Key Resources

Enabling the Redwood Experience and Uploading Image Files for Custom Logos and Watermarks

You can now enable the Redwood Experience from the Appearance page, as well as upload image files for custom logos and background images.

Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

The Redwood Experience is a new application look and feel that also includes new features, such as Dynamic Tabs, that are not available when using themes. Application Administrators can now choose the Redwood Experience on the Appearance page by selecting the Enable Redwood Experience option. Existing applications using the Redwood theme will default to the Redwood Experience while the other themes will stay as is.

Also on the Appearance page, you can now upload locally stored image files for custom background images and logos in addition to URL images. Supported formats for graphic files are .jpg, .png, or .gif and the file upload is limited to 5MB.

When choosing Redwood Experience, in an upcoming update, the chart colors in reports rendered within the application will follow the Redwood color pallette. This will ensure consistency in colors between dashboards, infolets, and reports. This change may result in subtle shifts in color tones in reports already published when using the Redwood Experience.

Business Benefit: Enabling the Redwood Experience not only provides a new application look and feel, but it also includes certain features that are not available in the other themes. Support for uploading image files means the image no longer needs to be available as a URL.

Key Resources

  • See the documentation for customizing your display in your business process administration guide.

Ability to Hide the Business Process Name in Browser Tabs and on the Global Header

You can now hide the business process name that displays in the global header on the Home page and on browser tabs.

Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

There is a new option on the Appearance page, called Display Business Process Name, that enables you to hide the business process name that appears on the Home Page and on browser tabs. By default, the business process name is displayed next to the logo on the Home page and on the tab when a browser tab is opened. If "No" is selected, the business process name is hidden on the Home page and Oracle Applications is displayed on browser tabs.

Business Benefit: The ability to hide the business process name is useful if you have an integrated environment where you are working with multiple business processes.

Key Resources

  • See the documentation for customizing your display in your business process administration guide.

New Clone Snapshot Feature

The Clone Snapshot feature is now available for all EPM Cloud business processes except Enterprise Data Management. This feature provides a screen-based method to migrate application snapshots from a source environment to a target environment. It is an alternative to writing an EPM Automate script to clone an environment. Note that security (users and their predefined role assignments) cannot be cloned using this feature.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

This feature was introduced in Account Reconciliation and Profitability and Cost Management in the 21.02 update.

Cloning of snapshots is useful in migration scenarios, including the following:

  • Production to test cloning where only the application needs to be migrated.
  • Test to production cloning where only the application needs to be migrated.
  • Primary to secondary cloning for disaster recovery.

When you clone a snapshot, Oracle EPM Cloud automatically completes all the actions required to create an exact copy of the current application in the target environment. Because this process recreates the target environment, be sure to backup data and artifacts from the target environment before using this feature.

Business Benefit: Using the Clone Snapshot feature allows you to migrate application snapshots from a source environment to a target environment without writing EPM Automate scripts.

Using Direct URLs to Integrate Connected Environments

Using the new Export URLs feature, other source systems such as Oracle ERP Cloud can now seamlessly embed URLs to directly link to artifacts contained within cards, tabs, and sub-tabs within connected EPM Cloud environments.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

Other Cloud environments like ERP Cloud use direct URL links to open connected EPM Cloud content like forms, dashboards, and infolets. To make the integration between EPM Cloud and other systems seamless, EPM Cloud Service Administrators can use a new export option, called Export URLs, to create a CSV file that provides direct URLs for every card, tab, or sub-tab within a connected EPM Cloud business process. URLs are grouped by navigation flow and cluster, so the URLs are easier to find within the CSV file. You can open the CSV file with a text editor or Microsoft Excel and embed the relevant URL within the source system pages to serve as a launch point into EPM Cloud.

To export EPM Cloud URLs to a CSV file, log into an EPM Cloud environment, open the Settings and Actions menu at the top right corner of the Home page, and then click Export URLs.

Business Benefit: Use direct URLs to seamlessly integrate connected EPM Cloud and other Cloud environments. EPM Cloud Service Administrators can now use the Export URLs option to easily export the URLs which can be used to directly access EPM Cloud artifacts within cards, tabs, and sub-tabs. These can be used for embedding EPM within Oracle ERP, CX, HCM, NetSuite, or even other third party SaaS Cloud services.

Key Resources

Changes to Reserved Group Names in Access Control

Starting with this update, the predefined role names that are prevented by EPM Cloud as group names are reduced to only Service Administrator, Power User, User, and Viewer. Previously, the list of reserved words encompassed historical role names as well.

Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

Previously, EPM Cloud treated deprecated predefined role names such as System Administrator, Application Administrator, Library Administrator, and Reports Administrator as reserved words that could not be used as group names. With this change, except in the case of legacy environments that still use these roles, you are able to create groups with these names in Access Control.

Business Benefit: This change reduces the number of reserved words.

REST APIs to View and Update Connections

You can now use REST APIs to view and update connections. When Service Administrator credentials change for an environment for which a connection is configured, the REST API provides an easy way to update the credentials.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: With multiple environments, using REST APIs saves you time and effort by automating the process of logging in and configuring connections.

Key Resources

Role Information

  • Service Administrators

Support for Cell-Level Security

Cell-level security enables Service Administrators to restrict who can view data in the application by defining rules that remove read or write access to cells that a user would normally have access to due to their regular security.

Applies to: Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

Cell-level security is defined as an exception to the existing member security. For example, a Department Manager requires access to all accounts in their own department, but only a certain account in all other departments. With the usual metadata security the Manager would have access to all accounts across all departments; using cell-level security enables the Service Administrator to control the intersection of all accounts with the Manager's department and only the specific account in all other departments.

Cell-level security uses rules, similar to valid intersection rules, to deny read or write access to users viewing certain cell intersections anywhere a cell is shown (for example, forms, runtime prompts, Smart View, reports, dashboards, infolets, and so on). When cell-level security rules are applied, users with read access can see the data value in a cell but the cell is not editable. If users are denied read access to a cell, the value displayed in the cell is #noaccess.

To create a cell-level security definition, click Application, and then click Cell-Level Security.

Business Benefit: Cell-Level Security provides the ability to restrict or remove user security at the lowest level of dimensional granularity, which provides more flexibility and access control than metadata security alone. This feature allows for cross-dimensional security, which means the same dimension member from one dimension may have different access based on combinations of other dimension members.

Key Resources

Smart View Now Supports Vanity URLs

Starting with Oracle Smart View for Office version 20.200, you can use custom URLs from Smart View for Office to access EPM Cloud environments. You use a third party link shortener to configure custom URLs for each environment, which can then be used in Smart View for Office.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting

Custom URL support is already available in EPM Cloud web interfaces.

Business benefit: Vanity URLs make it easier to remember EPM Cloud URLs.

Key Resources

New Option for Greater Row Dimension Flexibility in Flex Forms

A new option for row dimensions in flex forms, “Allow flexible definition,” is now available. During form definition, when the "Allow flexible definition" property is applied to row dimensions in flex forms, Smart View users may enter members outside the form definition.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

This new dimension option gives flex form users a quick and easy way to enter data for members that are not displayed on the flex form. Users must have access to the valid members that they enter.

For example, using the Vision application, suppose the Product dimension is placed as a row dimension in a flex form. During form definition, only the Sentinal Standard Notebook and Sentinal Custom Notebook members in the Product dimension have been selected for display on the form. By enabling the “Allow flexible definition” option for the Product dimension, Smart View users may enter other products from the Product dimension, such as Tablet Computer or Keyboard, in the rows in the flex form. As long as they have access to those members, users can either add rows for additional members to the existing flex form or replace existing Product members with the Product members they require.

The “Enable flexible definition” option must be selected on a per-dimension basis. The option applies only to the selected dimension; it does not apply to all row dimensions.

Flex forms are only supported on Oracle Smart View for Office.

Business Benefit: The new dimension option, “Allow flexible definition,” gives users greater flexibility to add valid members to which they have access to the rows in a flex form, enabling them to enter and submit data for those members quickly and efficiently.

Steps to Enable

To enable the “Allow flexible definition” option for flex forms during form definition, the form must be enabled as a flex form and the "Enable flexible definition" option must be applied to each applicable row dimension:

  1. In the Layout tab of the form designer, in Smart View Options, select Enable flex forms.
  2. Select a row dimension, and in Dimension Properties, select Enable flexible definition.
  3. Repeat step 3 for each row dimension that you want to enable for flexible definition.
  4. Save the form.

Tips And Considerations

  • Note that in Dimension Properties, the Enable flexible definition option will only be visible if the Enable flex forms option is selected in Smart View Options.
  • When there are multiple dimensions on the form rows, you must be sure to select the Enable flexible definition property for each applicable row dimension individually.
  • You may use the Dimension Properties option, Apply to all row dimensions, to apply the Enable flexible definition property to all dimensions. Use with care as all other dimension property selections will also be applied to all other dimensions on the row segment.

Smart View Support for Saving Ad Hoc Grids in Standard Mode

In Standard mode applications, you can now save ad hoc grids using the Save Ad Hoc Grid button on the provider ad hoc ribbon in Smart View. With the proper permission, you can then save and store ad hoc grids.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

Note that in Standard mode applications, these items are not supported when saving ad hoc grids:

  • In the Save Grid As dialog, the Submit Formatting option
  • In the ad hoc grid, empty rows and columns, and Excel text comments

These items will be supported in a future update.

In a Standard mode application, the Smart View Ad Hoc Behavior option for the application is set to Standard. Previously, the Save Ad hoc Grid option was not enabled on the ribbon when connected to a Standard mode application.

Use this feature with Oracle Smart View for Office release 20.200 and later.

Business Benefit: Users can now save ad hoc grids in Standard or Native mode.

Key Resources

  • @CalcMgrGetCurrentDateTZ - Returns the current date in the time zone provided in YYYYMMDD format (for example: 20140101).
  • @CalcMgrGetCurrentDateTimeTZ - Returns the current date and time in the time zone provided in the YYYYMMDDHHMMSS format. For example: 20140101143001 (Year_Month_Day_Hour_Minute_Second).

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: Date/Time custom functions enable you to convert dates and times to other formats.

Key Resources

Approval Process Validation Enhancement in Financial Consolidation and Close

The Approval Process validation has been enhanced for Administrator users entering or loading data to any entities participating in the approval review process. In order for any users (including Administrator users) to enter data to the applicable entity, the entity must have already started the review process. No data entry is allowed for any entities with the Locked or Not Started approval status.

If you do not wish to start the review process for the entity before entering data, you would need to remove the entity from the Approval Unit Hierarchy (AUH) definition or ensure that the AUH is not assigned to specific Scenario/Year/Period in the AUH assignment.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: Preventing data entry for entities with a Locked or Not Started approval status will ensure that the consolidation process completes without errors.

Key Resources

Align Prefix and Suffix Symbols in Reports Cell Number Formatting

In Reports, you can now align Prefix and Suffix symbols in Cell Number Formatting via two new properties, Align Prefix and Align Suffix.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules, Narrative Reporting, Tax Reporting

These properties, when selected:

  • Align currency prefixes in the left-most side of each data cell.
  • Align numeric data values with other cells in the same columns and suffixes in the right-most side of each data cell.

Business Benefit: These new properties enhance report formatting to match financial statement requirements.

Key Resources

Auto-Complete for Manual Entry of Reports Member Names and Functions in the Formula Bar

In Reports, you can now manually enter member names, including Substitution and User Variables, and functions in the grid formula bar; auto-complete will list matches based on your entry.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

You can make a selection by clicking on any of the suggestions shown in the drop down.

Business Benefit: Auto-complete provides improved ease of use when defining member selections.

Key Resources

Bursting of Report Output to Excel

When bursting reports in a bursting definition, you can now output to Excel. As with PDF, you can email the Excel output or publish it to the Library. The resulting Excel output is static and cannot be refreshed in Smart View. Bursting books to Excel is not yet supported.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: Output to Excel provides an additional output option for reports, as many customers prefer the report output in Excel instead of PDF.

Key Resources

Suppress Missing Reports in a Book

Previously if a report had suppression enabled, and the POV selection in a book had #missing data, the report’s results would be included in the book output. Now, any reports with suppressed grids are not included in the book output. There is no special setting required; this is the book behavior going forward.

The report needs to have suppression enabled for the entire grid with no other report objects such as text boxes or images in the body of the report. Please note that the suppression does not affect the cascade definition limits, as the reports and their POV member selections still need to be executed to determine which reports to suppress.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: When previewing a book, users no longer will see blank pages for reports with POV selections that did not contain data.

Key Resources

Dynamic Custom Y-Axis Minimum and Maximum in Reports Charts

Currently you can optionally specify a fixed custom minimum and maximum for the Y-Axis. This might not be effective if the range of data values may change based on POV changes (e.g. 7,000 vs. 700,000). You can now specify a custom range to dynamically apply an offset of either a value or a percent, applied to the minimum and maximum plotted data values.  This feature applies to all chart types except for pie, donut, radar, and polar charts.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: Specifying a custom range provides expanded flexibility in customizing chart results.

Direct Data Load Using the EPM Integration Agent

You can now use a direct data load method to load data from on-premises data sources to the EPM Cloud using the EPM Integration Agent.  When you integrate the on-premises data source with the EPM target using the EPM Integration Agent, the system executes a SQL query on the source data in the on-premises relational database, offloads processing, extracts and transforms the data at the source level, and then loads the data loaded directly to EPM Cloud. In this way, the EPM Cloud database is bypassed for staging and processing, eliminating any performance bottlenecks and improving the performance and scalability of the load process.

Applies to: Planning, Planning Modules

Business Benefit: The primary benefit of this method is that it enables you to load large data volumes faster than the non-direct load method.

Key Resources

Account Reconciliation

All Supported Transactions for All Match Processes Are Now Displayed

Previously, unmatched supported transactions were only shown in the match process they were originally supported. Starting in this update, users are shown unmatched supported transactions in all match processes irrespective of the match process in which it was initially supported.

Business Benefit: Seeing all unmatched supported transactions across match processes gives you more transparency and visibility into unmatched supported transactions, and they can be matched in a different match process then where they were originally supported.

Financial Consolidation and Close

Additional Consolidation Features in Standard Edition

The Standard edition of Financial Consolidation and Close now includes the same advanced consolidation features as the Enterprise edition. These include Ownership Management, Configurable Consolidation rules, Equity Pickup, and the ability to create Custom calculations in Calculation Manager, such as configurable calculations and on-demand rules.

Business Benefit: Advanced consolidation capabilities are now provided in both Standard and Enterprise editions.

Key Resources

Data Load Files with Closing Balance Input Entries

You can now load a data file that contains only the Closing Balance Input data to reverse the prior period non-zero Closing Balance amounts.  When you load the data file, you use the Replace mode.

Business Benefit: This allows you to load only non-zero Closing Balance Input in a data load file without needing to load zeros to reverse the prior period non-zero Closing Balance amounts.

Performance Substitution Variables

The OptimizeConcurrency, DeltaDBRefresh, and OluRatesLoad substitution variables can be enabled to improve performance.

  • OptimizeConcurrency = True

This substitution variable improves concurrency of the consolidation process by executing some of the calculations at the very beginning or at the end. The degree of improvement depends on the entity structure of a given customer. Customers with deeper entity hierarchies will benefit the most.

  • DeltaDBRefresh = True

This substitution variable improves database refresh performance by doing only necessary actions based on metadata change. Not applicable for Legacy Non “Extended Dimensionality” applications.

  • OluRatesLoad = True

This substitution variable improves refresh database performance. The more scenarios, currencies and rate accounts in an application, the more noticeable the improvement will be.

NOTE: The degree of performance improvement varies widely across different applications as it is purely driven by the application design and data distribution.

Business Benefit: These substitution variables help in improving performance.

On-Demand Upgrade for Existing Non-Hybrid (Only 2 Possible Custom Dimensions) Applications to Extended Dimensionality

Customers on legacy Non-hybrid can now migrate their application to legacy Hybrid using the Enable Hybrid Mode Application option. To see this option, if you are on legacy Non-hybrid, follow these steps:

  1. Take a backup of the application.

  2. Run epmautomate recreate -f EssbaseChange=Upgrade to upgrade the Essbase version and also DELETE the application.

  3. Import the application from the backup.

After performing these steps, the Essbase version will be upgraded and the Administrator will see the option to Enable Hybrid Mode Application.

Business Benefit: It is now easier to assume the performance and scalability benefits of the extended dimension update which used to require an application rebuild.

Narrative Reporting

New Doclet Versioning Optimization

In Report Package, the Doclet versioning process has been updated to minimize the impact of repetitive automated check-ins. Previously, any system update to a Doclet file, like updating variable values or embedded content, resulted in a new Doclet version being generated. Now the system will only generate a new Doclet version on an automated update if the prior version was created by a user initiated check in. Repetitive automated check-ins will be fully audited but will no longer cause new versions to be generated.

Business Benefit: Minimizing the impact of repetitive automated check-ins will improve data retention and processing.

Support for Member Selection Functions to Copy Notes in the Notes Manager

In the Notes Manager, when copying Notes from one POV to another, for example Q1 Notes copied to Q2 for roll-forward purposes, you previously could only specify POV members and not member selection functions to copy from and to. Now you can also use member selection functions when copying Notes, for example “@Descendants(Total Departments)”.

Business Benefit: Copying Notes will be easier. Copying using a Member selection function saves time and effort instead of specifying members individually.

Updated Narrative Reporting Extension for Smart View

An updated Narrative Reporting Extension for Oracle Smart View for Office is now available to download and install. This update includes general improvements and bug fixes, and also supports the following features introduced in the EPM Cloud March update:

  • New Doclet Versioning Optimization. In Narrative Reporting, the process has been updated to minimize the impact of repetitive automated check-ins. Previously, any system update to a doclet file, such as updating variable values or embedded content, resulted in a new doclet version being generated. Now, the generation of new versions will be optimized so that automated check-ins do not always generate new versions. For more information on this feature, see the “New Doclet Versioning Optimization” topic in this Narrative Reporting section.
  • Align Prefix and Suffix Symbols in Reports Cell Number Formatting. In Reports, use these new properties to align prefix and suffix number formatting symbols in cells:
    • Align Prefix. Aligns prefixes in the left-most side of each numeric data cell.
    • Align Suffix. Aligns numeric data values with other cells in the same columns and suffixes in the right-most side of each data cell.

When importing reports in to Smart View as fully-formatted reports or ad hoc grids, using these formatting options will result in improved report display. For a detailed description of this feature, see the “Align Prefix and Suffix Symbols in Reports Cell Number Formatting” topic in the EPM Cloud Common section.

Business Benefit: Downloading and installing the latest Narrative Reporting extension for Smart View gives you access to the latest features, improvements and bug fixes.

Tax Reporting

Acquisition, Rate Change, and Effective Tax Rate (ETR) Calculation

Starting in this update, you can manage the deferred tax impact of acquisitions. There are two new forms: Acquisitions and Acquisitions Regional, which can be used to enter Pre-tax, tax effected, and profit and loss (P&L) adjustments to rate change amounts for acquired deferred tax assets/liabilities. By using the new forms, the temporary difference and deferred tax acquisitions movement are automatically updated for amounts entered. P&L adjustments to rate change amounts can be input in the Acquisitions forms. The previous process of entering acquisition amounts in the temporary difference acquisition movement will continue to be tax effected in deferred tax at the default or override tax rate, whichever is applicable.

Business Benefit: The new capability will allow you to record acquired deferred tax assets/liability at the acquired tax rate and record tax rate change as a balance sheet adjustment when appropriate.

IMPORTANT Actions and Considerations

REMOVAL OF STRATEGIC WORKFORCE PLANNING FROM EPM CLOUD WORKFORCE PLANNING

In the June 2021 release (21.06), the Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) enablement option will be removed for all EPM Cloud Planning Modules (Standard and Enterprise) and EPBCS applications that have not already enabled this feature in the Workforce Module. Customers who have already enabled this feature will see no change in their existing applications with this feature already enabled. No new applications will support this feature after this change.

Strategic Workforce Planning functionality is provided in the Strategic Workforce Planning Cloud Service (SWPCS) product, which contains robust SWP functionality that is not available in the existing EPM Cloud Planning Workforce module feature. SWPCS is an Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) product built on EPM technology. For more information about SWPCS, please refer to the Strategic Workforce Planning information on www.oracle.com.

If you have any concerns about this change, please contact Oracle Support.

LOANER PROGRAM FOR CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE GENERATION 2 TESTING

Oracle EPM Cloud is now live on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Gen 2 environments. If you are interested in testing your application performance on an OCI Gen 2 environment, open a service request following the process at https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/enterprise-performance-management-common/tsepm/op_procs_loaner_envs.html and request for a loaner environment in an OCI Gen 2 data center for a duration of 30 days with the business justification as “Want to test application performance in an OCI Gen 2 data center”.

After you have performed the testing, submit Provide Feedback from the loaner environment. Create a service request using the normal support process, if you have any issues or feedback for the OCI Gen 2 environment.

For more information, see What is a Gen 2 Cloud?

NEW WEB AD HOC EXPERIENCE IN EPM CLOUD

In an upcoming update, we will introduce the new Web ad hoc experience for all users across all themes. This replaces the existing Web ad hoc with a new user experience when using ad hoc over the Web. This will provide the benefit of fast snappy grids with several Smart View ad hoc capabilities over the Web, all within a newly defined interface for Web ad hoc. Users can start with a cube slice from scratch or traverse from their Web forms or dashboards into these new ad hoc sheets for a whole new ad hoc experience. Users within the Redwood theme can leverage the benefit of the dynamic tabs to work in tandem with form or dashboards or reports alongside these new ad hoc grids. This solves many multi-tasking use cases within Cloud EPM. Ad hoc on the Web will be available for Planning, Financial Close and Consolidation, and Tax Reporting business processes. Within Smart View ad hoc, we will also support multi-parent zoom in capabilities in ad hoc when used within the 'Standard’ ad hoc mode.

RUNBUSINESSRULE EPM AUTOMATE COMMAND - CHANGE OF BEHAVIOR

Starting with the 21.05 update, the runBusinessRule EPM Automate command will no longer let you run a ruleset against Planning, Planning Modules, Financial Consolidation and Close, and Tax Reporting applications. Instead, you should use the runRuleSet command to launch business rulesets using EPM Automate.

If you currently use scripts that use the runBusinessRule command to launch rulesets, you must modify them to use the runRuleSet command.

REMOVAL OF SOME UNUSED MIGRATION OPTIONS

In an upcoming update, Oracle plans to remove some unused or rarely used options from the Import Options screen in Migration. Because EPM Cloud implicitly handles Essbase cube restructure and overwriting of artifacts, the Essbase Application - Overwrite Artifacts and Essbase Application - Restructure Cube options had no effect in EPM Cloud. These options will no longer be displayed. The Data Management - Skip Validation option will use the default value of false while the Groups and Membership - Max Error Threshold option will use 100 as the default value.

Proposed Changes to the Import Options Screen

Please note that only some of these options were applicable to some business processes.

The removal of these options is not expected to have any impact on customers. Tentative plans call for this change to be introduced with the 21.05 update. If you have any concerns about this change, please contact Oracle Support.

SUPPORT FOR COMPOSITE FORMS IN EPM CLOUD

Starting in May 2021, Oracle EPM Cloud plans to stop official support for composite forms. Customers are advised to convert existing composite forms to EPM Cloud dashboards and log any issues with Support.

NEW “SUPPRESS MISSING NATIVE” OPTION IN FINANCIAL REPORTING WEB STUDIO GRID EDITOR

The new “Suppress Missing Native” option in the “Suppression” panel in the Financial Reporting Web Studio Grid Editor properties is non-functional for 21.03. The desired output of the selection will not be available when the report is executed even if the option is enabled. This will be addressed in an upcoming release.

STRATEGIC MODELING TERMINOLOGY CHANGE

In a future update, the Consolidation feature in Strategic Modeling will be renamed Scenario Rollup.

NEW VALIDATION FOR MEMBER SOLVE ORDER IN PROFITABILITY AND COST MANAGEMENT COMING SOON

A new validation for the Member Solver Order member property will be implemented in an upcoming update. The valid range for this property will be from 1 to 120. If you currently have any member that has a value for Member Solve Order that is greater than 120, when you edit that member in Dimension Management, you will be required to change it to a valid value in order to save your other changes for that member.

SIMPLIFYING USER INTERFACE FOR ACCOUNT RECONCILIATION SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

In an upcoming update, Account Reconciliation is simplifying the way you can manage your service by combining the user interface for setting the start time for opening reconciliations and configuring system maintenance process. Users will not be able turn off the system maintenance process but will have the ability to skip it for a day.  Users can continue to run system maintenance process from the Services tab at any time.

ACCOUNT RECONCILIATION TABLE CHANGES POTENTIALLY AFFECT CUSTOM REPORTS

Starting in the 21.02 update, the ARM_SUMMARY_AMOUNTS table was replaced by the ARM_BALANCE_TOTALS table. Any Account Reconciliation custom reports referencing ARM_SUMMARY_AMOUNTS need to be updated. For details, see ARM_BALANCE_TOTALS table in Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Tables and Views for Account Reconciliation.

NEW EXTENDACCOUNTSCOPE SUBSTITUTION VARIABLE IN FINANCIAL CONSOLIDATION AND CLOSE

In the 20.11 update, a new feature was introduced in Financial Consolidation and Close to extend the Account scope of Translation and Consolidation Logic. Previously not all system rules were applied consistently to all accounts outside of the “FCCS_Balance Sheet” hierarchy. This has now been updated to apply the same system rules to all relevant accounts regardless of their position in the Account dimension hierarchy.

The most notable change is the calculation of Opening Balance and Foreign Exchange Variance on Revenue and Expense accounts with the exception of Income Statement accounts and Revenue and Expense accounts within Total Other Comprehensive Income. The opening balance and foreign exchange variance calculations for these accounts has not changed and are still redirected to FCCS_REC_OBFXCTA and FCCS_OR_OBFXCICTA respectively.

Prior to the change, the movement of Revenue and Expense accounts with a time-balance attribute of Flow could be reported from FCCS_Movements, FCCS_ClosingBalance, FCCS_Mvmts_Total or FCCS_Mvmts_Subtotal. With the new behavior, the same movement data for the account can be reported from FCCS_Mvmts_Subtotal, with Opening Balance and Foreign Exchange Variance included in the other subtotals.

Note that this feature may have an impact on your application due to certain customizations/configurations, and you may need to update reports and forms, etc. If you need to revert to the old system behavior that was in place before this feature was implemented, you can create a Substitution Variable named “ExtendAccountScope” and set it to “False”. This will revert to the system behavior from prior to the implementation of the enhancement. If this substitution variable does not exist, or exists but is not set to “False”, then the new behavior will apply.

SMART VIEW ADD-ON INSTALLATION FOR TASK MANAGER AND SUPPLEMENTAL DATA MANAGER

In an upcoming release, the installation of Smart View add-ons for Task Manager and Supplemental Data Manager will change. At that time, users of the Smart View add-ons will need to uninstall and re-install their add-ons to take advantage of the latest features and fixes.

TAX REPORTING TOTAL SPECIAL DEDUCTIONS HIERARCHY FINANCIAL REPORTS CONSIDERATION

If you are planning to use the Special Deductions hierarchy introduced in Release 20.12, or if you have Financial Reports that reference the old Special Deductions parent / child hierarchy, please review the information in this Cloud Customer Connect post.

LIMITATION WHEN USING CHROME 88.0.4324.06 TO DOWNLOAD AND SAVE FINANCIAL REPORTING REPORTS IN A PDF FORMAT

When using Chrome 88.0.4324.06 (Official Build) (64-bit), you cannot use the Download button to download and save Financial Reporting reports in a PDF format. The workaround is to use the Print button to print the reports in a PDF format.
