the process of validating Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management models.
Changes to the addUsers and updateUsers commands provide user-friendly error messages to help you fix the input file provided in the command.
Changes to the recreate command ensures that the current Essbase version is not changed unless you request a change using the essbaseChange optional parameter.
Update to the replay command enforces a minimum lag time between replay execution to mimic real-life scenarios that exert processing load on an environment.

Smart View SVEXT Extensions Now Downloadable from Firefox
Using Mozilla Firefox, you can now download Oracle Smart View for Office extensions (SVEXT files) from the Downloads page of your business process.
Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting
For example, you can now use Firefox to download the Planning Admin Extension (also referred to as the Admin Extension) or Task Manager extension directly from the Downloads page.
Once downloaded, double-click the SVEXT file to install it. Then, start (or restart) your Microsoft office application (Excel, Word, or PowerPoint). View the newly installed in the Smart View Options dialog, Extensions tab.
Most Smart View extensions have the SVEXT file extension. Previously, when attempting to download an SVEXT extension from a business process Downloads page, Firefox did not allow opening or saving the extension. Instead, it opened a new tab showing binary data. You were required to use an alternative supported browser to download SVEXT extensions. Starting in 22.08, there is no longer any issue with downloading Smart View SVEXT extensions from Firefox.
Business Benefit: Smart View extensions (SVEXT files) are now downloadable from all supported browsers.
Tips And Considerations
- The Strategic Modeling extension for Smart View was not affected by this Firefox issue because that extension is an MSI file.
- Smart View SVEXT extensions can also be downloaded using the extension download and update process in Smart View, using the Extensions tab in the Smart View Options dialog.

Display Member Names and Aliases in Separate Columns in Smart View Ad Hoc Grids
A new Member display option in Oracle Smart View for Office, Member Name and Alias, allows you to display both the member names and their aliases in separate columns on row dimensions in ad hoc grids.
Applies to: Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting
The Member Name and Alias display option allows users to see the member name and the alias side by side during ad hoc zoom interactions within the grid. This provides additional member level alias information that is useful during ad hoc operations.
Additionally, side by side display of member names and aliases is a common feature in Essbase ad hoc, which helps in migrating worksheets maintained in Essbase into the FreeForm business process in EPM Cloud.
You may display both member names and their aliases when connected to a Standard-mode application. In Standard-mode, the application setting, Smart View Ad Hoc Behavior, is set to Standard.
Aliases are alternate names for database members. You can create ad hoc grids that use the database member name, which is often a stock number or product code, and also display the member's alias name, which can be more descriptive than the member name, in your ad hoc worksheet.
For example, in the Vision database, the alias name for the Product member P_110 is Sentinal Standard Notebook. By selecting the Member Name and Alias option in Smart View, you can display both the P_110 member name and the Sentinal Standard Note alias, on the same row in two columns in your ad hoc grid. At a quick glance, you can view the product code along with the product name, side by side in two columns along the row dimensions.
To display both member names and their aliases in an ad hoc grid:
- In Smart View, place an ad hoc grid on a worksheet. You may have more than one row dimension in the grid.
- In the Smart View ribbon, select Options.
- In the Member Options tab, Member Name Display, select Member Name and Alias, then click OK.
- In either the Smart View ribbon or the provider Ad Hoc ribbon, click Refresh.
For row members, both member names and their corresponding aliases are displayed in the ad hoc grid.
Business Benefit: In Standard-mode applications, the Member Name and Alias display option allows users to see the member name and the alias side by side, providing additional member level alias information that is useful during ad hoc operations; this option also facilitates migrating worksheets maintained in Essbase into the FreeForm business process in EPM Cloud.
Steps to Enable
To enable the Member Name and Alias option for Smart View users working with ad hoc grids, the business process application option, Smart View Ad Hoc Behavior, must be set to Standard.
All new and recreated applications are automatically set to Standard.

A new Direct Drill feature enables you to drill through directly from an EPM form to source data when you use the Quick Mode method to load data. Source data can now be queried and launched using an external URL or EPM Integration Agent URL. Additionally, for standard mode data loads, you can define a custom drill region and you can continue to use the standard landing page. The custom drill region enables you to define custom drill regions using Essbase member functions instead of individual members.
Applies to: Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting
To use this feature, you select the Drill Details option on the Application page for a local application, manually define the drill detail definition and then associate the source drill URL with the application.
Business Benefit: The new Direct Drill features enables you to drill to source data with or without staging the data in Data Management. It provides the flexibility to simplify the drill bypassing the landing page. This feature allows you to customize the scope of the drill region using Essbase member functions, which simplifies maintenance and improves performance. Previously a drill through query included individual member names, which sometimes made the drill region big and might have led to a load failure, or performance issues.

Substitution Variables for Financial Consolidation and Close in Administering Financial Consolidation and Close
Performance Substitution Variables
The OptimizeConcurrency, OptimizePelimCalculation, EnableYearlyConsol, ParallelCustomDimDSO, and ParallelCustomDimTranslation substitution variables can be enabled to improve performance.
OptimizeConcurrency = True
This substitution variable improves concurrency of the consolidation process by executing some of the calculations at the very beginning or at the end. The degree of improvement depends on the entity structure of a given customer. Customers with deeper entity hierarchies will benefit the most.
OptimizePelimCalculation= True
This substitution variable improves Partner Eliminations (PElim) performance. If there is a consolidation performance degradation when deploying a user-created “Partner Eliminations Configurable Consolidation Rule” that has an account re-direction, adding this variable can provide significant performance improvement.
EnableYearlyConsol = True
The EnableYearlyConsol substitution variable can be enabled to improve performance for multi-period consolidations in applications that use the Dense/Sparse Optimization option (where Period and Movement are the Dense dimensions).
This substitution variable is applicable if the application meets all of these conditions:
- The application uses the Dense/Sparse Optimization option (Period and Movement are Dense dimensions)
- You have two or more dirty periods, and two or more hierarchy levels
- The dirty entities are identical across periods
- Equity Pickup sequence is not enabled
ParallelCustomDimDSO = True
This substitution variable improves the performance of the consolidation process in applications with Dense/Sparse Optimization, where the Period and Movement dimensions are Dense dimensions. To see performance improvements, you should set this substitution variable to True.
ParallelCustomDimTranslation = True
This substitution variable can improve the performance of the consolidation process in applications with Dense/Sparse Optimization, where the Period and Movement dimensions are Dense dimensions. To see performance improvements, you should set this substitution variable to True. If any degradation is noticed, you should delete this variable.
Business Benefit: These substitution variables help in improving consolidation performance.
NOTE: The degree of performance improvement varies widely across different applications as it is purely driven by the application design and data distribution.

Tips And Considerations
The Oracle Healthcare Planning solution is an implementation accelerator and not a supported planning module. Both "Modules" and "Solutions" provide best practices. However, "Modules" are fully supported capabilities in Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud, whereas "Solutions" are intended to be implementation starter kit accelerators.
Fiscal Year Start Date Option for 13-Period Applications in Planning Modules
When you create a 13-period application for Planning modules, you now have the option to select a Fiscal Year Start Date for the application. The selection of this parameter is critical for the correct creation of the Years dimension and the underlying calculations for periods.
Select from the following options:
- Same Calendar Year to set the fiscal year (FY) to start with the current calendar year (CY).
- Previous Calendar Year to set the fiscal year (FY) to start with the previous calendar year (CY).
Business Benefit: This enhancement helps with multiple use cases for customers who want to set up their 13 period calendar to begin with either the previous calendar year or the same calendar year.
Tips And Considerations
- Existing 13-period applications use Previous Calendar Year.
- There is no impact to existing applications.
- An application snapshot of a 13 Period application with Fiscal Year Start Date set as Same Calendar Year exported from Release 22.08 can't be imported to Release 22.07 or earlier.
- An application snapshot of a 13 Period application exported from Release 22.06 or earlier can't be imported to Release 22.08 or later.

New Financials Rule for Batch Trend-Based Calculations
A new rule, Batch Trend Based Calculation, is available in Financials. The new rule lets you calculate trend and percent increase or decrease for multiple accounts across multiple entities for a given year.
Business Benefit: The existing rule, Trend Based Calculation, runs only at the level of the selected member (zero level member on form only). This new rule, Batch Trend Based Calculation, lets you perform a batch calculation for many members at one time, saving you time.
Tips And Considerations
- Run the Batch Trend Based Calculation rule for only one year at a time for any trend type. Don’t run it for multiple years at a time.
- The Batch Trend Based Calculation rule calculates based on the Planning/Forecast range for the year. If a particular year’s planning basis is weekly and certain entities are excluded from weekly planning, when the rule is executed, the trend and the optional % increase or decrease is not calculated for these entities.

Profitability and Cost Management
There are no new features in this update except for the applicable features listed in the EPM Common section.
Tax Reporting is now enhanced with a trace capability to view the details of how automated data is calculated based on the tax automation rules that you have defined. Tax Automation Trace provides detailed information about the source data, tax automation logic applied, percentage, and the source POV where data exists. You can now view all these trace details along with Current Provision data in the new Current Provision Trace form.
You can navigate to the Current Provision Trace form from the Current Provision form using the Automation Trace Actions menu.
Business Benefit: This new capability provides transparency on the calculation of taxable income in the current provision form.

Country-by-Country (CBCR) Periodic Foreign Exchange Translation
Tax Reporting now supports periodic FX translation for CbCR. CbCR Consolidation and Translation will now use the default FX translation method for flow accounts as defined in the Tax Settings (Application - >Configuration -> Tax Settings->Currency Translation Method for Flow Accounts) screen. The default translation method can be overridden for any account (Flow or Balance account type) by assigning the appropriate Override FX Translation Method attribute to that account. For example, assign the PeriodicFXTranslationMethod to a flow account that you'd like to always be translated using the periodic method. Similarly, Balance accounts are translated using the YTD method by default and you can assign the PeriodicFxTranslationMethod to be translated using the Periodic Method.
Business Benefit: This capability makes it simpler for CbCR translation to agree with the financial statements and makes the currency translation consistent between the Tax Provision and CbCR.

One-Week Lag Between Readiness Documents Live and Help Center Live
Because Oracle readiness documents (What's New and New Feature Summary) are live one week before the monthly update is applied to Test environments, some links to documentation included in the readiness documents will not work until after the Oracle Help Center update is complete when the monthly update is applied to Test environments.

Valid Intersection and Cell-level Security Import & Export File Format Update
In an upcoming release, both Valid Intersection and Cell-level Security Import and Export files in .XLSX format will include new columns for each dimension in the Sub Rules worksheet. These new columns to support excluding all instances of members by name will apply to each dimension and will be positioned after each dimension’s “Exclusion” column. If you use these exported files for integration with other systems and the order of columns is fixed, you may need to modify your process to account for these new columns in these export files. The release of these new columns will coincide with the planned release of this enhancement for Valid Intersections and Cell-Level Security.

Change in Behavior for Grids Created from Groovy and REST APIs for ASO Cubes
In an upcoming release, the suppression behavior for grids created via Groovy DataGridDefinitionBuilder and the exportdataslice REST API for ASO cubes will be made consistent with that of the run time data grids created using the Form Designer. Previously, if a grid was built for an ASO cube in Groovy or REST API, then the system used the NON EMPTY MDX clause to suppress missing rows when the suppressMissingBlocks flag was true. Now, when a grid is built for an ASO cube, it will use the NON EMPTY MDX clause when suppressMissingRows is true, and suppressMissingBlocks will be ignored. This means that ASO grids with suppressMissingRows true and suppressMissingBlocks false will now start using MDX. Likewise, ASO grids with suppressMissingRows false and suppressMissingBlocks true will no longer use MDX. Grids where the suppressMissingRows and suppressMissingBlocks flags had the same value will not be impacted. These changes may result in a change in behavior or performance for some ASO grids. If this happens and is undesirable, consider toggling the value of suppressMissingRows from the builder or the JSON payload in case of the REST API.

Mandatory Steps Required to Make the Explore Repository Artifacts Accessible to Users
Prior to the 22.07 update, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud used the WORLD pre-seeded group to grant access to Explore Repository artifacts such as reports and folders. Starting with the 22.07 update, the WORLD group was removed. If you previously used the WORLD group to grant access to repository artifacts, complete these steps to ensure that users can access Repository artifacts:
- Create a group in Access Control with all EPM Cloud users as its members.
- In Explore Repository, grant access privileges to the group you created in the preceding step.
For detailed steps, see Granting Access Permissions to Document Repository Users in Working with Financial Reporting for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud.

Alerts Cannot be Migrated to Prior Version
Due to a major upgrade in Alert functionality, any service that has defined Alert Types will not be able to migrate them or the Alerts that are based on them from the April (22.04) update to an earlier update. This normally happens if artifacts are moved from Test to Production during the two week period when Test is upgraded to the April (22.04) update while Production is still on the March (22.03) update. All other objects in the migration are not affected.
Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting
Task Manager Email Notification Settings
Starting in the April (22.04) update, the service changed the handling of Task Manager’s Email Notification settings during a migration. The target service’s Task Manager Email Notification settings were updated with the settings from the source service. If a customer wants to retain the target service’s Task Manager Notification settings, they can generate an LCM export with the notification settings from the target service, perform the source migration, then import the LCM file with the notification settings.

Internet Explorer 11 End of Support and Smart View
Microsoft has announced end of support of Internet Explorer 11 by June 15, 2022.
Do not uninstall Microsoft Internet Explorer, even after the end-of support date of June 15, 2022. Instead, you may securely disable Internet Explorer following Microsoft’s guidelines. In situations where the Internet Explorer browser would be called, the Edge browser will be launched instead.
Oracle Smart View for Office does not require the Internet Explorer browser specifically. However, Smart View depends on Windows components (for example, WinInet APIs) that may have dependencies on Internet Explorer. Microsoft recommends keeping Internet Explorer installed on the machine since uninstalling may cause other applications that are dependent on it to work incorrectly. Microsoft also recommends updating to the latest security patches as they become available.
For more information, Oracle Support Document 2877741.1 (Impact on Smart view with Microsoft decommissioning Internet Explorer 11 on June 15, 2022) can be found at: https://mosemp.us.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?id=2877741.1.

Change in Reports Behavior with Suppress Missing Blocks Enabled with Zoom on the Column
Starting in this update, Suppress Missing Blocks are no longer supported with Zoom enabled on column segments. This combination of properties results in unpredictable members returned when doing the query for a Zoom on the column axis.
Applies to: Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting
Data Maps with Mapping or Cross Applications
Data Maps with mapping or cross applications are not supported in this update. If the Data Map has mapping or is a cross-application, it needs to be attached to a form or included in the Groovy rule and run as a Smart Push.
Applies to: Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Planning, Planning Modules
Purging of Audit Information
Starting in the October (22.10) update, audit records older than 365 days will be automatically purged at service start-up such as after the daily maintenance window, service reset, or outage (planned or unplanned). Purged audit records will not be stored or accessible. To prepare for this change, you may want to take a backup of the historical audit data. To do this, select one of the following options:
- Export: Select the Export option on the Actions menu from the Audit card by selecting the appropriate filters.
- EPM Automate command: Use the exportAppAudit command. See exportAppAudit in Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud.
Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Tax Reporting
ENTERPRISE DATA MANAGEMENT
Top Node Filters for Subscriptions Not Applicable to Delete Actions
Starting in the May (22.05) update, top node filters for subscriptions are no longer applied to Delete request actions in the source viewpoint. If a node matching a deleted source node is found in a target viewpoint, the node will be deleted from the target viewpoint regardless of where the node is located as part of a subscription request to ensure synchronization of existing nodes in both viewpoints.
FINANCIAL CONSOLIDATION AND CLOSE
Posting Data Against Global Assumptions
It is recommended that you do not post data against the Global Assumptions member in the Entity dimension. This member is used to store information such as currency rates. Starting with the July (22.07) update, if you post data against Global Assumptions, an error will occur.
Phased Approvals
If you decide to enable Phased Approvals in your application, take note of the following considerations:
-
You will need to manually modify your Data Status forms to replace the dimension member "FCCS_Status_ApprovalStatus" with the new member "FCCS_Status_ConsolidatedApprovalStatus".
-
If you try to export the application from the March (22.03) update and import it to the February (22.02) update, you must update your Data Status form by changing the dimension member FCCS_Status_ConsolidatedApprovalStatus back to FCCS_Status_ApprovalStatus.
-
Additionally, you will encounter errors during the import because new artifacts related to Phased Approvals are not supported in February (22.02).
Resetting Customized Changes After an Update
If you have made changes to the seeded Account hierarchy, those changes will be reset. If you have moved seeded members, the move action is retained, but any re-ordering you have done will be reset, and a restructuring will happen when the ordering is reset. The restructuring could take time, so plan accordingly. You may have to manually re-order seeded members again after the update.
PLANNING MODULES
Removal of Strategic Workforce Planning from EPM Cloud Workforce Planning
In a future update, the Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) enablement option will be removed for all EPM Cloud Planning Modules (Standard and Enterprise) and Enterprise Planning applications that have not already enabled this feature in the Workforce Module. Customers who have already enabled this feature will see no change in their existing applications with this feature already enabled. No new applications will support this feature after this change.
Strategic Workforce Planning functionality is provided in the Strategic Workforce Planning Cloud Service (SWPCS) product, which contains robust SWP functionality that is not available in the existing EPM Cloud Planning Workforce module feature. SWPCS is an Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) product built on EPM technology. For more information about SWPCS, please refer to the Strategic Workforce Planning information on www.oracle.com.
If you have any concerns about this change, please contact Oracle Support.
TAX REPORTING
Support for Amount and Rate Override for Tax Accounts
Starting in this update, three existing override FX rate/amount forms will be deprecated. The forms will no longer allow data entry. The deprecated forms are:
- NIBT FX Rates Override: FX Rates - NIBT Override
- NIBT FX Rates Override - WAR: FX Rates - NIBT Override – WAR
- Weighted Average Rates Override: FX Rates - Expense Override – WAR
In addition, the data intersections underlying the deprecated forms will no longer accept data including through data import, Smart View, or Data Management.
If you are using any of the above forms or the underlying data intersections to view or modify override FX rates/amount you will need to transition to the new override FX rate/amount forms and underlying data intersections.
The replacement forms are available under the Tax Administration\FX Rates folder and will allow entry and review of the respective FX rate or amount override values.
- FX Rates - NIBT Override: NIBT Foreign Exchange Override Rates (This form replaces NIBT FX Rates Override: FX Rates - NIBT Override)
- FX Rates - NIBT Override – WAR: NIBT Foreign Exchange Override Rates - Calculated Weighted Average (This form replaces NIBT FX Rates Override - WAR: FX Rates - NIBT Override – WAR)
- FX Rates - Expense Override – WAR: Foreign Exchange Rates Calculated Weighted Average (This form replaces Weighted Average Rates Override: FX Rates - Expense Override – WAR)
NOTE: The transition from the old override FX rate capability to the new override FX rate capability requires a migration. All applications created prior to 21.07 must manually run the migration no later than the upgrade to 22.08 on your test and production instances. As part of the migration, all the FX override rates (that is, NIBT override, WAR, and others) that are contained within the Tax Reporting application will be migrated to new intersections. You can tell if a migration is necessary by following the steps in Migrating Override FX Rate and Amount Data and verifying that the Migrate NIBT FX override rate, NIBT WAR and Expense WAR Data checkbox is unchecked. The migration is safe to run multiple times.
IMPORTANT: If you fail to run the migration before upgrading to 22.08, Consolidation will fail with the following error message: A method called by the script failed on line: 8, with error: No migration upgrade smartlist detected. Performing the migration will resolve this error.
IMPORTANT: Data integrations involving the deprecated override FX rate intersections, such as data import/export profiles, Data Management integrations, or Smart View sheets may require a manual update to point to the new override FX rate intersections. See the Migrating Override FX Rate and Amount Data for details on the intersections to migrate.
