EPM Common

Increased Limit to Save Office Documents to EPM Cloud from Smart View

When you save Microsoft Office files to the EPM Cloud Library from Smart View, you can now upload files that are up to 20 MB in size. Previously, you could upload files only up to 5 MB.

Applies to: Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

You can save Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files) to the EPM Cloud Library. Storing files in the EPM Cloud Library gives you an option for saving files in a central location and facilitates sharing documents with other users.

Any Word, Excel, and PowerPoint file that is up to 20 MB can now be saved to the EPM Cloud Library from Smart View. You will not be able to save files that exceed 20 MB.

To upload and save Office documents to the EPM Cloud Library, first you need to create a folder under the Documents folder in the Smart View panel. You can then use the Save or Save As option to upload and save your documents to the EPM Cloud Library. If you aren't already connected, you will be prompted to sign in to an EPM Cloud business process while saving.

Business Benefit: Users can now upload, save, and share Office files of larger sizes using the EPM Cloud Library from Smart View.

Tips And Considerations

  • The size limit to upload PDFs remains the same at 100 MB.
  • There is no size limit for saving Narrative Reporting reports to the EPM Cloud Library.

Key Resources

EPM Integration Agent OAuth 2.0 Support

The EPM Integration Agent can now use the OAuth 2.0 authentication protocol to access OCI (Gen 2) Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud environments. OAuth is an open-standard authorization protocol that enables a service to use another service without requiring user security information (username, password, etc.).

Applies to: Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

To enable OAuth 2.0 access, an Identity Domain Administrator must register your application as a public client in the Oracle Cloud Identity Service. OAuth2 is enforced for the application and not across your subscription.

Business Benefit: In EPM Cloud environments on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)/Gen 2 architecture, you can use an OAuth 2 access token to issue commands to satisfy the requirement of avoiding the use of passwords.

Key Resources

Dry Run Data Load

Financial Consolidation and Close and Tax Reporting customers can now perform a data load dry run in Data integration. This feature enables you to scan a data load file for invalid records before loading it to an application. The system validates the data load file and lists any invalid records into a log. When this option is selected, data is not loaded to the target application.

Applies to:  Financial Consolidation and Close, Tax Reporting

The log lists 100 errors or less. For each error, the log indicates each record in error with its corresponding error  message.

Dry Run data load is available as an Export Mode selection in the Run Integration option as shown below.

Image Shows the Dry Run Selection on the Run Integration Page

Business Benefit: A dry run data load enables you to easily identify invalid records before loading to the target.  For example, you can identify members that do not exist in the target.

Key Resources

Multi-Pass Solution for Metadata Loads

When performing metadata loads as a part of cloning environments or importing snapshots using Migration or EPM Automate, EPM Cloud uses the new multi-pass solution.

Applies to:  Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

This solution automatically initiates another load of the same metadata input file if the previous metadata load resulted in rejected records. Currently during snapshot imports and cloning of environments, if a shared member comes before the base member in an outline, the shared member import fails resulting in rejected records in the metadata load. Loading the dimension once again typically corrects this issue because the base member exists after the first load. The multi-pass solution automatically attempts multiple loads to fix records that are dependent on records that come later in the load.

For Financial Consolidation and Close, multi-pass also resolves issues with forward referencing of plug accounts.

If multiple attempts using this solution are required to load all metadata, the time taken to complete the snapshot import and clone process increases. This processing time increase is usually about 15-25 percent more than that taken by the current single pass solution and depends on the number of times metadata load files are processed by this solution.

Business Benefit: With multi-pass, multiple loads are automatically initiated until the load no longer fails due to rejected records.

Key Resources

New Task Manager Report for Task Comments

Task Manager now includes a new standard report to summarize all user comments added to tasks.

You can run the Task Comments report for a particular Period or Schedule to display all the comments users entered on their tasks.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: This feature not only shows the comments but also allows you to see how to incorporate task comments into your own custom report.

Key Resources

Generate Execution Plans for Custom Report Queries in Account Reconciliation, Task Manager, Supplemental Data Manager, and Enterprise Journals

When creating custom queries, you can now generate the execution plan and validate the query.

Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting

NOTE: By default, generation of execution plans is only available for OCI (Gen 2) environments. To enable it for Classic environments, contact Oracle using a service request.

Business Benefit: This feature helps you diagnose the causes of suboptimal query performance and take suitable actions to improve it.

Key Resources

Enhanced Supplemental Data Manager

The Supplemental Data Manager is now enhanced to add new features including improved Workflow and Viewer user assignments on recurring and ad-hoc forms and a new multi-line text attribute.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Tax Reporting

Improved Workflow and Viewer User Assignments

With this improved capability:

  • The Form Template Workflow tab has been enhanced and now shows two tabs Forms and Ad-Hoc. You can define Workflow and Viewer user assignments for Forms or to Ad-Hoc.
  • The Allow ad-hoc option is now moved from the Properties tab to under the Workflow tab and is no longer displayed by default. It is populated only when the number of the ad-hoc user list is greater than 0. If the list is empty then this option is turned off.
  • You can now make Ad-hoc user and viewer assignments even when there are no recurring forms defined on the template.
  • The Export/Import file format has been updated to include the Allow ad-hoc option on a transaction.

New Multi-Line Text Attribute

With this new capability, you can use the new Data Type Multi-Line Text to add multi-line text of up to 2000 characters length in supplemental data collection form template.

Business Benefit: These new features simplify working with Supplemental Data Manager. You can now:

  • Use the redesigned Form template creation flow to better position the overall enablement, user and viewer assignments.
  • Have the flexibility to use a longer text field while working on a form template.

Key Resources

Improved Workflow and Viewer User Assignments

Account Reconciliation

EPM Automate Support for Group Management Commands

A new version of EPM Automate is now available. With this version, Oracle certifies the use of addUsersToGroup, addUserToGroups, createGroups, deleteGroups, removeUserFromGroups, removeUsersFromGroup, and userGroupReport commands for the Account Reconciliation business process.

addUsersToGroup Command

Adds a batch of users to an existing group in Access Control using an ANSI or UTF-8 encoded CSV file that was uploaded to the environment.

addUserToGroups Command

Adds a user as a member of the Access Control groups identified in an ANSI or UTF-8 encoded CSV file.

createGroups Command

Adds groups to Access Control using an ANSI or UTF-8 encoded CSV file that was uploaded to the environment.

deleteGroups Command

Removes groups from Access Control based on the information available in an ANSI or UTF-8 encoded CSV file that was uploaded to the environment.

removeUserFromGroups Command

Removes the membership of a user from the Access Control groups identified in an ANSI or UTF-8encoded CSV file.

removeUsersFromGroup Command

Removes users listed in an ANSI or UTF-8 encoded CSV file from a group maintained in Access Control.

userGroupReport Command

Generates a report (CSV file) that lists the groups to which users are assigned in Access Control and stores it in the default download location.

Business Benefit: These commands help you administer Access Control groups.

Key Resources

Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud:

Decimal Precision for Amounts in Transaction Matching

The Service Administrator can specify a decimal precision, between zero and 12, for attributes of data type NUMBER. This is applicable for all attributes in Transaction Matching, except the balancing attribute.

The precision of the balancing attribute is now inherited from the currency code assigned to the lowest currency bucket that is enabled for the Profile. Upon upgrade to this release, Transaction Matching profiles that have a two decimal precision currency assigned for the lowest currency bucket will not see any display difference.  For Transaction Matching profiles that have a currency precision that is not two decimals, the user interface will now show the configured precision.

Business Benefit: This feature enables full control over the decimal precision required for the transaction matching process.

Key Resources

Additional Filter Options for Viewpoint Queries

Viewpoint queries can be filtered by node type to find nodes in a specific node type with particular data characteristics.  The node type filter is only applicable to viewpoints which use multiple node types.  Node data type properties are also available for viewpoint query filters using an Equals or Is Blank operator.

Business Benefit: Some queries in viewpoints which use several node types need to return results for only a single node type.  Also, Node data type properties can now be used by a query to find nodes in a viewpoint.

Key Resources

Audit Configuration Changes to Policies

Changes to approval, commit, and notification policies can be audited to review and monitor the configuration of request workflows over time.  The Policies tab of the Audit page displays changes to policies for all applications and their data chains.  You can filter the policy audit results by data chain object, policy type and level, or time frame.

Business Benefit: Auditing policies enables organizations to identify changes to workflow policies for governance and compliance reasons.

Key Resources

  • Auditing Policies in Administering and Working with Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud

Download Permission Audit Results

Permission audit results can be downloaded to an Excel file to access the information in an offline, shareable format.

Business Benefit: This information can be used in a governance process which monitors and controls application security within an organization.

Key Resources

Download Record Count Log Report

Information from the Record Count Log Report can be downloaded to an Excel file for offline consumption or sharing.  Node and record counts for each node type are included in the downloaded file.

Business Benefit: Node and record count information can be reviewed and shared with other interested parties.

Key Resources

Download Request Activity to File

Summary information for requests displayed on the Request Activity page can be downloaded to an Excel file for offline reference and sharing with other stakeholders.  The downloaded file includes the same request level information displayed on the Request Activity page.  Request items can only be downloaded to a file for an individual request as was available in previous releases.

Business Benefit: Requests based on specific filter criteria can be saved to a file and used for offline reference.  For example, you may download a list of Cost Center requests which have not been approved to discuss it with the Cost Center data manager.

Key Resources

End to End Integration with Financials Cloud General Ledger for Segment Values and Trees

Dimension exports using connections to Financial Cloud General Ledger applications can include additional post-export tasks to initiate import and publishing processes in a Financials Cloud environment to complete the synchronization of segment values and trees.  Export options for these integration tasks can be configured in the Dimension inspector.  Once configured, these tasks will be executed each time you export the dimension to a Financials Cloud General Ledger connection.

Business Benefit: Provides a complete integration process for updating chart of accounts segment values and trees in Financials Cloud General Ledger to be run as part of an Enterprise Data Management dimension export job.  A record of the General Ledger integration tasks which are run and their status can be monitored in the dimension export history in Enterprise Data Management.

Key Resources

Freeform Application Type

A new application type is available in Enterprise Data Management to manage dimensions and mappings for the FreeForm business process in Oracle EPM Cloud.  FreeForm applications can be registered on the Applications page and can include standard and attribute dimensions.  Mapping bindings and viewpoints can also be created for FreeForm applications after registration.   For implementations which previously used the Planning application type for their FreeForm applications, these applications can be converted to a FreeForm application type.

Business Benefit: FreeForm application dimensions and mappings can be managed in a dedicated application type in Enterprise Data Management.

Key Resources

Inclusion Property Filter for Subscriptions

An Inclusion Property filter can be configured on a viewpoint subscription to control whether nodes in a source viewpoint should be included in or excluded from a target viewpoint.  An inclusion property can be a Boolean or List data type.  The value of the inclusion property is controlled by users in the source viewpoint.  When the inclusion property is set on a source viewpoint node, the node will be added (or inserted) to the target viewpoint and further changes will be synchronized for it using the subscription.  When the inclusion property is not set on a source viewpoint node, the node will be deleted (or removed) from the target viewpoint and further changes will not be synchronized.  The Inclusion Property filter can be used by itself or in conjunction with other subscription filters.

Business Benefit: Implementing organizations sometimes prefer to use a "front door" master application to optimize change management across multiple downstream applications. In such scenarios, it is useful to use an inclusion property filter to synchronize changes between source and target viewpoints. In some cases where nodes in a source viewpoint are being synchronized to target viewpoint using a subscription, new nodes added to the source may need to be initially excluded from the target and included on a later date.  Also, existing nodes already in the target viewpoint may need to be excluded from the target viewpoint but remain in the source viewpoint. The subscription inclusion property filter serves as a controlling property to either publish or purge changes to a target viewpoint.

Key Resources

Inspect Node Type for Selected Node in Viewpoint

You can inspect the node type of a selected node in a viewpoint within an open view to access more information or make changes to the node type.   Changes may include adding properties, editing node type converters, or modifying custom validations.  After changes are saved, the view is reloaded the apply the changes.

Business Benefit: Node type parameters can be viewed and modified for a selected node in a viewpoint.

Key Resources

Model after a Node in Related Viewpoints

When modeling after a node in a viewpoint to create a new node with the same characteristics, the Model After operation can also include property values and hierarchy relationships for the same node in other viewpoints in the same view.  Related viewpoints can be configured for each node type in a given viewpoint to identify which additional viewpoints a new node should be included in and have information copied from.  The Model After is available for both list and hierarchy viewpoints which have Related Viewpoints configured.  Request actions for these additional viewpoints are added to the request item created by the Model After operation.

Business Benefit: In cases where a new node needs to be included in several viewpoints in the same view, the Model After feature can be used to copy an existing node and insert it into all of those viewpoints in a single operation rather than having to perform individual request actions.

Key Resources

Node ID and Relationship ID Properties

Additional properties in the CoreStats namespace are available to output static, unique identifiers for nodes and relationships which are generated by Enterprise Data Management.  The Node ID and Relationship ID properties use the String data type and return hexidecimal UUID string values.  These properties can be added to node types and used in viewpoint extracts where necessary.

Business Benefit: Some enterprise systems require a fixed, unique ID field as primary key values in files used for data integration purposes.  The Node ID property can be used in viewpoint extracts to output an ID value for files where a node is the primary key.  The Relationship ID property can be used to output an ID for files where a parent/child relationship is the primary key.

Key Resources

Prevent Approval of Invalid Request Items

Approval of a request is now prevented if the approver has the necessary data access to resolve remaining validation issues for request items in the request.  In previous releases, an approver was only required to resolve validation issues for request item changes they made in the request.  The approver must now resolve these issues before they can approve the request to ensure the request can be completed once approved.

Business Benefit: This prevents the situation where multiple users can approve a request and one approver has made a change that is invalid and the other user unknowingly approves the request.  Previously, the request would transition out of the Approve stage but could not be completed because it had validation issues.   Now, the request remains in the Approve stage and either of the users can resolve the validation issue before successfully approving the request.

Key Resources

  • Enriching a Request in Administering and Working with Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud

Purge Completed Request Actions

Request actions for completed requests are automatically purged from the system after a certain period of time to manage the size of migration snapshot files.  A system setting is available to control the amount of time in which completed request actions will be retained in the system.   Transactions which contain the same details for the completed request actions will still be available for audit purposes once the purge has been performed.

Business Benefit: Purging completed request actions periodically is used to control the growth of backup snapshots and the time required to import and export them.

Key Resources

Reference Dimension Type

Reference dimensions can be added to applications to allow reference data sourced from an external system to be associated to data being managed in Enterprise Data Management.  The Reference dimension type uses a Lookup node type class which has a predefined set of properties that cannot be customized.  Nodes in a reference dimension can use any of the predefined properties and do not get included in the record count for the environment.

Business Benefit: Reference dimensions provide a better alternative compared to lookup sets for reference data sets which are large in volume or have multiple attributes per key value.

Key Resources

Refresh Application Index

When the Default Type and Inheritance parameters are modified for a property, the index for an application using that property may need to be refreshed for viewpoint queries to properly use the index.  A Refresh Index action is available for a selected application on the Applications page of the user interface.  This action can be performed by an application owner or service administrator.

Business Benefit: Application owners can refresh an application index on demand after making property configuration changes which affect how data values are stored.

Key Resources

Sort Locations Using Hierarchy Order in Expressions

The Locations collection in an expression can be optionally sorted to return locations in hierarchy order.  By default, the list of node instances in the Locations collection is not sorted.  A Sort argument can be set to True to return the locations in the order in which they appear in a hierarchy viewpoint.

Business Benefit: This allows business logic for shared nodes based on hierarchy order to be implemented.  For example, a derived Data Storage property for Planning dimensions which assigns the first member instance a Stored value and other member instances in the hierarchy a Shared value.

Key Resources

  • Node Data Type in Administering and Working with Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud

Substitution Parameters for Extract Header and Footer

Substitution parameters can be used in custom headers and footers for extracts to output dynamic information determined at runtime.  The following substitution parameters are available:

  • Date, Time, and Timestamp
  • Username, UserFirstName, UserLastName, and UserEmail
  • ExtractName, FileName, RecordCount, and AppVersion

Business Benefit: Integration processes with downstream systems sometimes require additional job related information to be included in the header or footer of a data file being extracted from Enterprise Data Management.

Key Resources

Viewpoint Queries Using Non Indexed Properties

Viewpoint queries can use filters on non-indexed properties which have derived, inherited, or specified default values.  Queries using the AND operator require at least one filter on an indexed property, but other query filters can use non-indexed properties.  Queries using the OR operator require all filters to use indexed properties.  You can identify whether a property is indexed or not when selecting the property for a query filter.

Business Benefit: Some viewpoint queries need to filter on node and relationship properties with derived, inherited, or specified default values in order to find particular nodes of interest.

Key Resources

Financial Consolidation and Close

Viewing Application Recommendations

If you are a Service Administrator, you can now view recommendations for your application, such as running a configuration task or enabling a substitution variable. The Recommendations list includes the Priority, Category, Module, Artifact, Recommendation description, and instructions on how to implement it. You can also export the list of Recommendation messages to a CSV file.

Business Benefit: The Recommendations messages enable you to take advantage of Financial Consolidation and Close features to optimize your application, with instructions on how to implement them.

Key Resources

Translation to Reporting Currencies When an Entity is Locked

You can now translate data to a reporting currency even if the entity is locked and its calculation status is “OK” or “System Changed”. If the Entity Currency calculation status is “System Changed”, the Reporting Currency status will also change to “System Changed” after translation.

Business Benefit: This change eliminates the need for users to unlock an entity before translating data to a reporting currency, and enables the entity to remain locked for consolidation.

Key Resources

Enhanced Enterprise Journals

The Enterprise Journals is now enhanced to add a couple of new features like improved Workflow and Viewer user assignments on recurring and ad-hoc journals and a new multi-line text attribute.

Improved Workflow and Viewer User Assignments

With this improved capability:

  • The Form Template Workflow tab has been enhanced and now shows two tabs Journals and Ad-Hoc. You can define Workflow and Viewer user assignments for Journals or to Ad-Hoc.
  • The Allow ad-hoc option is now moved from the Properties tab to under the Workflow tab and will no longer be displayed by default. It will be populated only when the number of the ad-hoc user list is greater than 0. If the list is empty then this option will be turned off.
  • You can now make Ad-hoc user and viewer assignments even when there are no recurring journals defined on the template.
  • The Export/Import file format has been updated to include the Allow ad-hoc option on a transaction.

New Multi-Line Text Attribute

With this new capability, you can use the new Data Type Multi-Line Text to add multi-line text of up to 2000 characters length in journal template.

Business Benefit:

These new features simplify working with Enterprise Journals. You can now:

  • Use the redesigned journal template creation flow to better position the overall enablement, user and viewer assignments.
  • Have the flexibility to use a longer text field while working on a journal template.

New Multi-Line Text Attribute:

Performance Substitution Variables

The OptimizeConcurrency, OptimizePelimCalculation, EnableYearlyConsol, ParallelCustomDimDSO, and ParallelCustomDimTranslation substitution variables can be enabled to improve performance.

OptimizeConcurrency = True

This substitution variable improves concurrency of the consolidation process by executing some of the calculations at the very beginning or at the end. The degree of improvement depends on the entity structure of a given customer. Customers with deeper entity hierarchies will benefit the most.

OptimizePelimCalculation= True

This substitution variable improves Partner Eliminations (PElim) performance. If there is a consolidation performance degradation when deploying a user-created “Partner Eliminations Configurable Consolidation Rule” that has an account re-direction, adding this variable can provide significant performance improvement.

EnableYearlyConsol = True

The EnableYearlyConsol substitution variable can be enabled to improve performance for multi-period consolidations in applications that use the Dense/Sparse Optimization option (where Period and Movement are the Dense dimensions).

This substitution variable is applicable if the application meets all of these conditions:

  • The application uses the Dense/Sparse Optimization option (Period and Movement are Dense dimensions)
  • You have two or more dirty periods, and two or more hierarchy levels
  • The dirty entities are identical across periods
  • Equity Pickup sequence is not enabled

ParallelCustomDimDSO = True

This substitution variable improves the performance of the consolidation process in applications with Dense/Sparse Optimization, where the Period and Movement dimensions are Dense dimensions. To see performance improvements, you should set this substitution variable to True.

ParallelCustomDimTranslation = True

This substitution variable can improve the performance of the consolidation process in applications with Dense/Sparse Optimization, where the Period and Movement dimensions are Dense dimensions. To see performance improvements, you should set this substitution variable to True. If any degradation is noticed, you should delete this variable.

Business Benefit: These substitution variables help in improving consolidation performance.

NOTE: The degree of performance improvement varies widely across different applications as it is purely driven by the application design and data distribution.

Narrative Reporting

Working with Shared Reports

Shared Reports are a new artifact type that designates all report objects (Grids, Charts, Text boxes, and Images) in the shared report as shared objects. Shared objects can be inserted into other Reports, providing a single point of maintenance for the inserted objects within the Shared Report. If a shared object is updated in its source shared report, all the subscribing reports that contain the shared object will be automatically updated.

For example, when a Text box and Image objects from the Shared Report (Source File) are inserted into ten other reports, if any changes or updates to the Text box and Image objects are made in the Shared Report (Source File), then all the ten subscribing reports are updated automatically.

Working with Shared Reports

Business Benefit: This feature provides you a single point of maintenance for the inserted objects within the Shared Report.

Working with Linked Regular Doclets

Linked Regular Doclets enable you to easily share the common library documents across multiple Report Packages. Similar in design to Linked Report Doclets, a linked Regular Doclet maintains a persistent link to the library document. If the library document is updated, the service will automatically update all doclets linked to the document. The service will continue to update the doclet file until the doclet link is inactivated. The doclet link will be inactivated when the doclet is marked complete, the author phase is complete, or the Report Package is marked final.

NOTE: This feature is applicable for regular doclets only. It is not supported for reference doclets and supplemental doclets.

Business Benefit: Linked Regular Doclets are an easy way to ensure consistency of the common content across Report Packages.

Steps to Enable

To link a Regular Doclet within a Report Package:

In the Narrative Reporting web, when adding a new doclet to the report package or uploading a file to an existing doclet, select Library, click Browse, and select a supported file. You'll then be prompted to link the library document to the Doclet within the Report Package.

Pop-up Dialog to Link the File

NOTE: When selecting a Library document, you'll be prompted.

  • If you click Yes, the service will create a persistent link to the document file.
  • If you click No, the service will upload a copy of the library file to the doclet. No persistent link will be established.

To view the Linked Regular Doclet status:

In the Narrative Reporting web, select a doclet and select the drop-down menu next to the doclet name, and click Inspect. From the Properties dialog, you can see whether the doclet is linked, the linked library location, and the status of the link.

Viewing the Linked Regular Doclet Status

To Replace the Linked Regular Doclet:

In the Report Package, if you want to update or remove the link to the Library document, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the drop-down menu next to the doclet name.

  2. Select Act on Content

  3. Select Check Out on the Linked Regular Doclet.

  4. Select Act on Content, and then click Replace File.

Replacing File User Interface

Upload File Dialog

  1. In the Upload File dialog, you can either select Local or Library:

  • If you select Library and make a selection, you will be prompted to add the link.
    • If you click Yes, the service will create a persistent link to the document file.
    • If you click No, the service will upload a copy of the library file to the doclet. No persistent link will be established.
  • If you select Local and make a selection, the service will upload a copy of the file to the doclet. No persistent link will be established.

Smart View Support for Linked Regular Doclets

  • In Smart View, you will be able to view the linked doclet file by selecting the doclet and clicking Open.
  • You can submit or approve the doclet by performing a workflow action.
  • You can choose to update the doclet file contents by checking out the doclet.

NOTE: When you upload the file, the service will warn you that the doclet file is linked, and uploading a new file will break the link.

Tips And Considerations

To work with linked regular doclets in Smart View, install the latest Narrative Reporting extension.

Advanced Auto Predict Options

New advanced Auto Predict options give you more flexibility when defining Auto Predict jobs and improve prediction results in some scenarios.

You can define advanced options for:

  • Data Screening
  • Data Attributes
  • Methods

Auto Predict Advanced Options

Business Benefit: Auto Predict advanced options improve the quality of Auto Predictions, especially in cases where it is difficult to detect seasonality (predictions tended to go flat in these cases), or where there is not enough historical data compared to the prediction range (predictions tended to be negative in these cases).

IPM Insights Chart Enhancements

In the Insights Analyzer view, Insights charts have been updated with enhancements:

  • The Account name is now displayed on the Y axis.
  • For Anomaly insights, a dashed grey Mean line is added to the chart to indicate the average value, which gives you a better indication of how far the anomaly is from the average.

Business Benefit: These enhancements improve the usability of the charts, helping you spot insights more easily.

Ability to Generate Insights for Dynamic Calc Parent Members

In IPM Insights, you can now generate insights for dynamic calc parent members.

  • For reporting cubes (Aggregate Storage, or ASO cubes), there is no restriction on including dynamic calc parent members in insight definitions.
  • For data entry cubes (Block Storage, or BSO cubes), the restriction is still in place (you can’t include dynamic calc parent members or any dynamic calc member even at the leaf level), however you can use this solution:
    • Create an alternate hierarchy with shared members for parents that you want to consider for insight generation. The parent members should be defined as level zero members in the alternate hierarchy. When you configure the insight slice definition, make sure to select the members from the alternate hierarchy.
    • As a best practice, move the data to the reporting cube (Aggregate Storage, or ASO cube) using data maps, and then generate insights from that cube.

Business Benefit: This enhancement removes a restriction from ASO cubes that was previously in place that prevented you from generating insights when the slice definition included dynamic calc parent members. This enhancement for ASO cubes and the solution for BSO cubes supports more use cases for insights generation. It’s especially helpful when you have a large number of members: you no longer have to define multiple slice definitions for level zero members; you can define the slice definition to include a parent member.

Tips And Considerations

  • To avoid delays in insight generation for reporting cubes (ASO), consider not including dynamic parent members that have formulas in insight definitions.
  • Because the number of alternate hierarchies you can create is limited, for data entry cubes (BSO), as a best practice, move the data to the reporting cube (ASO cube) using data maps, and then generate insights from that cube.
  • For ASO cubes, prediction insights require that the slice definition includes only level zero members. Alternatively, to generate prediction insights for dynamic calc parent members, don’t enable Auto Predict. Or, run the prediction in BSO, and then move the results to ASO.

Calculation Manager Errors and Warnings Enforcement

In an upcoming release, Calculation Manager will enforce the execution of the Errors & Warnings diagnostic tool for any rule being launched, validated, or deployed from Calculation Manager. If there are errors that result from this new process, Calculation Manager will not execute, validate, or deploy the rule. This new process will apply to all new applications once released. Existing applications will have a finite period of time to bypass this new process to allow you to modify the rules that violate the new Errors & Warnings diagnostic analysis. In all cases, existing rules that are already deployed will continue to run as-is without any change in behavior.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning, Planning Modules

Valid Intersection and Cell-level Security Import & Export File Format Update

In an upcoming release, both Valid Intersection and Cell-level Security Import and Export files in .XLSX format will include new columns for each dimension in the Sub Rules worksheet. These new columns to support excluding all instances of members by name will apply to each dimension and will be positioned after each dimension’s “Exclusion” column. If you use these exported files for integration with other systems and the order of columns is fixed, you may need to modify your process to account for these new columns in these export files. The release of these new columns will coincide with the planned release of this enhancement for Valid Intersections and Cell-Level Security.

Change in Behavior for Grids Created from Groovy and REST APIs for ASO cubes

In an upcoming release, the suppression behavior for grids created via Groovy DataGridDefinitionBuilder and the exportdataslice REST API for ASO cubes will be made consistent with that of the run time data grids created using the Form Designer. Previously, if a grid was built for an ASO cube in Groovy or REST API, then the system used the NON EMPTY MDX clause to suppress missing rows when the suppressMissingBlocks flag was true. Now, when a grid is built for an ASO cube, it will use the NON EMPTY MDX clause when suppressMissingRows is true, and suppressMissingBlocks will be ignored. This means that ASO grids with suppressMissingRows true and suppressMissingBlocks false will now start using MDX. Likewise, ASO grids with suppressMissingRows false and suppressMissingBlocks true will no longer use MDX. Grids where the suppressMissingRows and suppressMissingBlocks flags had the same value will not be impacted. These changes may result in a change in behavior or performance for some ASO grids. If this happens and is undesirable, consider toggling the value of suppressMissingRows from the builder or the JSON payload in case of the REST API.

Internet Explorer 11 End of Support and Smart View

Microsoft announced end of support of Internet Explorer 11 by June 15, 2022.

Do not uninstall Microsoft Internet Explorer, even after the end-of support date of June 15, 2022. Instead, you may securely disable Internet Explorer following Microsoft’s guidelines. In situations where the Internet Explorer browser would be called, the Edge browser will be launched instead.

Oracle Smart View for Office does not require the Internet Explorer browser specifically. However, Smart View depends on Windows components (for example, WinInet APIs) that may have dependencies on Internet Explorer. Microsoft recommends keeping Internet Explorer installed on the machine since uninstalling may cause other applications that are dependent on it to work incorrectly. Microsoft also recommends updating to the latest security patches as they become available.

For more information, Oracle Support Document 2877741.1 (Impact on Smart view with Microsoft decommissioning Internet Explorer 11 on June 15, 2022) can be found at: https://mosemp.us.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?id=2877741.1.

Purging of Audit Information

Starting in the February (23.02) update, audit records older than 365 days will be automatically purged at service start-up such as after the daily maintenance window, service reset, or outage (planned or unplanned). Purged audit records will not be stored or accessible. To prepare for this change, you may want to take a backup of the historical audit data. To do this, select one of the following options:

  1. Export: Select the Export option on the Actions menu from the Audit card by selecting the appropriate filters.
  2. EPM Automate command: Use the exportAppAudit command. See exportAppAudit in Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud.

ENTERPRISE DATA MANAGEMENT

Top Node Filters for Subscriptions Not Applicable to Delete Actions

Starting in the May (22.05) update, top node filters for subscriptions are no longer applied to Delete request actions in the source viewpoint. If a node matching a deleted source node is found in a target viewpoint, the node will be deleted from the target viewpoint regardless of where the node is located as part of a subscription request to ensure synchronization of existing nodes in both viewpoints.

FINANCIAL CONSOLIDATION AND CLOSE

Posting Data Against Global Assumptions

It is recommended that you do not post data against the Global Assumptions member in the Entity dimension. This member is used to store information such as currency rates. Starting with the July (22.07) update, if you post data against Global Assumptions, an error will occur.

Phased Approvals

If you decide to enable Phased Approvals in your application, take note of the following considerations:

  • You will need to manually modify your Data Status forms to replace the dimension member "FCCS_Status_ApprovalStatus" with the new member "FCCS_Status_ConsolidatedApprovalStatus".

  • If you try to export the application from the March (22.03) update and import it to the February (22.02) update, you must update your Data Status form by changing the dimension member FCCS_Status_ConsolidatedApprovalStatus back to FCCS_Status_ApprovalStatus.

  • Additionally, you will encounter errors during the import because new artifacts related to Phased Approvals are not supported in the February (22.02) update.

Resetting Customized Changes After an Update

If you have made changes to the seeded Account hierarchy, those changes will be reset. If you have moved seeded members, the move action is retained, but any re-ordering you have done will be reset, and a restructuring will happen when the ordering is reset. The restructuring could take time, so plan accordingly. You may have to manually re-order seeded members again after the update.

PLANNING MODULES

Removal of Strategic Workforce Planning from EPM Cloud Workforce Planning

In a future update, the Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) enablement option will be removed for all EPM Cloud Planning Modules (Standard and Enterprise) and Enterprise Planning applications that have not already enabled this feature in the Workforce Module. Customers who have already enabled this feature will see no change in their existing applications with this feature already enabled. No new applications will support this feature after this change.

Strategic Workforce Planning functionality is provided in the Strategic Workforce Planning Cloud Service (SWPCS) product, which contains robust SWP functionality that is not available in the existing EPM Cloud Planning Workforce module feature. SWPCS is an Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) product built on EPM technology. For more information about SWPCS, please refer to the Strategic Workforce Planning information on www.oracle.com.
